About
Welcome to Trocadero Dublin. As Maitre’d I am delighted to be part of the proud tradition of this famous Dublin restaurant. We hope that your visit will be enjoyable and that we will see you many times in the near future. Robert joined Trocadero Dublin in 1985. He initially started out in the kitchen but the lure of life on the other side of the double doors proved irresistible. He moved front of house in 1987 and has been a firm favourite with our guests ever since. Now Maitre’d and partner Robert runs the show with charm and finesse. With a welcoming smile, quick wit and a story for every occasion, let our leading man welcome you to the Troc. ROBERT DOGGETT Director/Co-Owner

We visited recently for a family event. My wife wasn’t happy with the original table offered but no problem they moved us to a better spot. My family had the Bruchetta which they really enjoyed and I had the Foie Gras which was very nice. What I really liked was that they gave enough toast which is something many restaurants forget. We all had the chicken for mains which was very well cooked and delicious. We ordered some veg on the side and they added some fries at not extra charge which is a nice touch. The deserts where very tasty and rounded off the meal nicely. We also had a very nice bottle of white wine. The waiter was very professional and helpful, so overall a very good meal and experience. I have been before and there is a reason places stay in business as long as these guys. Excellent service and food.

Six of us dined in the Trocadero. We had our Digital Covid Certificates scanned and were made welcome and seated comfortably by Maitre'd Robert. We made good use of the menu by ordering a variety of dishes. Two bottles of Spanish wine went down a treat. Everyone cleared their plates and were satisfied with the marvellous food and great service. Dining at the Trocadero is very special.

Went here on a business dinner. They accommodated very well for a large party of people and we didn’t notice any delay or long wait between courses. Overall it’s a nice atmosphere and the food was good. The only reason I didn’t give 5 star was down to the starters. Albeit my starter of pate wasn’t the most expensive, I felt it lacked a bit of finesse and a bit more attention to presentation would have elevated it. I was also a bit disappointed overall with the choice of starters. The main course was very nice and the steak was cooked perfectly. I would definitely recommend trying the place and I’m sure on a future visit it could easily pick up 5 stars.

Great welcome by energetic and friendly staff however the place is dated and living off its past when the opposition was not as good. Visited before Xmas when the menu was priced at about €50 for lunch. While the food and service was good it was nothing special and on a par with other restaurants in the area at nearly half the price.

We have been here before in a large family group and had a great time and excellent food however this time it was not so good. Starting with the positive, the lady looking after our table was lovely...and the parmesan roast potatoes and the orange and almond tart dessert were delicious. From there...three starters were just OK. Deep fried brie one was stone cold when it arrived at the table. Three mains were OK. 33 euro for the daughters 4 lamb chops is ridiculous. All of the mashed potato was very sloppy and watery. 26 euro seemed OK for the steak but what came was quite tough and flavourless, having to push down to cut it even with a steak knife. There were no vegetables with two of the mains and only a few sugarsnap peas and a but of scallion on one plate. Desserts. Christmas pudding nice. Almond and orange tart was delicious. "Chocolate delice" was inedible. It was left behind apart from the spoonful tasted...we all tried it and it just tasted like sweet icing sugar combined with cheap cooking chocolate. Heavy and claggy. Nobody asked why an entire dessert was left behind, which is unusual. If I was them I'd take that off the menu. We said goodbye to the lady at the door but she ignored us, the very friendly barman noticed and politely said goodbye. Unfortunately won't be back. So disappointing.

We have been having Christmas lunch at The Trocadero for a number of years now. We have always had lovely, special experiences and so this year we decided to invite other family members. What has happened to The Trocadero? The usually affable and professional Maitre D' seemed distracted and disinterested. The waiter was friendly but the service was lack lustre. The Christmas menu was very limited and the food was mediocre. Three of us had chicken and agreed we would have eaten better in the local pub carvery. The mashed potatoes and carrots were tasteless and watery. The beef was nothing special either. The bill did not include the wine and we reminded staff of the error. I must admit I was tempted not to pay because the food was so poor. I was embarassed that I had invited family as they could not understand the attraction. I do hope this is a temporary blip but sadly I don't think I could take the chance next year.

The ambience was perfect. The staff were wonderful. However, the food was not good. Steak ok. Cooked medium rare. Two tine pieces of shallot. The chips looked and tasted like they had been reheated. Chicken breast over cooked. Pate seemed like it was purchased in supermarket. Not nice. Waiter cleared starter and main plates whilst on way to kitchen with other dirty plates in his hands. We chose a Languedoc (merlot ) €30. It tasted like a €4.99 from cheap supermarket. Horrible. Dessert was nice - chocolate delice. It’s a terrible shame. A long standing Dublin restaurant. You need to take a serious look at the quality of your food. Overpriced and bad quality.

I was here for a graduation dinner and was expecting a wonderful meal. Service was excellent, however cannot say the same for food. Starter was delicious but my main course of chicken was dry and appeared slightly undercooked.also dessert was very dry and needed more sauce . For a top Dublin restaurant I'd expect more!

Haven't been to the troc in years, the place and ambiance is still fabulous and the staff are great at their job and friendly too, however for me this time the food let it down, my friend chose the brie and enjoyed it, I had the prawn, sambuca risotto and wasn't impressed, there wasn't a single prawn on the plate, didn't get the flavour of sambuca either and the dish was surrounded with oil or maybe the butter, I couldn't finish it. Moving on to mains my friend had cod which was lovely but the side of mash was not,no seasoning and bland, I chose spinach and ricotta ravioli and was even more disappointed than with the starter, the dish was covered in overcooked hazelnuts and for some reason there was charred parsley all over it which was really not nice, fresh or none would have been better. I left over half,in fairness the waiter noticed and asked if I wanted anything else but I preferred not to, the desserts were very good however, rhubarb cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding

Lovely atmosphere and great service but food was overpriced and average, chips were of the cheap frozen vsriety, steak was undercooked and under seasoned, pepper sauce like something I would make at home, and I suspect goats cheese starter ( block of cheese in breadcrumbs ) was bought in and heated. Nothing tasted restaurant quality. Very simple presentation, steak on a plate with small dish of pepper sauce

I attended the restaurant for the first time last night. The ambience was lovely and great staff but I can’t justify paying €27 for a chicken supreme- it was a small chicken breast on a plate, 2 mushrooms and a small bit of sauce...nothing else. ☹️

We had dinner last night with 2 good friends of ours. It was such an enjoyable evening, great atmosphere, delightful food and what really makes the restaurant stand out is the excellent friendly service. Nothing was a problem and we loved the fact that they recognise that you need a good gap between main course and looking at the dessert menu which we all really appreciated. We had delicious scallops, monkfish, rack of lamb, all of which were nice portions, really tasty and well presented. Thank you to all the staff for such an enjoyable evening.

I ate here on Sunday as part of a group of approx 20 at 2 tables. The food was delicious, as always, especially the homemade chips. Despite the size of each table, all our meals were served together. The waiting staff were helpful and on the ball, especially Tom, service with a smile always wins out..
