5 international colleagues were in town and l'Gueuleton was recommended for a team dinner. The food was delicious and I recommend the ribeye. The building itself has that rustic/vintage vibe and feel's like you could be in a small town in France. Our biggest let-down, as jovially commented by all 6 individuals, was that the waiter did not want to be there. His demeanor actually made us uncomfortable ordering drinks and food. It also slightly embarrassed me, being the only local at the table.

Average food, bad cocktails (menu reads fancy, but dont fall under that impression). Pricey: a plate with 6 thin slices of baguette, oil, vinegar and tasteless tapenade is 7 EUR. In France this often times would come ob the table for free. Will not be back there.

I have to agree with some of the other posters here in relation to the service and the cost of the food. We were always regulars (brunch and dinner) at this restaurant and have always enjoyed going. However, the staff seem to have changed and do not seem to have received much training by way of customer service. A couple of mistakes were made and not even an apology was forthcoming! The prices for brunch are also ridiculous - €16.50 (!!) for Eggs Royale consisting of 2 eggs, a slice of bread, a little spinach and some sauce (…..and as a vegetarian I didn’t even have the salmon!). While the food is tasty and I appreciate that rents in Dublin are very high, these prices are crazy….the portions and the standard of service do not match up to the cost. We first noticed the price hikes when we were there last Summer and the prices have increased again……we can’t help but feel like customers are being ripped off. I would be reluctant to go back now - there are plenty of other places with great service and food nearby. I can only hope that the management take these comments on board and return L’Gueleton to its former glory!

I booked this restaurant recently for a group of friends after a great meal and experience here a year ago. Unfortunately standards have dropped dramatically. The food was at best mediocre. The tartlet was particularly bad with a slab of slightly melted cheese on top and I was very disappointed with the fois gras and toast after having an entirely different + better version last year. Corners are clearly being cut here left right and centre. Understandably it's difficult times for the service industry but l'Gueleton need to up their game again with a return to top class french Brasserie cuisine and ambiance. I had a glass of expensive "rose brut" for €13 which tasted more like cheap plonk and not the pink champagne I expected (or at least a quality glass of French sparkling!). We were also served a glass of flat prosecco that was exchanged for a bubblier glass. I would however say the service was pretty good with nice and attentive staff.

After living nearly 8 years in Dublin, I’ve found the ultimate scam. This place is incredibly overrated, it serves disgraceful food and worthless wine. Defrosted fish and veg, flavorless sides and absolutely exorbitant bill.

Disappointing. Food did not arrive as listed on the menu... twice! It's not a cheap eat, least I'd expect to get what's listed on the menu. My main seafood platter I've ordered arrived with no potato's even though it was listed on the menu. My cheese and meat platter was served with pickled peppers instead of... grapes. Waiters did not bother communicating or explaining this.

I went here first many years ago and so I was dying to take my Galwegian husband. I told him how fab I remembered it. We booked a table outside and I was delighted to find that we had a seat beneath a heater (joy!). The staff are lovely. Cheerful, attentive and smiling. We were offered menus promptly and we decided to skip starters and have a main course and desserts. I know my hubby was thrilled with his steak and chips. He loved it. I'm a little harder to please as I'm a vegetarian and I thought the vegetarian offering wasn't really as described. I didn't want to create a nasty atmosphere by complaining but I really do think the chef should change the description of 'pan fried parcels of cavolo nero' to fit the reality. They are pastry pockets of spinach and cheese with parmesan shavings on top. There was some cabbage and mushrooms scattered around the plate to fit in with the menu description though. I'm going to be honest here because I still ate them. Just for the optics obviously(!) I had the chocolate souffle for desssert and he had the cheesecake. We've both definitely had better, but it was still a nice evening. Don't know if I'd return or recommend to a friend, but c'est la vie.

Family dinner on a Tuesday evening so not too busy. We’ve always been a fan of this place but it’s starting to slide on a few fronts. Importantly the quality of food served is still good but service and value not where it needs to be. There were lots of staff but very disorganised with wait staff covering both outside and indoors. Every single thing from drinks to food came with an apology for delay but we could see our drinks sitting on the bar while the bartenders chatted. I’m a believer that you can’t get quality for cheap prices but my favourite ribeye frites is now €38 which is a basic steak with fries in a bistro which doesn’t stack up. Had the same dish in Paris in February for €25 overlooking Notre Dame, served with a lot more passion and style. We will go back as it’s a great place but it now moves itself into the less frequent pricey category and out of reach for a casual family gathering.

We were “welcomed” by a waiter with pink hair and we ordered some drinks to start and chips. Our intention was to order some food but she was extremely unpleasant saying that we needed to order food immediately if we wanted to eat. It was only 6.30 and we wanted to wait a little bit longer before having dinner. We asked for two more drinks and she said that they needed the table back in 30 minutes and there were at least 6 tables empty. So we ended up leaving without eating and ordering any other drinks as we were shocked by the rudeness of this waiter. Drinks were lovely and we would have liked to stay for more and something to eat as well. Also, nobody asked us or other customers beside us the COVID certificate which is absolutely disgraceful. All the waiters and bartenders were wearing either the mask under the nose or no mask at all.

Dinner for two in a Friday evening , we had a nice corner table which was cozy as the tables are small and the space is quite open as it turns into a bar later in in the evening . Wonderful host/waiter (from Brazil) gave a great welcome and was attentive and friendly throughout the evening.. it was probably the most noteworthy point of the restaurant though the decor is warm with cool Edison lighting against the exposed brick . I had rump of lamb which at €31 was cooked and presented perfectly though a little tough , my friend had a starter with french fries as mains and we had cheese €14 at the end , nicely presented on a board with grapes and almonds though the cheese portions were tiny . We enjoyed a magnificent french Cahors Malbec. All in all a nice night , restaurant environment is only ok but the friendly team made the difference up in their approach.

We travelled to Dublin for the first time since December 2019 and had no expectations in a post COVID era but our visit to l’Gueulton changed that. What an incredible meal from start to finish. Flavourful cocktails by the fantastic Charlie were followed by bottles on Ventoux and Picpoul both excellent. The starters were so impressive that 3 of the table of 5 chose two rather than a main. Prawns were very popular as was the french onion soup. Sides of chips and poutine were gorgeous but for me the Pork belly was the star, fat perfectly rendered and the loin was beautifully moist and finished on the grill. Possibly the best pork dish I’ve ever eaten. The creme brûlée was too good not to order. The evening was made all the better by the wonderful, welcoming and friendly professional staff.

L'Gueuleton offered a Christmas menu for 55 Euro plus service charge. The names of the dishes were very appealing, unfortunately they did not translate into good food. One of the main dishes consisted in a few pappardelle strips sitting on a viscous blob of meat suspiciously acidic in flavour (inedible). One of my friends who chose the fish said it reminded him of the fish his mother used to cook on those rare occasions she felt compelled to by her catholic upbringing . (It was not a compliment.) The other dishes we chose weren't any better. Sadly this restaurant used to be good, now it's not...sniff

This restaurant has a really nice and buzzy atmosphere even for a Monday night with attentive staff. However I felt the food let it down especially being a vegetarian, apart from the French onion soup as a starter. Also for a French restaurant its wine list was minimal.

The restaurant is cosy and the personnel is friendly but the food is not good unfortunately. It's not fresh , the steak was black scorched , the fries were fried in oil that obviously needed changing. The veggies were nice. The price however is not matching the quality of the food. If you ask 37 euro for a main dish everything has to be absolutely fresh without use of any processed ingredients, especially if you claim to be a French bistro.

My gf and I dropped in around early afternoon for a quiet lunch. Service was prompt, and we were happy to be seated indoors for a change after the easing of restrictions. Immediately I notice that all 4 brass inlays on the table had lifted at their ends and presented a hazard . They were sharp and could easily cut. I brought it to the attention of the staff who kindly moved us to another table, but shirtly afterwards seated another couple at the same table. The food was pleasant, if unremarkable. I had eggs benedict with potatoes gratin on the side. My gf had the crab starter and oyster mushroom for a main. We hated a bottle of sparkling water and each had a creme brulee for dessert. Including coffee and 12% tip it came to €100. It simply wasnt worth the money for what we got. The worst part was the pounding disco music which was so unnecessary and out of place in a French restaurant in the middle of the day. The place itself is lovely, nice ambience but it seems the focus is very much on covers and not customers. Get them in quick and get them out even faster. And to hell with safety. Staff were very pleasant.
