Myself and the other half went for dinner here tonight and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. As we walk in the door, the bartender welcomed us and invited us to take a seat and he'd be over to take our drinks order....As I looked around, there was a nice crowd with many tables taken. The place was clean with no empty glasses / used plates left on vacated tables. We found a table and as we sat down the bartender was there to take our drinks order. While looking at the menu, which has plenty of options including soup, wings, salads, sandwiches and main meals - steak, pasta and pie. We both realized the great value. I ordered the homemade Angus beef burger with chips and my other half the cod and chips. Both came out with more chips than we could manage. The burger was big and delicious, as was the cod with a beautiful light batter. As our first drinks neared the end, the bartender was over to make sure everything was ok and to ask if we would like another drink, which was good service. All in all, a lovely evening out in a nice pub with good service and great food. Would highly recommend it and will definitely back soon.More
Overpriced bar menu with disappointing food. Cold chips and fish full of bones. No sauce on Caesar salad. Close to 20 euro for a main course. Ordered a Coca Cola and got a glass of some cheap undrinkable brand but waiter insisted it was Coca...Cola, he showed me the bottle which was tiny and would not have filled the glass he gave me but he still charged E3.30 for it. Stay away if you want decent food at a decent price.More
We used to hang out here many years ago as students, so had to return for a few pints on a recent visit to Dun Laoghaire. It's just as good as we remembered. Cosy atmosphere. Popular spot, but not over crowded. Staff friendly. Most importantly...though, the Guinness is great! Glad to see they're still going strong.More
Very nice pub. We walked through SandyCove, Blackrock and Glastule and this was the only pub open at 12:30 on a Monday/Tues. Most pubs aren't open these days or open at 3pm or later. Nice menu. We had a platter of sausage, fried chicken croquettes...and fries and a bowl of tomato soup by a nice cosy fireplace! Just what we needed!More
Great pub, and even better food! I had orderd a bottle of bulmers and a club sandwich as I was peckish, never though the sandwich would be good but when it came out and I had tasted it, It had been hands down the best...club sandwich I have ever had. The match was on and a good buzz all around the pub, vaping inside was allowed too which i thought was a great bonus. Really friendly waitress who was quick with serving. Definitly will be back!More
It disappoints me to write this but I and my friends will not be going to McLoughlins again ! We would go to see big football games and generally spend a LOT of money drinking and eating there however Joe who runs the place is...very unwelcoming and today was the last straw when he refused to put on the FA Cup semi final at 3.15pm approx saying he’s turn it on at 3.30pm kick off time . We explained part of a game is the build up but he doesn’t get that ! Nor does he get the fact that we like to hear a bit of the interview after a game —- he’s very fast to put on musak after any game …. He doesn’t appreciate a sports pub and shouldn’t t be running one ! He’ll say that there was racing on —- but those watching the main screen were all waiting for the football game and there was no reason the racing couldn’t be put on other TVs in the pub . Anyway when we went to O’neills we were greeted and looked after very well and we heard the interviews after ! McLougjlins loss is O’Neills gain thanks to the bar manager having the right attitude , Joe acts as if he owns McLoughlins —- the rest of the staff there are fantastic and we have left them good tips , we are sorry not to support them going forwardMore
Lovely little pub, bar staff were nice and attentive. We only got drinks but seems like a nice place to eat too - we got a Guinness.
Staff lovely and great food. Very well run for safety precautions for covid. Recommend the seafood chowder! Lovely pub all eound!
Went for lunch and some Guinness on the Monday that bars were allowed to reopen. Well kitted out for COVID with perspex screens. Fish and chips were excellent, delicious big bowl of soup too.
Diner here our first night in Ireland. Jet lagged and exhausted, we stopped at the first pub we came across. Had a GREAT full Irish breakfast and the fish/chips. Both delicious.
Podczas każdej wizyty w Dublinie odwiedzamy lokal. Wspaniała atmosfera, świetny wybór drinków. Nie jedliśmy w lokalu. Bardzo miła obsługa. Często trafiamy na wieczory z muzyką na żywo. Polecam 10/10 During each visit to Dublin, we visit this pub. Great atmosphere, great selection of drinks. We...did not eat at the premises. Very nice service. We often go to evenings with live music. Recommend 10/10More
Decided to meet some friends here for food as I’d read some very good things about the food. First negative was the poor service, we were left waiting ages to order food, we had to get the attention of the lounge girl and it wasn’t...even busy. I ordered a €23 rib eye to be cooked ‘medium’, someone else ordered same, when it arrived it was a very miserable looking well done piece of meat. The only thing that stopped me sending it back was that the chips were nice as was the onion ring but unfortunately the portions were not very generous and I felt ripped off. One of my friends got curry which didn’t look or taste great. No one came over and asked if our food was ok. Don’t think we’ll be back.More
5 of us looking for a bar with good pub grub, we found McLoughlins which already had a great rating but it deserves even better, great house beer, amazing staff (Síofra in particular) and fantastic food, chips were amazing! Food was well above your normal...pub standard! It raised the bar for all others! The bar is friendly, with a lovely atmosphere which is bright but cozy! We cannot recommend this place enough! We will 100% be back! Absolutely one of the best for anything you want from a bar! Love it! Enjoy!More
Popped in with my partner on a cold Saturday night for a bite to eat and listen to some music that had been advertised on the billboard outside. I ordered vegetable soup and bread and my partner ordered fish and chips. When my soup finally...arrived after 30 mins it was boiling and unrecognizable as vegetable soup. More like a spicy puree. Aside from that it was tasteless and far too spicy for me to eat. My partners fish and chips was very mediocre and luke warm. The fish looked like it was a week old and didn't taste much better. The pub was full of locals chatting and drinking in various corners and aside form my partner and I there were only one other couple who didn't seem to be locals We asked the staff several times when the music was going to happen and they kept changing the time. We waited till 10 pm only to be told there would be no Music on at all. Needless to say we will not be coming back !!More
