Not a visit but a home delivery - poor

Ordered a curry to watch the Rugby World Cup final and it took well over one hour for it to be delivered. When it arrived while it was very tasty, it wasn’t very hot (not spicy hot, that was fine). I called to chase my delivery and was told oh, it’ll be another 10-15 minutes! Not impressed! Not only that, they now charge for delivery and also charge extra if you pay by card over the phone which they never used to do. While eating in the restaurant is fine (going on previous experience) they seriously need to up their game when it comes to home delivery - I shall think very hard before ordering a takeaway/delivery in the future

Dry night out..

Visited this restaurant a few times now and have always been very happy.. Tonight was different. The staff were very friendly and service was great. I had the chicken Tikka main meal, well I must say I’ve never eaten chicken so dry before, and the accompanying dish were somewhat tasteless.. Oh well.

Average overpriced (and overcharged) food

Popped in for dinner on the way back from the cinema. Have not been to the Rajdoot for a while and standards have definitely slipped. Food is at best average - swimming in sauce without much flavour. Vegetables overcooked. The most disturbing issue is being charged £4.10 for 2 popadums. On querying I was told the popadums are 80p each and £2.50 for the chutney tray. On checking the menu after we paid the popadums are 80p each but chutneys are 60p each - we only had 2 of them. A minor point but after already expensive and not particularly exciting food I do feel a bit ripped off!

Excellent food, would definitely recommend

Really excellent food!! We have been searching for a good local Indian and this is excellent. The food is always really tasty and it is so reasonably priced. Last week we got a butter chicken, saag aloo, Bombay potato, pilau rice and peshwari naan as a take away all for £22 which did two of us for dinner and we had left over curry for two lunches the next day!! We have also tried the starters which have all been really good, especially the kebabs and onion bhajis. Great portion size, taste and value for money. We even enjoy going there, the restaurant and the toilets are always super clean and the staff are really polite and nice. Fabulous tasty food and would definitely recommend!

This place's food quality has fallen off a cliff

Ordered takeaway as previously eaten in and not had any issues. The food this time was terrible, the lamb chop starter was inedible as it was so rock hard and gristly. My main (chicken makhani/butter chicken) also was inedible. Again the chicken had a strange rubbery texture like it had been reheated in a microwave, I could barely cut into it! The sauce was a bland basic tomato sauce with none of the creaminess you would expect. The whole meal went in the bin. Honestly one of my worst takeaways ever.

Best Indian in Ruislip! Just book it already

I love this place, been coming here for 20 years and it’s not disappointed now! The service was unrushed (in the best way), food recommend by Sabjit was top notch! So nice to try something new. Can’t wait to come back. Cheers guys! ❤️

Cleaning Chemical

We ordered a takeaway from Rajdoot last weekend for a birthday celebration. The food was absolutely horrendous. The prawns were in a soggy batter with the most foul tasting sauce. Chicken tikka masala tasted like the chicken had been soaked in a cleaning chemical. Unable to eat any of it. We have been loyal customers over the years and have never received such shocking food. We will not be returning.

Service WITHOUT a smile

Booked a table for 7 people. On arrival (2 of the 7) we were taken to a table with tatty seats. We were given a menu. We said we’ll order when the rest of our party arrive. The waiter seemed put out by having to rearrange the tables. I did explain that I’d booked. Upon ordering it was as though it was all too much effort to take our order and in between courses replace our cutlery. Not a very pleasant experience and all rather awkward. The food was average!

Very Disappointed

I have eaten in this restraunt a few times and have had many take away meals with the food ranging from very good to really poor. My last take away was the worst meal I have had from Raj Doot and prompted me to write this review in the hope the owner ups the quality of the food. Our food lacked flavour and the masalas were as runny as water. The texture of the chicken was strange and tasted reheated?? The vegetable dishes lacked flavour and content and were swimming in oil. one dish was passable and that was the onion bhaji .. Was it the chefs night off and a waiter stood in as chef?? To add insult to injury on collection of the meal after ordering from the on line menu, I question the bill because it was more than it should have been. The response was that there had been a price increase , 10 to 20% across the menu and they had not changed the web page but I still had to pay the new rates.!! There are many many good Indian / Asian restraunts to choose in Ruislip and it will be a long time before I am tempted back to Raj Doot. Sorry.

Food and service have gone downhill

We used to enjoy going here and got to know the owners quite well. The food was fantastic as staff/owners listened to us and got it right. Fast forward to jubilee weekend…… We went in, expecting the same level of service and were very disappointed. Firstly the sign above the door is damaged and has been for a while. Bits of it have fallen off and it looks quite scruffy. When our starters arrived, they looked ok but was not of the usual standard taste wise. After we’d had our starters, one of the waiters - he wore what looked like sunglasses even though it was night time - came over with our mains and attempted to put them straight onto an already crowded the table. No attempt had been made to clear away the plates from our starters before setting down the mains. It was only after we complained, that this was done. The food was not very good and again was not of the usual standard. I had to send it back a couple of times before I eventually received something edible. I’m not sure what’s going on, but it appears the owners have taken their eyes off the ball and allowed standards to slip which is a shame as I’ve always enjoyed dining here.

Expected standard restored

I gave this restaurant an adverse review in March. I decided to give it one more try before crossing it off our list of favourites. The takeaway meal on Saturday was back to pre-lockdown quality, the portions were generous and well spiced. I am pleased to say the previous experience seems like it was probably a one-off and will be returning next time we fancy a curry!

Tough Chicken

I’m writing this with a heavy heart. I have left it 4 weeks before writing as I’ve been coming to the Rajdoot for over 20 years, and I have enjoyed the regular staff in that time, sadly a lot of staff has moved on. In the end I thought to myself if the chefs were happy to serve me poor chicken then I’m going to be honest and leave feedback accordingly. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, when it came it was inedible each piece of chicken was like stones, I was chewing on it for ages. I could not cut the meat so I asked the waiter to cut my meat for me. He got the knife and pressed down on the chicken, it nearly flew off the plate, and he then got the fork to hold it steady while he sawed away at it. Realising that the meat was indeed rock hard he called over the manager on that day. He offered me a replacement meal, I declined. It’s sad to see this place go downhill and I do hope they get their act together and become a top restaurant like it once was.

Takeaway from hell

Placed take away order at 7:00pm for 8:00pm arrival, was a large order for 7 people and was £100. At 8:15 we phoned as order still hadn't arrived and was told it was on its way and shouldn't be long. 4 more phone calls later and the order arrived at 9:30! As we unpacked the food we discovered that some of the order was not ours, 5 minutes later the driver came back and and collected it, we did insist that this food was not delivered to the customer due to the lockdown and safety issues and must be taken back to the restaurant, not sure this was done. Food was re heated and very average at best. Will never use this restaurant again, not the same since reopened. We did complain to the manager who said he would give us a discount on our next order, what a joke!

The best Indian

Absolutely love the Rajdoot it has been a godsend during both lockdowns. Always enjoy popping in on a Saturday evening to collect a takeaway and have a pint while waiting. Food is always delicious, plentiful and piping hot. Tonight I got a delivery, my Chicken jalfriezi was spot on and the chunks of meat were huge. Was able to have a meal in the restaurant in August and service was friendly and efficient. Never had a bad meal here.

Gone downhill

This has been our favourite curry restaurant for more than 10 years,but because of lockdown we have only eaten from here once or twice in the last year. Last Saturday as there was a birthday we decided to have a takeout. The order was taken but not read back, so it was not until I got home that I discovered an error....I had been given garlic naan instead of garlic lamb, fair enough mistake as I was wearing a mask and on checking the cost at least I got what I paid for, this was not too much of a problem. However the rest of the meal was a complete disappointment. Meat samosas have shrunk and filled with a large proportion of potato, and were under spiced Tarka daal was thin and lacking garlic. The garlic naan also only had a hint of garlic. Chicken Ceylon lacked chicken, although the dish was well cooked The popadoms were fine. I will try one more time and if there is no improvement will look elsewhere. I realise it must be difficult at this time with no dine-in available, but unless standards are restored it will be even more difficult as the place will be empty through customer choice rather than circumstances caused by Covid!
