Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Sunday lunch was well presented and very tasty and I would definitely recommend the food. What lets this establishment down is the waiting staff. We had to ask for the dessert menu, nobody asked if our meals were enjoyable. We watched several other customers...having the same problem. Some customers got up and paid for their food because nobody bothered to come with the card machine to let them pay. The team of waiting staff need to someone to clarify their roles and organise them.More

We have been to Harrogate several times and have never come across this bar. We say it as we passed the street. The name standing out so we went for a closer look. There was a large outdoor seating area but we chose to sit...inside in a booth at the window. It was a Monday afternoon and was quite busy. We ordered cocktails - Bloody Mary 2 for the price of 1. The girl asked how spicy I wanted it (nice to be asked) I choose spicy and it was - it was perfect (would make it perfection if a stick of celery was added - that is just my preference). Pint of Guinness was very good. The American (we think) behind the bar was brilliant at her job. This is the sister pub to the fat badger - we didn't know that until later. We looked at the menu to eat -this looked very good and we will try it next time but it was neither lunch time or near to dinner.More

It was getting late in the afternoon I decided to shout up and say to my partner we were going to call somewhere in town for dinner to save her cooking when we got home.I chose the Pickled sprout in the Yorkshire hotel. Boy I’m...glad we did Old fashioned favorites “Prawn cocktails” Which were superb and came with Gluten free bread for Sue as she has an intolerance Then a Sunday roast After much deliberation we chose the pork Again fantastic and one all gluten free All washed down with an Italian red Can’t recommend highly enough and staff were brilliantMore

Lovely food but don’t ask to swop any item on the menu as they charge you extra… which they failed to advise at the time of ordering! Then the staff were really unhelpful and advised this was the chefs policy.

We were a party of 4. Two couples who arrived by chance without a reservation and fortunate enough to get a table on a Saturday evening. Despite choosing different main courses, we all agreed that our meals were outstanding. The taste, flavours and spices were...just sublime. Ample portions and we agreed that we had all enjoyed the best restaurant meal in a long long time! A lovely atmosphere, with attentive and professional staff, just topped off the evening. Congratulations to the chefs, management and front of house staff. We will certainly return.More

Overlooked at the bar, terrible service. Quiet for a Saturday night but took an eternity to be served. When we did receive drinks they were fine but small. Will not return and would not recommend until staff have received lessons in grace and decorum.

5/5 great service, lovely building with a very friendly and helpful staff. Nice atmosphere and lighting at night. Bar area is lively with a good selection of drinks. Attached to the Yorkshire Hotel but takes any booking and a separate entrance at the rear of...the hotel. Highly recommend.More

We are fussy about our Sunday Roasts and it takes a lot to impress but this was something else! 2 or 3 course option (and I defy any to have the three courses because the portions are so big!) at a very reasonable price, great...selection of starters / mains and deserts. 3 of us had the trio roast, (which included chicken, pork and roast beef), 1 roast beef and 1 pork. All cooked to perfection with a great selection or veggies, fantastic Yorkshire puddings and crispy roast potato's. Additional gravy boats where given and we were told we could have more if we wanted. The gravy was just the right thickness and smelt and tasted amazing. Having all had a starter we sadly couldn't manage the puddings. Service was efficient and friendly and staff made sure we had everything we needed and nothing was too much trouble. All in all it was one of the best roast dinners we have ever had and we will definitely be back!More

We went here for a meal with family after our small, intimate wedding and it was absolutely fabulous. We booked the use of the private dining room for 9 people which was perfect as it is a great size (there was plenty of space for...more people) and is a really pretty room. The service was fantastic, all the staff (and especially the restaurant manager) made sure we were very well looked after. The food was really lovely, we had 3 great courses and all our guests commented on how tasty it was, especially the sticky toffee pudding! I would definitely recommend coming here, in particular for anyone wanting to book private dining.More

We’d heard so many good reports of the Pickled Sprout so we were surprised at the poor quality of the food. Maybe the chef was having a bad night but there was nothing sparkling about the food. Three of us had minute steak which was...grisly although the cod was apparently passable. The service was five star though with helpful friendly staff. There are so many good places to eat in Harrogate but sadly this isn’t one.More
