We went to Hales on a Thursday night and stumbled upon the Karaoke. There are definitely some regulars that show up weekly and have the chops to sing! It was a welcoming place to sit and watch the singers and supportive enough to get up...More

Good beer on tap, also good cider. Very nice and atmospheric interior with rich colors, also has a back garden with some really funny and some not-so-funny gender-biased tin signs and a smoking area.

Looking out for a non standard pub, non chain/national and seeing the quirky low line of the bar from across the street we made a bee line for it. came inside and was very pleased with the atmosphere, the decor too, still with gas cigar...More

Visiting the Bar with a Dutch friend who wanted to see traditional pubs i was shocked at the staff and the state of the place. I understand the Place is old but the stench from the bar was over powering and frankly begs the question...More

Dear Chris, I can assure you that our hygiene standards are impeccable, the smell you refer to is from the sulphur wells that run beneath Hales Bar & many other establishments within this area. Harrogate spa water contains iron, sulphur and common salt. The town...More

When we went in here there was only one other person in but we thought we would give it a go. It was very dark on entering but our eyes adjusted to the lighting eventually. The young girl behind the bar was pleasant and efficient...More

First visit to Harrogate, we found this gorgeous unspoilt gem of a place. A family run business, impossible to distinguish staff team from owners as the service was incredible and it's clear everyone who works here takes pride in their job. The atmosphere is delightful,...More

We were recommended trying this old pub as real ale was on offer. It was unique with real gas lights on the bar and so old worldly , there was just so much to look at with all the wall decorations, like an old fashioned...More

The oldest pub in Harrogate with Victorian gas lighting & artifacts. Our small menu is all home made & locally sourced. A private function room available for private hire. Please remember we are a very busy pub not a restaurant therefore service times are dependent on levels of trade.
