So often you can feel after an Italian meal that you could have cooked better yourself. Not true at Harrogate Pranzo! Today we enjoyed some of the best Italian food we have enjoyed anywhere in the U.K. Even the garlic bread starter was distinguished by the richness of flavour and generosity of the excellent Mozarella topping. Prawns as a starter choice were delicious and bountiful. The mushroom ravioli with truffle sauce was sublime, and once again not a stinting portion. We shared a bottle of finely chilled Veneto Pinot Grigio that complemented all we ate, and was remarkably good value. The service was personal, swift and efficient. This restaurant, recently opened, was very busy at lunchtime just pre start of lockdown day, but we will be going back when next we visit Harrogate from London. And our friends, local rare book dealers in a shop round the corner, are likely to be visiting even sooner!

Feedback: just one constructive comment: at the end of a birthday lunch recently, it was embarrassing when the waitress announced the total amount of the bill. This was a birthday treat and the birthday girl as well as nearby tables would have heard the cost. Maybe you could mention to your staff. The waitress could have entered the amount in the machine and asked to check the amount visually. Otherwise an enjoyable lunch and staff attentive.

We came to Pranzo as we’d heard so many good reviews about it and it did not disappoint! I’m not usually one to leave a review but considering we hadn’t been out for a nice fancy dinner for a while, I felt that needs must! We were a group of four - typically we took forever to decide on what we wanted but we got 4 delicious starters- burata, garlic bread, bruschetta and calamari (don’t quote me on spelling folks) and they were all DELIGHTFUL. So they were so tasty that when it came to my main meal, I ordered lobster ravioli, I couldn’t even eat it all. The lobster dish was very rich, for me anyway. I couldn’t decide if it was due to the explosion of flavours I’d already had for the starter course or just that the ravioli was too posh for my taste buds, nevertheless, my friend tried it and also enjoyed! One of my friends got an espresso martini, now I like coffee and I like cocktails, but I always find espresso martinis either super sweet or watery or just crap.. but these ones were delicious! I genuinely can’t stop thinking about them🤣 I think I ended up having 2-3 martinis, and my pal and me shared the Tiramisu. We stayed until closing (sorry to be those people) and honestly had the best time! Thank you so much, genuinely can’t wait to come back. I turn 30 in April so maybe that’s where I will celebrate 😄 Food, service, staff, atmosphere was all perfect.

We were in town for our first anniversary in October and hadn't heard of Pranzo (it had just opened), but it looked wonderful so we stopped by to see if they could squeeze us in. They were fully booked, but arranged a table for us in the bar area and brought us two glasses of prosecco, which was so lovely. We had the garlic bread, then ordered the crab linguine and truffle ravioli to trade halfway through - the food was so good that we were both reluctant to swap! Honestly, it was pasta I'd expect in a fine-dining restaurant in a big city. Pranzo is one of our favourite memories now!

I visited with my partner and my mother and we all agreed we had a great time! Two of us had 3 courses and the other had 2. The lobster ravioli was absolutely delicious and my favourite, but honestly if I could afford to go back every night and try all the dishes, I would! The wine was great, the service was friendly and quick. We chatted to the manager and the person behind the bar for quite a while, both of which made the evening very enjoyable. They also seem to be doing really well in ensuring you have a safe visit during these times!

I always try to be fair with my reviews and I did struggle with this one as this is not a bad restaurant at all, in fact the reviews on here are glowing, but I just didn't have a good time. The food tasted OK but I just did not enjoy the pasta, it is too thick, it is very thick, if you like really thick pasta you will love this place, but the texture of al dente thick pasta is unpleasant for me. Service was poor to average, drinks took forever to arrive and the water we requested didn't arrive, we had to ask 3 times, told them we were sharing the starters, when delivered it was who ordered what, ummm we are sharing, no additional plates offered to share the food. The room is small and for some reason they put tiles on a the wall together with wooden floors means very very noisy as there isn't anything to absorb the sound so it just resonates around the room, it was also stupidly hot in the restaurant, however the kicker and unpleasant part was the fried chillies vapour that managed to get into the dining room from the kitchen, that horrible in the back of your throat kick, everybody started coughing badly and apologising shouting "I don't have COVID sorry for coughing", the smell didn't leave. As for the food, it is damn expensive for pasta, £120 for 4 people, 2 *bruschetta 4 pasta, 3 drinks and some water. We had Nduja bruschetta and Gorgnzola bruschetta, both very nice indeed, the Nduja is very spicy, but was balanced nicely with the mascarpone, highlight of the meal but at £9 they are expensive. We had Paccheri with King Prawns and Paccheri with Nduja, the Paccheri is too thick, both my kids said so, the Nduja simply didn't work in this dish, it had nothing to balance it and was too overpowering and hot, you don't expect to get a sweat on eating Pasta, it isn't a curry, I had Bigoli with Pancetta, again the Bigoli was too thick, the pancetta was the same quality I get from the supermarket, it was average and at £15 it was a disappointment, I would also say both my kids finished their main courses, this is unheard of as they are not big eaters, the portions were not big. The star of the show was definitely the Mafalde Beef Shin, the pasta was just the right thickness and was lovely, if you come here I would recommend this dish. To sum up, the food was fine in terms of taste but the pasta was too thick, service was average at best, room was hot and made us all cough, and it was very expensive, hence poor score from me.

Pranzo Italian
Hi LadAndHisTravels, Thank you for taking the time to leave this detailed feedback for us. As you can see from the other reviews we have received on Trip Advisor, the service we strive to offer at Pranzo Harrogate is of a very high standard so we’re sorry to read that on the occasion of your visit you felt the service was poor to average. While we were very busy on the night in question we will discuss the service points you raised with the team and learn from them moving forwards. Our homemade pasta is made fresh every day, it’s a shame this wasn’t to your taste as it is well-loved by the majority of our diners, many of whom are returning customers. We can also only apologise for the chilli vapour reaching the restaurant, unfortunately, this can happen from time to time as all our dishes and sauces are fresh and cooked to order. There’s definitely no reheating of food at Pranzo. Thank you for your comments regarding the Mafalde Beef Shin pasta, we’re pleased to read you enjoyed this dish. If you’d like to discuss your visit further please do not hesitate to email me at marco@pranzoitalian.co.uk. Thank you, Marco

We went to Pranzo for tea and absolutely everything that we ordered was delicious. I couldn’t pick a single fault with anything. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable and we enjoyed hearing about the restaurants background and where it all began. The food tasted fresh and authentic and the portion sizes were great and felt like good value for money. The variety of cocktails and wine felt like there was something for everyone. Our waitress Rose recommended the tiramisu for dessert and it didn’t disappoint! It truly felt like a mini Italy tucked away on cold bath road. Will definitely be going back and would recommend it to anyone.

Great experience on a searing hot day! The restaurant temperature was very comfortable during the heatwave. The waitress was fun, knowledgeable and attentive and the food was filling, tasty and good value on the lunchtime deal. Have eaten here before and it is my ‘go to’ Italian. Thank uou, Pranzo.

We arrived and ordered two portions of the beef shin pasta, this was always my favourite at the Ben Rhydding Pranzo restaurant. However the taste of this was slightly more oily than I'd had it previously so wasn't as enjoyable. We also ordered a rocket salad which was half the size at the previous restaurant and also the garlic bread. The garlic bread was such a disappointment, previously it was thick doughy square which was delightful - however they have changed the way they make this and its now a single thin slice of a ciabatta loaf with cheese which was so oily it wasn't very nice. It was essentially a slice of garlicy cheese on toast - also at £6 it feels an absolute rip off for 1 slice. Honestly I've really been looking forward to visiting this new restaurant but it wasn't what I hoped for.

Tiny portions and rip off cost for a lime and soda !! I don’t mind paying for high end dishes but my friend and I (who lunch out a lot ) agreed that the portions were such poor value for money .This was then made worse by an offensively priced glass of soda and lime . We won’t be returning .

We took advantage of the light lunch offer and had starters and a main course for £16 which included a drink; I chose to have a coffee instead of alcohol, which was happily accommodated. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. A special thank you goes to Rose for looking after us so well. The value for money + quality food + customer service = outstanding. What’s not to love

It was lovely but I wouldn’t say anything special. I was trying this place out before my birthday, thinking I could have my birthday meal there. Coffee- was ok. Food my mum had the lobster ravioli… she absolutely loved it. Said it was delicious. It was £18 and she only had 4/5 pieces of ravioli. It was definitely not worth £18. I had the pancetta, bacon, mushroom pasta which was nice but I don’t think it was actually a £14 worth meal. They do not sell garlic bread or anything you can soak up the sauces with. They do not have an extra kids menu and it doesn’t seem to be very kids friendly to me. All you do is just take £5 off the main meal to make it a child meal. I was sadly disappointed with this restaurant but if you’re a pasta person who doesn’t mind receiving expense small portions… this place is for you!

On entering ‘ restaurant ‘ we were ignored by staff and had to wait to explain we had reservation. Couple were asked to ‘ move up ‘ so our table could be serviced!! - The couple ended up moving to a booth that became empty - embarrassing! Sat next to dripping windows - horrible! Waited an age for drinks order to be taken. When food arrived it was average at best. Way better options in town if it’s Italian that you are after.

We were a party of three for lunch. Garlic bread with mozzarella, sautéed king prawns and crab crostini to start, all really tasty with just the right amount of chilli kick with the prawns. My daughter had her pasta plain with tomato sauce and cheese on the side (no problem at all for the kitchen to accommodate), I had the mafalde with king prawns (again I know, but fabulous) and my partner had the lobster ravioli, really delicious! We finished off with warm Nutella brownie with vanilla ice cream (again not a problem to swop from the pistachio on the menu) - well we thought we’d all get a taste but my daughter wolfed it down so missed out big time there. We will be back, thank you so much.

I went for Sunday lunch with my partner. I booked in advance and opted to sit indoors (indoors and outdoors is available). The area outdoors has 6 or so tables and is under a canopy, but with a British summer I didn't want to risk being caught out! When we arrived (it was actually dry and warm weather!) we were seated indoors by the window. We ordered some very delicious and refreshing cocktails. There is a really good list to choose from and they were both really well made. They have a decent wine list too. We had crab crostini and garlic chilli prawns to start - really tasty. Then I had seabass and my partner had pasta with spicy sausage. They specialise in pasta here, and have a great variety to choose from. The food we had was all excellent quality and really delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive, making sure we had drinks and checking we were happy with our food. We'll definitely be back - it could even become our new weekend favourite now that Quantro has closed down.
