A well presented and lively restaurant where booking is essential. If you arrive early there is a relaxing bar to get a pre dinner drink. Seating was on time and a nice table for a couple. Service is a little slower than most due it...being very busy but if that suited us as we were in rush. Unfortunately the young man serving the wine didn’t open the bottle at the table due to being nervous re how to open it so a little more training required. We both had steak and both cooked perfectly and we finished off with the cheeseboard which was very nice. I thought the food prices were about right for the type of restaurant and the wine selection was varied. Would recommend and we will probably try again when we come back to HarrogateMore

We have been here several times now. Its our go to place when we come to Harrogate. We came here for a drink around 5pm. We sat outside under the heaters as although it was getting late in the afternoon it was still nice outside....This is so nice to be able to do. Blankets are also available. We ordered a bottle of wine. Which turned into us ordering food - pizza and the special pasta. We shared both. Both were delightful. The pasta was pea and pesto. Not what we would normally choose but it was excellent. (You know it is good when you order two but there is only one left). The pizza was cooked to perfection. As it was busy inside as the night drew on, we ate outside which made it extra special at this time of year. And the one bottle of wine turned into two. Would recommend The Fat Badger as a place to visit.More

I never expect much from hotel restaurants, but this place is so good! Highly recommend. I came for dinner and got the sea bass risotto dish and a glass of wine. It was cooked perfectly and was so good. I came back the next day...for a Sunday roast lunch. I got the pork roast and then the sticky toffee pudding dessert. Wow. I thought dinner was good, but these two dishes were even better! Delicious!! Definitely will come back if I find myself in Harrogate again.More

We found this venue in trip advisor since it offered what we wanted: a good variety of menu options and a handy location for where we were staying. First impression of the restaurant is interesting - apparently slightly old fashioned (but it’s not) - beautiful...chandeliers. Tables are well spaced so not sitting in anyone’s lap. Menu had what we wanted: salmon and sea bass, plus fillet steak options. Quality of the cooking and presentation first class. Service from the staff friendly and efficient. Prices not cheap but good value.More

We booked a table through Open Table. When we arrived we stood by the door of the bar thinking someone would meet and seat us. After a while I asked at the bar and was told to take any table that was free. When I...said I had booked a table I was told to proceed to the restaurant down a corridor. After this initial misunderstanding we were met and seated in the restaurant by friendly professional staff. The restaurant is quite luxurious, with long velvet drapes and crystal chandeliers (as opposed to the pub bar's bare tables and dim lighting) The food was excellent. My husband had the Marinated Crottin Goat's cheese Olive & Beetroot Tapenade, Charred Ciabatta to start followed by Ox cheek on a bed of pasta. He said they were both delicious. I had the pan roast Cod Chunck on Brown Shrimp Bubble & Squeak with Nduja Butter which was also superb. With a bottle of Le Versant Viognier the bill came to £79.45. The only downside was a party of 5 who were seated in a central table half way through our meal. They were talking in loud voices and the acoustics made it nearly impossible to hear our own conversation. Apart from that I would thoroughly recommend the restaurant (I believe the same menu is available in the bar and on the small outside terrace)More

Lovely pub and restaurant. Our first night we sat outside for drinks. Good selection, great atmosphere and top service. We revisited for Sunday lunch the food was superb but a couple of niggles. Firstly offering table water and serving a £4.50 bottle of still water...is a tad cheeky. Lastly the vegetables to share are a small portion and despite ordering cauliflower cheese separately half the small portion of veg was cauliflower florets. Still tasted amazing but I would suggest that if cauliflower cheese is ordered separately don't include it in the veg or at least reduce the amount of it.More
