I booked the Grinch brunch at the York venue which has been up and running for a few weeks- This was my second visit to the place. The booking was for 5 adults and two children- I had paid a £35 deposit - We were...shown to our table and had to wait 30 mins before we were asked if we would like any drinks - The server told us what was included in the brunch so we ordered the hot chocolates 2 adult 1 child a latte a mulled wine and an orange juice. The server then came back after 5 mins and advised the Drinks were not included only tea or coffee- I advised this was fine - 30 mins later we got our drinks- We were then asked how many of the Grinch brunch we requested - £25 adults and £12.50 kids- We chose two adult and one child as the server said there was enough to share one between two - The server came back to double check the order . A whole hour passed and we were brought out 4 adults and two children's - I explained this was not what we ordered- They then said they could leave two and go make up a child's one - the scrambled egg, bacon and pancakes were cold so I asked them to take them back- A different server came over and said this is what you ordered- I informed him no it was not I was very aware of what we ordered and wanted this rectifying. A third server came over and took all the food away and 20 mins later we were brought what we asked for . This experience was not value for money the staff made me feel very small and the experience was very disappointing- This was supposed to be a wonderful Xmas start for my family after a very difficult year and I went away feeling I had let my family down. The cost of the brunch is over priced for a sugar rush! However i would of paid any amount for this occasion- which in the end was not an enjoyable experience. To have a Grinch character or some reference to the Grinch other than a shot of pineapple juice with some green candy floss on top and a green and red granola yogurt is not really pulling out of the bag - My grand children were highly disappointed, as this was just cakes on on a fancy stand and had no real Grinch reference , even cardboard Grinch figures would of been better. To leave a new venue feeling let down is not good .More
Came here for a friends 50th afternoon tea, I asked for my sandwiches to be just cheese as I’m a fussy eater but I didn’t get any quiche and the mini roast pudding wasn’t replaced with anything else! Definitely not worth in my opinion and...will NOT return had high hopes for this place Cake selection was poor too. A friend got coffee + was only allowed one! I thought it was limitless just like the tea was? Just beware folksMore
Lovely venue for a birthday treat for me and my daughter. The food and the setting was perfect. The staff were all so friendly and attentive. The food was all reasonably priced and presented to such a high standard.
As this is such a new venue in York it doesn't have any reviews yet. My friend took me for lunch here and it was wonderful. The food, service and surroundings are brilliant. The cakes look amazing but we had no room for one. We...had the platter which is a mix of savoury food. Mine was slightly different as I don't eat smoked salmon or ham. Not over the top prices and we will definitely go background for cakes.More
Really great place , with lovely staff and great food ! We had the afternoon tea for two and it was the best scone i’ve had in a while. Our waitress, Lucy, was attentive and polite and we felt well looked after and all the...staff members were extremely friendly :) We will definitely be back !!More
Visit was today , opening day at York operation ,food excellent, staff very professional will visit again .Lord Westerman...
We visited for afternoon tea and it was absolutely packed, but despite this the service was efficient and the staff were friendly and attentive. It is one of the most unique afternoon teas that I have had, and was particularly impressed by the savoury selection....Would definitely like to visit again.More
I went with a group of friends for afternoon tea and to say we were impressed is an understatement. We couldn't believe how delicious each morsel of food was, both savoury and sweet. The caramelised onion quiche was a big favourite and for me the...carrot cake was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble, the staff were so helpful. We were grateful we could take away all the fabulous items we couldn't quite manage. Hopefully when any of us are in Harrogate (or York) we can visit again.More
I booked the Halloween singalong with my son and my best friend. It was absolutely brilliant. The food was delicious( and even had 3 boxes of it to take away as it was plentiful!) I didn't know what to expect with the entertainment but Singtasia...were fantastic. Jafar, Ursuela, and Winnie from Hocus Pocus brilliantly acted and sang several Halloween,/baddie themed songs. They engaged with everyone and even put my son at ease- who was unsure at first as they were so convincing! At the end they did the Happy Birthday song for 3 guests and gave them a cupcake each. Afterwards I let a waiter know they I had also booked for my Birthday, (and wrote this on the booking), as it would have been nice to have a little cake too. Anyhow, bless him, he let Singtasia know, and ran for another cupcake whilst everyone sang a second edition of Happy Birthday with Jafar sat next to me! It felt like the staff truly cared for everyone's experience. They topped it off with a surprise little bag of sweeties and chocolates for each child. I will definitely be returning. Thank you for making it such a special morning.More
Love the atmosphere and beautiful afternoon tea, top quality. Lovely place to visit for girlie afternoon tea. Can't wait for it to open new Emporium in York later this year.
This venue was recommended to us by a lady in the gift shop at Mother Shipton's Cave earlier in the day as an alternative to Bettys tea rooms. We found it quite easily opposite the railway station in Harrogate. We hadn't booked which would probably...be a good idea as this place is popular but we were lucky to get a table. The staff are very nice and helpful, the menu is is quite substantial and there are many choices to be had. All the crockery has been donated and everything is different, it was a joy to drink tea from bone china cups. The cake selection is to die for so don't eat here if your calorie counting. There is a shop at the front where you can purchase very inventive and expertly made cakes of all shapes nd sizes, would definitely go back there when visiting Harrogate.More
Wow! It’s a must visit! Afternoon tea was out of this world! Staff can’t do enough for you! My hubby booked and asked for a red rose and they delivered! Even bought a cake to take home.
My lunch was not the usual experience at M D, they didn’t have any rhubarb gin for their signature cocktail & refused to get some! My jacket potato was not hot or cooked through, salad was a bit limp.
A beautiful setting for our afternoon tea. The food was amazing - sandwiches on different breads - brioche, bagel, rye bread with delicious fillings. The scone and cakes were fab too. The service was excellent and we were looked after by Leah who was so...polite and friendly- she made the afternoon extra special. Would definitely recommend afternoon tea here.More
