I had a large group gathering in Derby and choose 'the kitchen' as the place to go for breakfast. They were quick to respond to my email and kindly reserved a large table in their room upstairs for peak time on Sunday morning. Tasty food that came out hot and well presented. Everyone loved the tea pots and cute jug... More

Found this lovely little tearoom with friendly staff and amazing cake. Pretty decor as well as vintage cookery and kitchenware items for sale makes sure you always have something interesting to look at whilst you eat. Enjoyed the hot chocolate where you get to make your own by stirring in tiny chocolate buttons. Would certainly recommend.

Very friendly and very busy. This turned out to be a good thing. Actually we all had different combination. My English breakfast tea and coffee and chocolate cake was very good. Hot chocolate turned out to be large glass of hot milk with some chocolate to mix in and was much enjoyed. Cheese and fruit scones were both enjoyed. All... More

So happy to find they were open boxing day. Had my usual choice of chicken panini with a coffee, could have eaten it again as it is so tasty! Husband had a beef panini that I had a bite of, I might be tempted away from my chicken one next time. Followed up the meal with a slice of banoffee... More

Long wait to order in a really quiet period, cold plates and poor communication from the kitchen. The breakfasts were not presented well and went cold remarkably quickly. I've been here many times and left feeling unfulfilled and a bit disappointed. The cake counter looked lack lustre, it usually has me drooling, needless to say I'm worried what has become... More

What a gem of a place, tucked down a side street, The Kitchen was a real find, excellent service, breakfast was brilliant, and love the way they serve your tea pot on top of your cup, and the way you get your milk in a flip top bottle. Amazing place, would recommend to all.

We call for a very quick breakfast as we were at an appointment in half an hour. Very good Sausage sandwich on Granary thick cut bread and a lovely pile of scrambled eggs on granary toast for the Wife. All served in super speedy time so we could get to we're we needed to be. The absolute best. Two fabulous... More

Went for a quick lunch and portions were tiny! £9-50 for nothing more than a side salad, very disappointed as have been previously and enjoyed the food. Only bonus was the scone which was ace.

Dear Hugh, many thanks for your review...however confusing it is regarding the salad. We don't actually have side salads on the menu. The only salad you could have had is a steak beef salad which is usually full bowl by the time we add everything that goes into it and that one is 9.50. Chicken caesar is 8.50, black pudding...
