We have just been to the fawlty towers experience had a fantastic time, so funny great show basil was amazing
Having been previously to en event, which was good, we have tried to book another two events. The first event was cancelled on us after booking and no suitable alternative was in place so had to push for a refund. The second event, I have...phoned and emailed at least 6 times various contact details at The Bell and no one has responded in full to my enquiry after being advised on the phone to the events line “I’m just a barman”. Still waiting for the manager Sean Brough to get back to me. Communications are very poor. And family who went to the ghost tour event said the food was horrendous and the event was woeful. Shame as the Fawlty Towers event was excellent and the venue is a very prestigious building.More
great little place, fantastic coffee and tea, and even a bit of homemade cake great service from some really pleasant servers.
We went for a ghost tour and supper at this wonderful old hotel/pub.our guide was Jack, funny, informative,we explored parts of the hotel the staff were afraid to go alone!followed by a supper of yummy sausage ans mash in the Tudor room in front of a roaring...fire.absolutely excellent, thanku so much really enjoyed it!!!!More
Went to the Scrooge evening last night with a group of friends what a throughly enjoyable evening. Food was good but the Lost boys were quite simply brilliant a really good laugh ….would recommend the evening to anyone and good value for money
Went on the Ghost walk with some friends. Hands down the scariest part of this whole experience was the food. Parts of the tour were up and down very dark , poorly lit steps with no handrail in places. Very poor safety and only a...matter of time before someone falls. Some of the history spoken about was interesting but no part of it was remotely scary or ghostly. Returning for “supper” and served undercooked sausage, watery tasteless mash and tinned peas was a real treat. We did not eat it. £30 per head !! An absolute joke. Would not recommend this to anyone at all. We have been before to The Fawlty Towers experience which was great so we were all very disappointed.More
I'm sorry to hear you did not enjoy your Ghost Tour. These events are very popular and always sell out. All our stairs have handrails, but please let us know if there was a particular area you were concerned about. Some of the areas are...More
The Old Bell on a Thursday was quiet, they rang the bell for last orders just after 21:30, we had barely been in the building 10 mins, strange thing to do, not a charming place.
We had the most amazing wedding day with our family and friends on 9 9,22. Planning and support from Sean the event manager was outstanding with great communication ,advice and ideas. Great choice of packages that were flexible to accommodate dietary and allergy needs. Everything...ran smoothly on the day, Great food, great staff and all in all a really great venue. Lastly was great for my now wife to have a dedicated room at the venue to get ready in with her Bridal partyMore
Excellent Sunday lunch. Staff very smart and polite. Bass beer spot on. Would definitely recommend to friends
We had our Family Sunday dinner delivered last Sunday after a recommendation and I couldn't recommend enough. It arrived within the time allocated by a very friendly driver and there was more than enough food. It wasn't the hottest dinner we've ever had but it...had travelled to Chellaston. We warmed it through a little and it all tasted delicious. Thank you and will be passing on the word. We had Lamb, Beef and a pork dinner with desserts to follow.More
Was shocking Xmas lunch and was all cold. Staff had no clue what was going on and the elusive Brad, event organiser, im not sure even exits! Room was freezing cold. I know it's been sold but very, very poor effort for £75 per head....Never again. I'm hoping to to get a refund for poor food and lack of organisation but I bet that doesn't happen hey. Think I'll be paying a visit to try and get this fairly sorted.More
We attended the Fawlty Towers experience at the Old Bell. A magnificent event where we were laughing all evening. Wonderfully acted and a truly immersive experience. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. A fun experience that we are really looking...to repeating next year. Thank you Brad and the team.More
We went as a group of 12 and managed to get a table in the Tudor Room by the huge real fire. The lady who looked after us was really nice and couldn't do enough for us. The food is fabulous and there is lots...of it. One of the group is a vegetarian and said what he had was nice but would have prefered a few more options. I had the beef and my partner had the chicken both really nice. The only slight downside is it was really busy but I guess it is Christmas. We will be back very soon.More
Stopped in for a quick rest and a drink. It's friendly place with lots of history and a decor to suit a pub of such age. I notice plenty of adverts for interesting looking gourmet nights and events though, they are a bit out of...my price range. I didn't stay long but it left an impression which is more than can be said for many pubs. Would recommend.More
