We had beef and lamb shank roasts with all the trimmings delivered to our door. It arrived earlier than expected (gladly, as we were starving!) but had an email to say it was on its way with the ability to track the delivery through an app which was good. All food arrived well packaged, smelling delicious and, most importantly, very hot. Both roasts tasted really good with the red cabbage, beef, Yorkshire puddings and cauliflower cheese being particular highlights. Through the ordering system on their website, there is also the ability to order extra portions, puddings and drinks. Initially, we felt the price was perhaps a little on the steep side; however, considering the generous portion size, great delivery and good standard of food, we now feel that, overall, it was fair. During this time of lockdown, it's so nice to treat yourself to something a little different and being able to have a lovely meal that we haven't had to cook was great. Would recommend and will order again.

Firstly had the Sunday lunch which was okay. Quite good portion sizes but the roast potatoes weren't nice and tasted that they'd been cooked the day before.
Had burgers and sides on Burger Night. This was quite frankly a rip-off! Burgers were nice but came with a handful of cold chips. I wasn't expecting them to be hot but they weren't even wrapped up and the food arrived earlier than we booked it for. The onion rings weren't homemade, expensive for how many we got and the mac n' cheese was really overpriced. I ordered sticky toffee pudding which was nice but the amount of cream that I got was a joke! Also, had the chicken strips which again were expensive for what you got and didn't come with any sauce, as advertised.
I was expecting to be full for the meal which cost over £50 odd for two but I wasn't at all!

Ordered burgers to be delivered to the marketplace with friends. Nice amount of choice on the menu and the food came quickly unlike other vendors offering delivery.
To be honest I didn't know much about the Old Bell until we ordered and we were pleasantly surprised. The fried chicken burger was really tasty with clearly home made chicken and lovely fresh salad. The burger buns were amazing as we're the fries. Only thing would be to add more of the sauce as I couldn't really taste it. Friends had beefburgers which had good reviews too.
Cutlery and napkins would have been a welcome addition.
Would recommend!

Met with a group of friends on a Saturday. Called ahead to book a table in the Tudor Bar, and on arrival there was a wedding party in the main bar and in the Tudor Bar. We felt quite awkward for the first half an hour of our visit, and that we were crashing the wedding, and would have appreciated a suggestion either that we booked in for half an hour or so later, when the wedding party had left, or even just a heads up that there was going to be a wedding on. The service was good to say that there was only one person running the bar. We ordered our food and did not have to wait too long for it to arrive, although when it did arrive we found small portions, and food of varying quality that did not match what was advertised on the menu. A grilled caesar salad wrap had small hard dry chunks of chicken in, and was certainly not as advertised, the chips were not "rosemary" chips, and the sausage and mash was overpriced to say that you only got two sausages. It is a shame because the venue itself is pleasant, but we do not intend on returning for food.

A friend suggested we try out this place for Sunday dinner which turned out to be very disappointing to say the least. When our food arrived there were a lot of problems, the roast chicken was very dry and unseasoned, the roast potatoes tasted like they were cooked the day before and reheated in the microwave - hard on the outside and soggy on the inside. The stuffing was rock hard (it nearly flew of my plate when I tried to cut into it!), the Yorkshire puds were burnt to a crisp and the only veg we were given was red cabbage & a bowl of peas, aubergine and soggy leeks all mixed together, no carrots? no broccoli? Our food was also supposed to be served with cauliflower cheese however, the staff had failed to tell us that they had ran out until we had asked them about it. We asked the manager for a refund and I must say his customer service skills were appalling! He approached our table without even saying hello or apologising for the quality of our meals, all he said was 'whats the problem?'. He had a bad attitude and was very rude to us. It's safe to say that I will most definitely not be returning to the old bell for food or drinks!
On a side note the waitresses and bar staff were very polite, its just a shame about their manager and the food!

We ordered 2 roasts and deserts for home delivery. Communication was good however when it was delivered the lamb, potatoes, Yorke and stuffing was stone cold, we got a tiny amount of custard, almost a thimble amount and the ice cream was missing from the tiny chocolate brownie making the deserts extremely expensive. The bill came to £50 for 2 and I expect for that price the food to be excellent. I did email them straight afterwards but sadly not heard anything back 3 days in.
I am very disappointed 😞

Searched online for somewhere suitable half way to meet friends, The website of the Old Bell Hotel looked very inviting to meet for Sunday lunch, to me I thought Hotel = proper restaurant, nice tables etc, how wrong could I have been. All looked good from the outside, nice oldy black and white building, on entering I thought we had gone into just a bar area, approached the bar to ask where the restaurant was, only to be told they served the food in the bar. We are not posh people by any means but when I book a table at a restaurant I do not expect to be eating in a bar at a hotel with very limited menu. I am sorry to say, that as soon as our friends arrived we left and found somewhere else.

Please note- two separate emails have been sent to ask them to rectify & respond to my complaint almost two weeks ago and still have not had one reply.
Ordered two Sunday meals to be delivered. Going on the promise of “ no soggy roasties” “piping hot meals” “ gravy put in a separate pot”
Meals arrived lukewarm which was concerning, gravy poured all over the meal, so very wet soggy roasties & Yorkshire puds. The custard for our desserts had spilled all over the packaging. Thus a right mess and left with very little custard.
It’s a real shame as I am sure if these issues were rectified it would have been a lovely meal, plenty of meat, very good size meal.
The part that is annoying us mostly is they have totally just ignored our emails. Demonstrating they don’t care about there customers experience.

Visited on a early Sunday afternoon and had an absolutely fantastic time, staff are well dressed in waistcoats and very polite and accommodating. Brilliant choice of real ales and wines, I had a ale I was informed is brewed in small batches just for them. We visited in the cross overs of the menus so had a choice of Sunday dinner and breakfast, my Sunday dinner was fantastic best I have had out for as long as I can remember my partner had scrambled eggs and salmon smile on her face the entire time. Definitely worth a visit !

Table booked for 7.30 pm. only two other tables occupied, one a table of three the other a table of eight men. Told sirloin steak and rump steak not available, only the dearer cuts of fillet and chateaubriand. Ordered fillet steak which was only warm not hot. Starter ordered was king prawns in garlic and chilli, three small prawns ( not king sized) in a ramekin. Table of eight men became very loud and every other word was a four letter word. Complained to the waitress who said the table of eight men would be leaving and what could she do. Doorman on the pub/restaurant not called for. Spent £158 in total in the Bell and Belfry. Poor value for money and won't go again. emailed the bell the following day regarding these problems , still awaiting a response 4 days later.

Since the March lockdown I’ve had the Sunday dinner delivered half a dozen times!
The website is easy to use. It is always delivered on time, well packaged in eco packaging and still warm. The lamb is my favourite as it melts of the bone, the red cabbage is really good, the cauliflower cheese is amazing and the both the banana and white chocolate milkshakes are ace!
It’s a been a real treat as we weren’t able to get out much during the later half of my pregnancy and with a newborn...best Sunday dinner I’ve had this year!!!

It was getting late in the evening and so we decided to try The Old Bell Burger night menu. We opted for the Blue Cheese Burger and the Cheese and Bacon Burger with fries and onion rings.
Food was delivered on time and piping hot, which was a welcome surprise.
Overall the burgers were very tasty and great with the fries. A little disappointed with the onion rings, not as thick as we thought they would be, but this maybe because we ordered so late.
However, would most definitely order again!

Worst Sunday lunch I’ve had in a long time!
Looking at the menu I felt like they couldn’t go wrong and it sounded amazing! Oh boy was I wrong!!
I picked the lamb shank.... it’s came.. it was cold, the gravy was burnt, the Yorkshire was burnt and flavourless, the roasties were dry as if they’d been sat out all day then reheated.
The staff oh dear god.... not a hint of customer service. Some of the worst customer service I have ever received. The manager just stood over me muttering time himself, didn’t apologise, was rude. There are much better places to go in Derby for Sunday lunch. I wouldn’t waste your money or time eating here.

As discussed on the day, I was really sorry to hear you did not enjoy your Sunday lunch with us.
We serve hundreds of Sunday lunches per month and the majority are extremely happy.
When I heard of some issues at your table, I came straight over, listened to your grievances and made a full refund for your Lamb dish, as well as an apology. Not sure which bit of that is not classed as good customer service. Maybe you an call me directly to discuss to see if we can remedy anything else.
We are proud of our Sunday lunches and always take customer feedback seriously and discuss it with the kitchen team in order to improve our product, which again on this occasion has been done.

Having been previously to en event, which was good, we have tried to book another two events. The first event was cancelled on us after booking and no suitable alternative was in place so had to push for a refund. The second event, I have phoned and emailed at least 6 times various contact details at The Bell and no one has responded in full to my enquiry after being advised on the phone to the events line “I’m just a barman”. Still waiting for the manager Sean Brough to get back to me. Communications are very poor. And family who went to the ghost tour event said the food was horrendous and the event was woeful. Shame as the Fawlty Towers event was excellent and the venue is a very prestigious building.

Present from the in-laws. A Sunday lunch delivered from the Old Bell. We had lamb shanks and profiteroles. Delivered hot in eco boxes, we were able to sit and eat immediately. Large portions and delicious. Only comment I would make is that the pot of gravy is not required since the lamb was served in gravy.
