Lovely location just a few minutes drive from the M4. It provided an ideal stopover on the way home South. Great, friendly staff and wonderful service. Rooms brand new, spotless and great quality. We have rebooked already and wanted to book more but it's proving very popular very quickly, which obviously says it all. Breakfast was from the farm and... More

This place is amazing! The food was sublime. We shared breads and pork rillettes. Even the mini gherkins and pickled cabbage were to die for. The mains: mine, the organic fillet from their farm with picked today asparagus and tasty buttery potato gratin ... just a beautiful delightfully tender tasty steak. I've eaten some great steak in some top class... More

If I found my self in a room and at a place like this I’d feel like I’d arrived in some sort of heaven. I did, it was! All in all a very good night in a very lovely place with great food, breakfast, service and an atmosphere of joy and good times!

We live fairly local to this pub and often like to try different pubs or restaurants with some nice home cooked food. I'd been trying to get into the Helen Brownings chophouse restaurant - but it always seemed busy- so managed to book a table at the Royal Oak instead. What a lovely pub in Bishopstone. the service was brilliant... More

In today's world of digital navigation, the UK is fairly well mapped, so if you KNOW you are going to Helen Browning's Royal Oak, your GPS will get you there. But, you are certainly not going to bump into Bishopstone accidentally unless you are intent upon bombing across the Swindon countryside making every endeavor to avoid A routes. Helen Browning's... We visited the Royal Oak as we wanted to sample the locally sourced organic food. Living fairly close we could have driven home after our evening meal but decided to treat ourselves to an overnight stay. We were not disappointed. On arrival we were met by Tim who immediately made us feel welcome and at home. Our bedroom, situated in... More

The Royal Oak has long been a favourite of ours to come and eat due to it being one of the only places in Wiltshire that serves high quality local, organic food. They have now gone one step further by adding a suite of beautiful rooms adjacent to the pub, each one unique in character and themed after an area... More

My word! Superb. I haven't had a meal as good as this for at least 2 weeks. The pub is wonderfully decorated and the staff were most welcoming. Plenty of local ales on sale and an organic menu to boot. We intend to return and I hope I can convince the wife that this is sooner rather than later. Belly... More

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left our party was overcome with a feeling of warmth. Imaginative décor complimented by an organic menu served with local beers. We will return!

So - having been overambitious with our timings on our walk east out of the village , then south to the Ridgeway - and miss map reading on my part we headed west and finally north via barbed wire and steep sheep tracks and were late for our 2.30pm table. Keen to show respect and be good customers we phoned... More
