The place is designed so customers can see everything going on, so cleanliness is on view. After 33 years of the same owners, the building will be demolished with the bus station at some point. I don't know of any other café in the town...More

This is a regular spot to have a cup of tea or coffee close to the bus station. It serves typical cafe food such as sandwiches, cakes and hot food. There's always a seat to be had and the staff are always pleasant and friendly.

Came in briefly. Not a bad place at all. Am in Swindon a lot so should really give this place a visit more often. Real handy being in the bus station and not too far from the train station so handy enough for travellers

Description
The Octagon Restaurant is a family-run business that has been proudly serving the people of Swindon for over 30 years. Customers have a wide variety of meals, snacks and beverages to choose from as The Octagon champion homemade products. As the only remaining members of the Craft Bakers Association left in Swindon, artisan baking is the heart and soul of the business. The chefs continue to make their own bread rolls, scones, quiche, pie, soup, cakes and biscuits as they have since the day of opening.

Our location is less than one minute’s walk from Swindon town centre. Attached to the bus station and just around the corner from Swindon train station, the octagon is the perfect pit stop for travellers and locals alike.

The building itself is unique; seven sides of the premises are glazed, making The Octagon the perfect place to watch the world go by over a coffee. Another architectural delight is the suspended ceiling, supported entirely by six huge pillars within the restaurant itself.

Proprietor Dennis Offer has followed in family footsteps, risking everything to open an independent business in the spring of 1985. Over 65 years his family have employed and trained hundreds of people in Swindon and raised thousands of pounds for charity.
