Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I popped into this restaurant for coffee and a scone. Came to a whopping £7.45! I was stunned. The coffee was £3.50 and the tiny scone with little fruit in it, a heaped tspn of cream (how generous) 1/4 tablespn cheap jam and a small...pat of butter. Absolutely overpriced. All I can say is that we must be paying for the heating in the place! I will not be going to this restaurant again! I think the majority that go here are well off pensioners who don't mind being ripped off!More

Absolutely fantastic place, atmosphere very comfortable, staff very polite and friendly, food out of this world. Food arrived at table hot and looked delicious as well as tasting absolutely scrumptious. Would we go again? - Oh yes definitely we are already talking about going again...next week. If I could give a rating out of 10 I would rate it 20/10. If you haven't been, what are you waiting for? Get yourself there ASAP you are certainly missing out on a great experience.More

Astonishingly poor value. Had an hour to kill so decided to have a larger lunch to save cooking in the evening. My meal wasn't even on a full size plate and at £11.75 the profit margins must be enormous!! I don't feel like I have...eaten a meal and honestly think £3.75 would be a more fair price. How is this place so popular?More

OMG - Times are hard and it tells - 6 chips and they count them! It makes no difference if you go for light bites or the 2 course meal. Rip off - nowhere in my life have I been to a restaurant where they...count the chips. The gravy and mushy peas pots were smaller than the ketchup pot. Go in for a coffee but do not go in for food.More

We ordered a menu at £12 (1 each) Prawn cocktail i love prawn witj Fish bites café and tea included...the size of the prawn cocktail was so small i would have put side mayo in it...bites was just 2 bites of fish...chips about 8 to...10 chips...the desert was ok...they must have made 98% profit on it...i won't be going back in a rush...the price of a can of coke is a staggering £2.45...if you want value for money go somewhere else...i should have returned the meal when we got it..😠More

There can't be a more civilised, stylish and relaxing fish n'chip restaurant anywhere. A pianist serenely playing the piano in a conservatory style environment whilst enjoying an excellent British fish n'chip supper, traditionally accompanied by bread and butter and a pot of tea. Olympus is...also licensed with wine and beer choices. The menu features varied dishes, several versions of fish dishes, battered or grilled, as well as pizzas. All supported by rapid service. Prices seem reasonable, cheaper than some pubs for fish n'chips. The restaurant is spacious, airy and uncluttered. Very enjoyable first visit. It closes early evening.More

A one off visit. Charging £16 for a chippy meal with a cup of tea is just way way too much .The portions weren’t even large. Staff were polite and attentive but I’ll stick to my local chip shop in future.

Pleasant meal in up market surroundings. We even had the pianist playing while we finished our meal. We went early on a Friday evening and there were about 40 other people in the large restaurant. We went for the pensioner’s special - fish chips bread...and butter tea or coffee. The portions were small but what you would expect. The price was low for a restaurant meal. Meal was well cooked and service was very fast.More

Ordered fish, chips and gravy to takeaway. First thing I noticed was what a small portion it was. Fish was okay but I’ve had a lot better and there wasn’t much of it. Chips were just dry and tasteless. I’d ask for gravy on the...chips first and the fish on top. Ate the fish to find that there was hardly gravy on my chips and it was all on one side. I managed to eat the chips that actually had gravy on as it made them a bit more moist and had to leave the rest. Was overpriced for what it was and won’t be going back. It’ll be back to my local chippy were the fish is twice as big and tastes fresher, you get three times as many chips that are piping hot and it’s about 40% cheaper!More

Food was really lovely. Fish and the chips were crispy and hot. Proper mushy peas! Felt like a proper chippy dinner and the seating venue was really comfy and classy! I would come back.

Our visit with my Mum who does like her fish and chips was excellent. The "pensioners specials" was just the job for her and she pronounced the food the best fish she'd had for a long time. Our was also lovely and fresh. Very busy...with a piano player too.More
