Visited with daughter & young granddaughter. Very pleasant atmosphere, pianist playing. Service bit slow but not great problem. Really enjoyed our meal, pensioner fish & chips, good value, included bread & butter + pot of tea. Obviously popular with older customers, definitely have their regulars. Would recommend.

I have only ordered a few takeaways since the start of the first lockdown. Mainly because I enjoy cooking, but also because the takeaways I did have were very poor, greasy and didn't taste fresh. For me to have a takeaway, is a treat so it needs to be as good, if not better than my own cooking.
Today I thought I would give Olympus a try. Instead of going through Just Eat, I decided to order directly through the Olympus website. The website is a breeze to navigate and has a comment box for specific requests. Was also good to save a bit on the price compared to the same order through Just Eat.
I ordered 3 lightly battered cod, with a large portion of chips and a regular potion of chips. The food turned up piping hot and precisely on time. The delivery driver was polite, friendly and adhered to Covid precautions.
Most importantly the food was excellent and the portions were massive. Definitely the best fish and chips I have had in a long time. The food was very fresh and you could tell the cooking oil was clean, without any stale aftertaste.
If you have a craving for a really good fish and chips, I highly recommend Olympus.
You won't be disappointed!

Missed ? Yes, most definitely.
Due to current issues, it is over 12 months since we last visited, it used to be at least once a month.
In my view, to be a first class restaurant you need 3 things: Excellent Food, (obviously), a clean and pleasant environment and customer focused, friendly and competent staff.
Even though they were a little under pressure due to the amount of customers and a couple of staff who were off, the whole experience was as good as ever, from the warm welcome at the door to the fish and chips and excellent live piano music.
The indicator with regards to quality food is that nothing is left on the plate, and that was the case with us yet again.
Tasos, Ali and the whole team, keep up the exceptional work.

Visited today hoping for s cooked Breakfast at a discounted price only to be told that they are serving a limited menu atm.
Coffee,Tea, Toast,Beans on toast & Cheese on toast ( at £5.50!! ).
Decided to just have a Coffee and eat elsewhere.
Bill came at £2.80 and queried this as I thought non-alcoholic drinks were incl in the scheme.They insisted ALL drinks were excluded so I paid and left.
After leaving I noticed several notices in the window advertising the scheme and said it includes ' non-alcoholic drinks'.
Doesn't seem to be complying with the scheme to me!

What is all the fuss about. People who rate this place 5 star must have never been anywhere other than Bolton to eat. There are very few English fish and chip shops in Bolton, other than takeaways that also sell kebabs and pizza so not the same. I have recently moved to Bolton so gave it a go, Ridiculous prices, for small amount of OK food. I must say takeaways and food in Bolton are quite horrid compared to where I used to live so maybe thats why people rate it a so good, because they have never been anywhere else to know what good food is for HALF the PRICE!
You are all getting RIPPED OFF!

The Good: Great Staff, lovely venue, spotless toilets, quick service.
The Bad: Chips were absolutely terrible, the fish was small (for the price) and the peas OK.
I asked for the lunchtime special, Fish Chips & Peas 1 slice of bread and butter and tea or coffee, I had coffee but it wasn't hot the price was £13.95 I wasn't expecting that!!
I considered the serving to be somewhere between a small and medium meal.
If you own a fish and chips establishment and you cannot get these two elements 100% right then it's time to move on.
I went to the toilet before leaving and purposely looking around the restaurant both going and returning to my seat I noticed lots of plates with food which had been left especially the chips. I was so disappointed!!
I wish I had gone to Subway across the road.

Ordered fish, chips and gravy to takeaway. First thing I noticed was what a small portion it was. Fish was okay but I’ve had a lot better and there wasn’t much of it. Chips were just dry and tasteless. I’d ask for gravy on the chips first and the fish on top. Ate the fish to find that there was hardly gravy on my chips and it was all on one side. I managed to eat the chips that actually had gravy on as it made them a bit more moist and had to leave the rest. Was overpriced for what it was and won’t be going back. It’ll be back to my local chippy were the fish is twice as big and tastes fresher, you get three times as many chips that are piping hot and it’s about 40% cheaper!

This restaurant was a regular visit for me and my family at one time but not these days as being ripped off for a child size meal on half sized plates past off as adult sizes, Does the owner think we do not notice this fact ! having someone help you on with your jacket is great but the bill will knock your block off. All of this in the middle of a price of living crises and bolton becoming very down at heel,Not the go to town it once was. This chippy will find it very difficult to survive with the prices they expect you to just suck up ! At the prices they ask i will not be returning to this chippy ever again as it has just become totally unaffordable ( I will just go to a 5 star hotel for my chips it is cheaper) just a big ripoff really very sad.

I specifically made an account to write about my horrific experience at the Olympus restaurant. The restaurant has a great atmosphere with the sound of the piano. I loved the strong smell of coffee I was getting as soon as I was sat down. The calming atmosphere dropped as soon as I saw the prices this fish and chips restaurant had to offer. A cod special was £13, seemed reasonable but once you taste the food it’s absolutely shocking, the fries were soggy and the fish just not right. I’ll rather go McDonald’s and get a fish filet burger from there. The prices are high for food that’s not great. I came once and once it shall remain. If you want to spend money come at the Olympus Fish and Chips Restaurant.

Pleasant meal in up market surroundings. We even had the pianist playing while we finished our meal. We went early on a Friday evening and there were about 40 other people in the large restaurant. We went for the pensioner’s special - fish chips bread and butter tea or coffee. The portions were small but what you would expect. The price was low for a restaurant meal. Meal was well cooked and service was very fast.

Positives:
Waiter service and piano player were like going back in time. Spacious, immaculate toilets, home made pies, well cooked chips.
Negatives:
Over priced, the waiters don't take the orders so you have to queue, portion size small.
Overall:
Well worth a visit.

Laughably expensive and not even decent quality never mind good.
Maybe the fryer was having a bad day because it was so bad I binned my meal even though it was almost double the price of an average chippy.
This place has been there a long long time so they must be doing something right though my experience was very poor.

Amazing Staffs with a delicious food. A big menu with lots of things and many choices ,I had a grilled salmon with a chips and curry sauce it was yummy and food served hot and fresh. Love it!

I've been visiting Bolton for years and amazingly have never noticed this place especially as it's huge. Was invited to a family 60th and was impressed with the place the minute I walked in. The largest and poshest chippy I've ever been in.
However that's where the good review ends. Ok , the service was fantastic but we are talking about food and it was massively overpriced for what you got. I had the special , which was a very small fish and a few chips. It came with a side of mushy peas which I don't like so I was able to change this for gravy which was thin and tasteless and looked like dirty dishwater . Can't fault the taste of the haddock and chips but overall just too small portions and too high a price. I've been to Whitby a few times and their chippys wipe the floor with this place.

Firstly I’m not sure what they are trying to do here, what type of clientele they are trying to attract in Bolton. With the grand piano and chandeliers? Secondly, we couldn’t believe the prices, are we paying for the cost of the heating as it was stifling hot in there? We made a decision to go for a special 3 course (a drink being one of the courses - how strange). Upon ordering we were told “oh that’s going to be a tiny portion size” he showed us with his fingers how tiny the piece of fish/pie would be…. A quarter of an actual portion he said. We had a think and decided to leave and go elsewhere. I’m not sure who can afford this? It’s not on a high street in London. This is in Bolton? Sometimes you just want a chippy without all the fuss. I can see why it’s warm for pensioners to keep warm vs heating their own homes. And the piano is probably lovely when someone is playing it. But the prices really need to be looked at. We went to the Town Cafe round the corner and had 2 large meals and drinks for cheaper than 1 meal here. Such a shame it used to be great. The staff are quite forceful too.
