Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked for Mothers Day, We were sat upstairs near the bar, Our waitress was very attentive, but run of her feet, food good . However the restaurant was definitely overbooked and some tables were waiting a long time for food I felt sorry for the...waitresses as they bore the brunt of the complaints from the customers, manager seemed very inexperienced and it really could do with someone more experienced .More

We went in a party of 10 for Mother’s Day we will not be going back and will be telling everyone I know not to bother! It took ages for them to take our drinks order and at least 30 minutes before they took our...food order starter and main. It took quite a while before they came back to clear up from the starter then didn’t reset the table when they brought the main corse we had to ask twice for more cutlarey again once we had finished took ages to come and clean up and to take an order for dessert then 15 minutes later someone came over and told us we couldn’t have dessert and we would have to leave as we had gone over the two hour tab rule that we knew nothing about. We have been to many restaurants over the years and I have never been asked to leave before must be making too much money if they can ask paying customers to leave before they have finished and loose out on 8 deserts and several coffees. Absolutely outrageous and it wasn’t like the place was busy and had another 10 people waiting to be seated. NOT HAPPY.More

Great menu choice, nice service - plenty of staff on very attentive, good portion size and very tasty food. The pub part is dog friendly as well. Nice views with parking, will definitely return.

The reason for giving 1 is because,we had booked this restaurant well in advance and when we got there we were shown to our table, baring in mind it wasn’t that busy, however we had to wait before someone came to get the order for drinks and...that took them nearly half an hour before we got the drinks, then we had to wait for a while before someone took the order for the meal. it took ages before we got our starters which was basically olives whether they went to put the olives from the olive tree or probably went to the supermarket to get them. Again, it took ages to get a main meal. Ordered some chicken dish which was supposed to come with some veg and my wife had ordered a cheese and onion pie with some chunky chips. Hence the wife cheese and onion pie was called in the middle so we had to send it back and then I had to wait a good 15 minutes to get my vegetables for my dish only to be served with roast potatoes which were totally raw and cold. I did complain to some unexperienced so-called manager. All he said was that he was sorry and on top of that he said he won’t charge us for the meal which was totally rubbish, but had an audacity to charge us for the two drinks. We had. Therefore we won’t be going to Wilton Arms anymore. I have personally told a few of my friends not to bother going to WILTON ARMSMore

Large pub with dining areas, very little atmosphere. On arrival there was a long queue for drinks. Some large parties in and the bar staff were very inexperienced. It took some time to be seated and served. Putting aside the staff. who may improve in...time, the food was actually well presented and tasty. Average pub prices. So a mixed experience.More

Really wanted this place to be good under new management as it has been going downhill for years, unfortunately it was really poor. The place was nearly empty when we arrived, possibly due to the fact that for some unfathomable reason they state they are...in ‘the heart of Belmont’ when in fact they are about three miles away so people may have got lost ….. I do live in the heart of Belmont and I wouldn’t be walking home from The Wilton! There was one young man serving and to be fair he was doing his best but the quality of the food was awful. We won’t be going back in a hurryMore

Visited for a Friday night couples dinner out. Have been previously and the food was terrible, but had heard the place was under new management so we thought we would give it a try Service was incredibly slow and when we happened to mention that...we had waited a considerable time for our drinks we were told that they were “busy” Food was terrible. Haloumi fries were actually cheese on toast .. chicken was raw in the middle , pizza tasteless ..wines are extremely poor (£3.99a bottle type ) but charged at extortionate prices. There was a large party in drinking whose kids were running the length of the bar/restaurant all evening .. not what you need after a long week at work. Glasses, plates etc all remained uncleared (can’t say empty as most food plates were at least half full when they had been abandoned) and did notice a customer clearing up (maybe an off duty staff member??) All in all a very expensive mistake never to be repeated. It’s such a shame as this place really could be fantastic , but needs a lot of work, new menu and probably new staff.More

Went here for the first time in ages, for tea with my wife and Granddaughter. Now under new management, we were expecting great changes. The only thing that has changed is that it's absolutely gone down the pan! Atmosphere gone, service terrible and food very...disappointing. How many pub restaurants don't have any peas, except mushy? They still charge premium prices, for less than ordinary food. Not a great recipe for customer satisfaction and the future of The Wilton Arms. We certainly won't be dining here again! Shame really!!More

Christmas Day lunch. My previous Christmas Day experiences not great but this was a very pleasant surprise. We were a party of seven including 3 children. We ordered a variety of food and we weren’t disappointed. The starters weren’t to the liking of the two...younger children but they were happy with the garlic bread offered. Also, the children’s portions were huge. Far too big. However, the food was hot and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Very happy 😃More

Worst Sunday lunch I’ve ever had. Asked for lamb, got beef. And the cheapest nastiest beef I’ve ever eaten. Frozen veg (still frozen) frozen Yorkshire pudding (still soggy) bistro gravy and barely cooked roast potatoes.Utterly dreadful food. At table check (right as I was finishing)...waitress was clearly uninterested in rectifying it. No apology. Charged us full price so we paid and left. Never to return. Their loss - we are locals who eat out Sunday lunch every week taking family with us every month. I’d be embarrassed to show that lunch to anyone.More

Lovely venue inside, however the food and service is a little to be desired. The staff looked like rabbits in the headlights with not a clue between them. We had to ask for cutlery, chase drinks, chase napkins and condiments we’d asked for. The food...was bland at best. Prawns that were tasteless led to us questioning why we’d spent nearly £32 on a prawn jacket potato and a fish finger wrap with two cordials and soda water. Shame really because the interior decor is extremely welcoming. Just not matched by the service and quality of food. Must do better.More
