Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Came here prior to going to a concert. Ok beer selection and basic food menu. Service was not fast - there was 1 person trying to do both serving the food and at the bar, so a lot of waiting. Average quality of food. Nice atmosphere

A nice pub with a decent choice of regularly changing real ales. The food is good although the veggie choice has declined recently. They hold regular beer festivals but the normal beers are a bit expensive for the area.

The only reason my friend & I entered this place was because I met him at the station & it was a convenient place to use the toilet & we couldn't be bothered to go elsewhere. We ended up staying for a drink & something to eat. The pub is very basic but it didn't really matter. The roast meals we had were acceptable apart from slightly overcooked carrots & a very unappealing dish of leeks in cheese sauce. He had sticky toffee pudding which was scrummy! In my opinion it was a place that was just above average but I would be happy to go back again if I had to.

The Queen’s Arms in Basingstoke provided us with fantastic service and hospitality. We were grateful they allowed us to use their small car park while we caught a train to London, and they were more than happy to accommodate us for a small fee. On our return, we stopped in for a drink and were warmly welcomed by a lovely lady who made us feel right at home. The friendly atmosphere and helpful staff make this pub a gem. We highly recommend it and will definitely be stopping by again whenever we’re in the area!

Stopped by as on way back to London, waiting for the Waterloo train. had a very warm welcome from a lovely lady serving the customers. As a CAMRA member i was going to sample some Ales, i thought ill leave that until im home up smoke, so opted for a Guinness, absolutely Top Notch it was too, served lovingly with a careful hand the barlady crafted a shamrock on the Vicars Collar. So good, stuff the next train back home, stayed for another couple, Lovely and relaxing, proper pub, which gets my vote everytime, a breath of fresh air from the usual boring white washed Gastro Pub. Would defo return, next time i visit Amazingstoke, no hesitation here, im going in. Thanks to the lovely polite barlady.

Popped in here for lunch today. The roast beef was delicious. All served with fresh vegetables and piping hot. I believe they have a new chef doing every Sunday now which is excellent news. Definitely the best Sunday roast in the town centre and superb value for money.

Before we all went on the train to Barnstaple to watch Basingstoke fc. We all went into the pub. Very nice people. Bar staff were very polite and my Guinness had a shamrock on it which I don’t receive anywhere. Nice few pints and friendly staff. Can’t get anything better. Lockdown happened so I will be returning soon

Went to the Queens Arms for a family Christmas meal. Menu choice looked good. Have been here before some time ago with work group and family birthday party and always had a good time and nice meal. Service was very attentive and prompt. Food was as stated and very nice. Very reasonable price. All covid safe measures taken with partition in place, masks, sanitisers and good spacing.

A pleasant and obliging landlady, delicious Thai food, beautifully presented. The place is small and the tables therefore very close together, so overhearing the conversation of neighbours is inevitable - and vice versa - but go there for the food!

Husband and I stopped off for some food. The Thai curry meal we both had was amazing. Lovely service too. Pleasantly surprised about the food as not very impressed with the restaurants in the town centre.

Excellent pub, great atmosphere and good drinks selection. Great to find a great traditional right by the station in Basingstoke. Good food as well a good beer garden. Would highly recommend.

If you're looking for what a British pub is all about, it's hard to fault this place. A small, independent establishment with a regularly changing selection of well-kept real ales, friendly and engaging service, excellent pub food, and chummy local customers. It's not completely disabled-friendly, although it's all on one level. The Queens Arms is, quite rightly, listed in the Good Beer Guide. I've been a few times in the last few years and there's always a warm welcome and a big feeling of satisfaction when, sadly and usually too soon, it's time to go home. It's a very easy trip from London by train too.

Chosen at random for a family and friends meet - great welcome from staff, good spread of beers and generally good atmosphere... Certainly recommend as a place for informal meet or drink - well handy for station. Well worth a visit.
