We ordered the food online and we liked the food. Plus point was that Indian food was available for lunch. Taste and quantity were both good.

After 30 min delays of delivery , I have received enough food to feed a cat for only £27 ,I didn't expect to to be this way
I haven’t used this place for a while, got disappointed with it over the years. Thought I would try it again tonight, only to be disappointed. The price for a take away for 3 people was roughly £80, if the food had been good I...wouldn’t have complained, however, all the dishes came in a plastic pot, almost half the size of there foil ones of old! One of the curry dishes had 4 small pieces of chicken… disgraceful. I will not be returning, the taste was still good but value for money very poor.More
Fantastic food, we had the new wings flavour (Tamarind wings). Excellent service. We also tried a variety of the menu for a wedding meal; Vegetable Manchurian, Chilli Paneer, Potato 65, Tamarind chicken wings, Chicken Chattinadhu, Rajishtani Laal Maas, Tadka Daal. All the dishes tried at...the restaurant were as good as when served at the wedding venue; Ravi, Ajit and the team were spot-on with the service. I would recommend Papa J; you will be satisfied.More
We have visited this restaurant around 10 times since opening and have seen a few ups and downs. You can always be guaranteed very tasty food with some unique flavours and the best nans around. However on this visit we were surprised how small some...of the main course portions have got. We will be back as it’s only a short walk away but hoping for better in the future.More
Not a good experience at all! The "tapas" were massive and good enough in size as a main meal. Ditto the rice portions. I feel that the waitress should have pointed out that the amount we ordered was excessive, but I guess the management of...this place put profit above customer experience. The dips with the poppadoms were very "runny" and hence NOT dips. EVERY starter and EVERY main course was over seasoned with chillis / hot sauces, to the point where 2 out of 5 of us left starters and a different 2 out of 5 of us sent main courses back. Don't get me wrong, we ALL love a good spicy curry, but this food was obviously cooked by a chef Intent on making the food inedible to customers. Worst curry experience EVER and will never go back there 😒More
I have been here twice now and have been meaning to write a review. This place is a gem, if you are looking for good authentic Indian food full of flavours, I would recommend this. It isn't fancy as other places but when it comes...to the food its one of the best in MK. I would recommend!More
We booked a table yesterday for as soon as the restaurant opened and we were the first in and first to order. Over 90 minutes later, still no food. The supervisor used the excuse of a catering order to excuse the delay, as if it...was some sort of natural unavoidable disaster. Not a word of apologies or explanation until we started asking for our food an hour in. The restaurant was filling up with diners and delivery drivers and I thought 'why on earth are you letting more people in when literally no one has any food?' Terrible service, we left without paying for the drinks that they managed to bring us and I urged other customers to do the same. Have been before years ago and we go regularly to the Luton branch so this was incredibly disappointing. Will tell everyone not to go to this branch as it was a very upsetting experience.More
This was by far the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. The food came out so slow. The waiters were all young and inexperienced and clearly had no idea how to deal with big orders. They were trying to serve multiple tables at...once and kept on giving the wrong food. One waiter even spilled a glass over beer on some poor chap's coat. Half the our table got their food whilst the rest were waiting for theirs. I ate when everyone else on my table was finished which was very depressing. The quality of food was inconsistent, some of the dishes were nice but then they go and give us chicken that wasn't fully cooked. Everything felt disjointed, i got everything at different times. My chicken came first which was getting cold by and the time my biryani came. Then they gave my naan 15 minutes before my main, by the time the curry came the naan was cold and I had to wait longer for a fresh one. We were treated poorly and the service was terrible. The food came out to deliveroo orders faster than the people dining in. The manager was very defensive when it came to paying the bill, he firstly denied that we waited well over an for our food, then blamed the slow service on the fact they had a lot of online orders, which is just not good enough. He tried to brush it aside by saying that he didn't charge us for the chicken dish that was still raw (which is a given 🙄) and his maths was all over the place. It was just a disappointment from start to end. Never dining there ever again.More
I’ve eaten at Papa J’s in Luton many times without any issues so had hoped for a similar excellent experience here. We were out for a meal with family friends and had 2 7 year olds with us. We were the first people in the...restaurant at 5.30 when it opened. Placed our order no problem. Time went on. No sign of food. We wanted more drinks. Had to try a few times to get any one’s attention. We ordered more drinks and asked how long the food was going to be. “It might be another 15 mins” despite having ordered 40 minutes ago. There has been a large catering order apparently. We think this is something that should have been flagged as soon as we arrived but the staff seemed not to really care. We said please can you bring the Children’s food. They bought one small plate of popcorn chicken. We asked for some poppadums on the house, this felt like the least they could do. Eventually, 90 mins after we arrived we decided to just leave. They were still insistent that the food was going to be brought out any minute. The waiter disappeared never to return. A few people followed us out, having arrived after us and seeing how long we had waited and poorly we had been treated also decided to cut their losses. It seems as though if they have a catering order then the customers at the restaurant suffer. It was a thoroughly disappointing and frustrating experience and I hope lessons will be learned. Sadly, reading some of the other reviews this doesn’t sound it was a one off. We won’t return here.More
Let me start by saying I’m not in the habit of leaving reviews but felt compound to do so on this occasion. My order was nothing special a simple a Chicken Korma, Pulao Rice and 4 x plain Papadums all at a whopping £19.50. Looking...forward to tucking-in I was gobsmacked what presented itself? The korma was supposed to be cooked in a rich creamy coconut sauce, it wasn’t. The sauce was green, thick and lumpy it looked like a blended Asparagus type sauce not a proper korma sauce. The pulao rice was burnt and incredibly spicy/hot not what you expect a pulao rice should look and taste like. As for the papadums they give me Jerra Roasted papadums (cumin seeds) trying to pass them off as plain ones. To summarise the meal was absolutely awful, without doubt the worst korma I’ve ever had – it went straight in the bin total waste of money.More
So the food here is amazing! Very tasty with a vast selection. Service is brilliant and staff are very attentive and can provide lots of information on the different foods. Favourite of mine is the crispy lamb! One negative is the children a meals, it...isn’t a meal just one dish which I think is expensive. We ordered our little one the popcorn chicken and chips which cost a total of £12. It should be a small portion of the popcorn chicken and fried chips in my opinion for the £8.More
I had a terrible food experience at Papa J's yesterday. Firstly, I placed a telephone order and they told me it would be ready in 20 minutes. So I arrived to collect our meal at the 15 minute mark so it wouldn't be left standing....However, I was the one who was left standing for 25 more minutes. If my meal will take 40 minutes to prepare, TELL ME IT WILL BE 40 MINUTES !!!! That would be fine, but do not make me wait so long when you have set my expectation. Next was the portion size of my Chicken Tikka Masala. The serving carton was full, as you would expect, but it was all sauce and only a very small amount of chicken (see the photo below. And what chicken there was in there was very dry and crumbly - awful to eat. And finally, the flavour of the sauce was terrible. I've had this dish many times from many other places and I think this was probably the worst I've ever had. Now I know taste is all subjective to the individual so I would not have put this as a review comment normally, but I have included it here as a conglomeration of poor service, poor portion size and poor food in general. As you may be able to tell, I will not be returning to Papa J's in Oxley Park.More
What a little hidden gem this place is.. Popped in for a late lunch first time here. Food is outstanding, excellent quality and flavours. Service is second to none with a warm welcome and frindly staff. We will definitely be coming back. Excellent value for...money.More
Awful experience. Very very slow service and poorly organised. Food was too spicy plus it was old. Ordered king prawn Chettinadu - the prawns are old, rubbery and stiff. Never had prawns like that in my life. After a single bite, we had to leave...the whole dish and still paid £17 for it!! The restaurant wanted to sweeten us by offering free gulab jamun for the inconvenience! Chicken Biryani - tasteless and again old. It felt like both the dishes were cooked and frozen long time ago and they de-froze it on the day to serve us. So none of the dishes tasted fresh. Never ever will be visiting here again.More
