Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Thank you Sandra and family for hosting our Dad’s funeral on Friday 24th May. We loved the food and felt really well looked after. Even going the extra mile to cater for our extremely fussy 12 year old. It was the perfect venue for our...family to celebrate together and we are grateful for your kindness and compassion. Thank you, Hayley and PaulMore

Popped down for Friday pub lunch. Food was ace, well priced and presented. They had a nice pint of neck oil and we were well served.

Mother’s Day lunch. Meal was spoilt as the horse radish sauce was poured on the plate along side the meat so everything tasted of it (and I can’t stand horse radish) surely the condiment should come in a separate bowl. Ruined my enjoyment of the...meal. My son in law had lamb and again was already presented with it poured on the plate! Kids meal of sausage and chips was poor. 3 skinny poor quality grey sausages which had been put in a fryer and half dozen chips and about 20 peas! £21.50 for the beef and £21 for the lamb. Definitely not worth the money! Wouldn’t rush backMore

The menu is heavily South African and they take it to another level! Nothing is done plain and simple and I love that! The service is fantastic - they are super responsive and friendly. They can train other establishments in the area I feel. The...food is just divine! Oh the pleasure of a well-cooked, homemade meal. The portion sizes are huge and we had enough to take home with us. I just wished we lived closer as I'd love to call this pub 'my local'. Love all the little nooks! It is super cosy and a great place for writing and chilling with friends.More

Excellent Christmas dinner, the gravy is the best in Watford. The smoked salmon starter was light and tasted divine. Service was excellent and given with a smile

What a great family run pub! Eclectic clientele of all ages. Friendly welcome, with super attentive staff. Great food with a huge nod to their South African roots, but great traditional fare too. Smallish menu but that’s because everything is cooked fresh, be patient it’s...worth the wait. If not go to the local Spoons or Harvester, you’d fit right in!!! There is a good selection of traditional ales, Peroni and Bira Moretti on tap for the more discerning lager drinkers, the Guinness is excellent too. If you ask nicely they’ll make you an Old Fashioned as well! These guys work really hard with regular quiz, DJ and live music events with a really chilled and friendly vibe. Great that my GF lives just around the corner … legendary for a local.More

Great service, very friendly staff and the Sunday roasts are out of this world. With a great choice of beers and wine you cannot go wrong. I've heard the curry is also very good but I'm yet to try. Will update once I've had it.

A quaint local pub in Watford within walking distance of the train station, this place served a pleasant Sunday roast. Great way to spend a couple hours waiting for the Harry Potter shuttle later in the day!

If you’re looking for a top quality Sunday Roast, look no further. I opted of the beef short ribs, with a selection of seasonal vegetables and the best gravy I’ve tasted in a long while. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and you are made to...feel welcome from the moment you walk in the door Would I go again? Absolutely Would I recommend it? You bet, you won’t be disappointedMore
