The Best Indian Restaurant by far!

I booked a meal for myself and my partner last week . We were greeted and shown to our table . The ambience of the place was nice and even though the restaurant was full the service was still excellent . The starters were tasty, the mains we had a king prawn balti and a entire voujon special dish with pilau rice . The king prawns were large and both mains were really tasty and plentiful, full of seafood and meat . You pay a little more to come and dine here but if you want an authentic home cooked Indian meal , then I totally recommend this restaurant 👍

Oh dear the beer!

I'm going to start this with the staff very rude and condescending when I requested a certain rice which wasn't on the menu however they did it for me in the end. Waited a whole hour for food. Ordered two pints of draught cobra WASNT COBRA! Made them change it to bottles after arguing the toss about their beer which 100% wasn't cobra I know my beer. Food came out and to be honest it was lovely I can't deny it but their attitude to customer requests and their dishonest pints of beer mean I will never return to this place again.

This place is deceptive from the outside. Was a little wary about trying the place having driven past a few times. Don’t let the look of the place deceive you. The food was excellent. The starters served and presented in a beautiful contemporary manner. The main meal presentation a little different from my experiences elsewhere. Serving the entire curry on the main plate was a little unusual and then adding the rice on top not what i was expecting. The food however was perfect. A beautiful curry. I strongly recommend this place and will definitely return

Amazing takeaway!

We ordered a takeaway meal which was a chicken pakora starter and popadoms which came with lovely fresh salads. Our mains were chicken Sashlick bhuna and a lamb and chicken Jaipuri Tawa with boiled rice and plain naan. Both meals had plenty of tender meat and fresh veg. The food was piping hot and really delicious. Thanks all.

The food here is absolutely amazing. It takes a little while to arrive, which is absolutely fine because you know it is being cooked fresh - and you can tell from the taste and quality. Service is friendly and attentive and the pricing is reasonable. The fact we keeping going back with our family says it all. Highly recommended.

Outdoor dining post-lockdown

Our first visit to Voujon based on a chance passing earlier in the week and seeing the outside terrace that has been created to accommodate outdoor dining during the current strange times. We booked for 6pm and had 1 1/2 hours of glorious sunshine whilst perusing a really interesting & diverse menu and polishing off 2 superb courses washed down with cold draft Cobra from their licensed bar. Food was excellent. Service was friendly, helpful & knowledgable and the bill wasn’t too bad either. Well worth a visit.

Good night out

Nice looking restaurant, food was ok, portions were small compared to other places with less meat. However it was still quite nice. Staff were really friendly, especially the staff member who was waiting and also doing deliveries. Food was served in good time and gave adequate break between courses. I had desi karhai. It’s not the best I have visited, but I would try again and maybe go for something different.

Voujon Indian Restaurant Chester Road, Stonnall WS9 9HJ First time visit to this Indian Restaurant on a busy and noisy Saturday evening. Nice round table for the four of us though two delays in bringing the drinks and also a cracked water glass which I returned to the bar. For starters we had tasty fish pakora, chicken pakora and two crab crabs. Main dishes were good with two Shaslick Bhuna Chickens, a vegetable bhuna and a Gurka Masala Lamb with naans and pilau rice portions. We had two deserts the cookie dough and a very good & scrumptious chocolate tart with vanilla ice cream which we were advised was home made. With drinks the bill came to £110.15 for the four of us and a very pleasant evening. Regards Gary Saunders

Great restaurant

This is a fantastic restaurant. Great setting, great and helpful staff and food was immense. Staff were extremely helpful in providing what to try, I typically like a madras but advised to try the Naga. I was apprehensive at first as Madras is the hottest I like but it was gorgeous. Great flavour as advised also

Never Again

We have used this place on and off for years. It has been fantastic in the past. This is the last time we will order any food from the Voujon. We ordered a Lamb Tikka Balti a Chicken Tikka Balti and 2 garlic naans. After not having a curry for some time we were so looking forward to it. When I first opened mine I was a bit surprised at the size of the bits of lamb. Some were 2 inch cubes, not a good look. We both sat down, my wife asked what I thought and I said not a lot. She said hers tasted like stew, no curry heat or flavour. Mine was similar and the meat was so tough I had to saw through it. I don't expect to have to use a steak knife for what should be tender lamb. This was either mutton or it was some reheated dross. I threw quite a bit of 'lamb' or whatever it was, away, very unlike me, I eat everything. Either way, the owners of this place should be ashamed.

Great food but miserable staff

Mains were very good, plenty of meat and tasty dishes. Naan bread nice. Sadly the guy who was serving us (Tall, thick-set with beard) was one of the most miserable and unfriendly I've ever come across. Didn't speak a word, didn't smile and looked really pi55ed off. Spoilt things a little tbh. Customer service is not his forte. Oh, and the plates were freezing cold, no excuse for that.

Not the best

We went for valentine’s night. We was put on the only table for two ( the rest were tables of 4 per couple ) squashed in a corner. Every other table had bottled water on it and salt and pepper except ours. Took ages to take our order. Food was bland, was charged for a tap water. Then when we went to pay the bill he he asked for a tip. Rude and embarrassing. Never going here again.

Worst night ever experienced

We went to Voujon with friends with high expectations. The food was very bad and bland. The service was even worse. We like to go out to different places for a meal but this was by far the worst experience we had. I could understand if they were busy but the restaurant was half empty so I would have expected better quality and attention from this place. We won’t be going back there again!.

Hello, we acknowledge your disappointment regarding the expectation to share our banquet meal for 5 people and only pay for 2. As a business, we maintain consistent rules for all our customers. Contrary to the perception of the restaurant being half empty, it was, in fact, half full, which we believe is reasonable for January. We're pleased that your food was served promptly, and you enjoyed a three-course meal within an efficient hour and 15 minutes. It's a bit confusing to hear about your dissatisfaction, especially since your party mentioned enjoying the food on the night. Nevertheless, we are committed to delivering quality service, and we regret that you won't be returning. Management focus needed, don't rely on your laurels

Cons:-Took 3 hours to complete 3 courses. Inadequate staffing levels trying to deal with take away and restaurant orders. Staff where doing there best but overworked. Had to constantly chase service, As mentioned by another review, the draught cobra did not taste like cobra. Portion sizes on the small size. Restaurant packed. Pros:- Food presentation very good. Quality of food very good. My advise, increase staffing levels and efficiency as your trade will go elsewhere!!!

Nice food but let down by the service.

The food was lovely, however the service was very slow. We were quickly seated and popadoms brought over fast, however it took a while for someone to take our order and to bring drinks. At the end we waited ages to get the bill and it took three attempts before we received the right one. It would've been a lovely experience if the service was ok, but the Lodge in Shenstone is just as good food wise and far more welcoming.
