Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Brilliant pub! We came in halfway through a Halloween Quiz Night so it was a bit strange walking into silence and puzzled faces mid question 😆 not to mention some customers dressed up for Halloween 🎃 It soon became apparent we were very welcome and before long we were sharing drinks tips with, it turned out, the landlord. I had some delicious salted caramel rum, rhubarb mead, andTewkesbury Gin and my husband has proper beer 🍺 We were soon joining in the quiz with two blokes at the bar - everyone was incredibly friendly. Our dog was treated to dog biscuits especially by the Silver Nomad who once owned a Welsh Terrier and then the landlady bought Ruby the little Frenchie (dog) down to meet Gwen. The building dates back to 1467 and the tree ring dating is 1331! Such atmosphere - loved it down the little alley down the side too. Don't miss the alley! We just had to go back the next evening and would love to return again. There's a Christmas Quiz next - if you get chance go. Thanks for making our Tewkesbury Trip so memorable.

We went looking for lunch but they don't do food. No problem! The landlady invited us to buy sandwiches from elsewhere come back to the pub to have them. So we did, with a nice pint and a chat at the bar. Lovely olde world feel and relaxed atmosphere.

Lovely little old fashioned charming pub in centre of Tewkesbury town centre. Very friendly chatty owners who provided us with lots of information and old pictures about the wars of the roses and battle of Tewkesbury. Very friendly welcome also from the resident French bulldog Ruby. Sadly this is our last day in the town of Tewkesbury. But rest assured we will be back to the place and to this pub in particular.

Popped in for coffee this afternoon to support a local pub rather than a chain or Wetherspoons across the road. Asked for two Americanos but was served cheap instant coffee (granules were clearly floating) and charged £3.50 per cup which I tapped to pay in stunned shock. Have no idea how good the food or ales are and they may be very good but unfortunately I will not be returning to be ripped off again.

Attended on a Saturday evening and within a short period of time discovered that any one from outside Tewkesbury was not really welcome. Bar staff, where particularly un-welcoming, which for bar staff been friendly should be number one focus. This could be described as a typical village local pub going back many years, where locals are welcome, and tourists if they do enter, are made aware they shouldn't be there.

No atmosphere miserable staff and crap beer. Visited a couple weeks back on a Saturday and although I don’t like Wadworth beers I had a pint of Theakestons Old Peculiar which was quite acceptable. Nice homely pub and lady behind bar was friendly. Returned again midweek and I was the only one in there the guy behind the bar made no attempt to speak and the Theakstons was off so needless to say we won’t be returning.

We were visiting Tewkesbury and stumbled on the Berkeley by chance .we were made to feel very welcome with our Cockapoo ,unfortunately no food right now thanks to COVID But it didn’t stop the ale from being Great! We had @ good old chinwag with the landlords brother and father . Good choice for a friendly drink

This is a lovely pub, landlady and staff were friendly. Great choice of beer, good cellar practise, good price too. Food amazing. Very dog friendly, treats and fresh water for them. Will be back.

Absolutely fabulous little pub. Proper quirky little place, wonky floors and ceilings. Absolutely love it. Beautiful little alley, so pretty. The bar maid Ziggy was brilliant and so, so friendly. Thank you for you lovely service xx

Popped in to this little gem after a lovely walk in Tewksbury. Historically it looked interesting and it did not disappoint. The hosts were exceptional and the beer matched. We left having had an experience of what a pub should be like. Unfortunately they are not doing food at the moment but plans are afoot.

I visited on my own once then took my wife a few weeks later. A tudor building with nice beer and atmosphere. The landlord is a fellow brummie and that's a bonus. They have blossom in the window so don't think it's a Chinese restaurant lol

Lovely cosy English pub. Had the Tewkesbury Gold beer and loved but and the friendliness so much we came back for seconds and thirds. Loved being included in the banter...I am a Tewksbury girl born and bred. Emigrated to New Zealand and bought my kiwi hubby to see the sights....he just lived this pub and will miss it

Don't waste your time, first thing that hits you is strange smell as you walk in some kind of air freshner that's so over powering it makes you feel sick and then to make u feel even worse is the rip off price, £11.00 for two pints of average beer, probably tourist price, stay clear and go elsewhere.

Lovely old building, reputedly oldest pub in Tewkesbury, had a pint of HPA and then a pint of 6x, both decent ales
