Good food, cooked really well, with some thoughtful vegetarian options. Its an old fashioned proper pub, which is relaxed, homely and unpretentious. The staff are friendly and attentive and the beers are excellent. We'll be coming back.

My wife and I visited The Running Pump on Sunday afternoon and there where a few families already eating and several customers at the bar. It was a good atmosphere and we were once again made welcome by the barman (our last visit was August'16). I had the mushroom and fennel pie with chunky chips, mange tout and green beans.... More

Its great to find a traditional pub that serves such excellent food. We have eaten here several times, and only wish we had tried them sooner! Fish is always good, and so was the Chicken last night! The menu is varied but not extensive, and the dishes are all freshly cooked. The quality of the food is second to none,... More

My wife and I visited the Running Pump last night with friends, and what an excellent evening it was. My friend and I had chicken breast stuffed with soft cheese and peppers, whilst our wives had herb crusted hake. All the food was well accompanied, and superbly presented. The menu had a terrific selection, and it took us some time... More

Visited on a Saturday. Around 1630. The pub was well patronised. Service: Very nice and friendly. No long waiting times. Frequently checked our table. Menu: had a normal menu and one page with specials of the day. You can check the menu online. Food: probably the best food we had so far in Great Britain. The lamb was outstanding and... More

Although we live locally we didn't know this pub existed until today. We went as a family and I was initially impressed with their range of real ales and unusual beers. We had great service and a really tasty, well cooked meal with very generous portions. Everything was handmade/home cooked including the tartare sauce, chutneys and muffins. The food and... More

Visited for lunch whilst passing today. Lovely old pub/restaurant with a gentleman server/ barman who was attentive without being overbearing. We had the ribeye and the duo of lamb. My lamb was beautiful with the vegetables being perfect for me, soft and flavoursome without being over cooked. My partner remarked on how it was nice to have green beans, the... More

We visited last Friday night and the service was brilliant. Very polite and friendly staff. The actual place itself is lovely and had a warm and cosy feel to it. The food was of very good quality and presented in a modern way. The prices reflect the quality and quantity of food we received. All staff were conscious to check... More

Had an evening meal here. All three enjoyed our meals. Good quality, tasty food and the servings were just about right! Very pleasant service with the bar staff actually showing an interest in you having had a good experience. This should be the norm but some places seem to forget this. All in all very enjoyable. I would have given... More
