We have been here a few times, standard of food is always really good and a good varied menu included a separate gluten free menu. Our bill was just under 40 pounds for 2 people, 3 alcoholic drinks, 2 mains and 2 desserts. Service was good, staff polite, food was fresh, area was clean, well done to all, we will return.

This is not a pretentious place but it provides tasty, hearty food for a very reasonable price. We had Sunday lunch which was well-cooked and plentiful. The beef was tender and the enormous roast potatoes were excellent. The meal was accompanied by an abundance of root vegetables and a large Yorkshire pudding, all of which were smothered in a flavoursome gravy. Efficient and pleasant service was provided by Claire who even took our baby’s plate to wash. Irrespective of the occasion the Yew Tree can be relied upon to provide a generous meal in a pleasant dining environment.

Always enjoy eating out at The Yew Tree, consistently great food and customer service. Opted for a takeaway tonight during lockdown and it didn’t disappoint. No waiting time at all, the food was piping hot when I arrived home and it also replicated the standard of eating there. Highly recommend!

Was sat on a very small round table. Food was average wouldn’t rush back in a hurry- dry and tasteless. To me a proper pie has pastry all round not just meat in a dish with dry horrible pastry on top. Fake pie

Been here a couple of times now with friends and family and can highly recommend this venue. Food quantities are generous and always hot and served on warm plates which I really appreciate. Staff very welcoming and attentive. Cleaning ongoing which is comforting. Had light bite gammon, egg, chips and peas and the gammon was perfect and a nice chunk. One bonus for me was the white pepper with the condiments, always like this on my egg but places rarely serve this it usually is black pepper. One request, pleeese bring back the battered black pudding, it was delicious and a favourite for me, was a starter but was enough for me as a light bite 🤗. One good thing I noticed although there are steps to enter the venue, there is a ramp for easier access. We did wear masks while getting to and from our table but not everyone did

Took the 20 minute walk downhill from my hotel and not disappointed. Kitchen had just closed but I knew that when I set off. Warm and friendly welcome and a sample of the cask ale offered without prompting but I was up for Moretti. Nice drink served well. Looks a really nice pub. 2 minutes walk to the bus stop for a £1.50 (contactless, service 125) to save the long uphill trek back to near the hotel!

Went here on Bank holiday Monday with our Granddaughter, her partner and their two children. Food was lovely, staff were very friendly and polite. There was only one problem and that was with my husbands meal. He had ordered the steak and ale pie and he said it was very salty. He asked for extra gravy and was charged £1.00 for about 50 or 60 mls,

Thanks for the great review! Sorry to hear about the issue with the Steak Pie and its disappointing as we shouldn't be charging for extra gravy with Steak Pies as standard rule so my apologies for that. We will speak to the team but hopefully won't put you off visiting again soon!

First visit for food since 1st lockdown. Table for 4 a treat by friends. Looks like it has all been decorated, and has a great warm friendly atmosphere. Shown promptly to a table. Drinks served promptly. Great service. 3 of us ordered the Gammon which was cooked to perfection. It came with fried Egg,topped with cracked black pepper and a reasonable slice of fresh pineapple which had been chared grilled. Chips and garden peas. The 4th person had a light bite fish and chips. Which she said was the best fish she has eaten in a long time. Finished off with 4 ice cream, choc sauce, wafer and a flake. It was great to see that this pub has survived covid and is providing great quality food, reasonable prices and plenty of people being midweek. Will definitely be going again soon. Highly recommend it

Great service all round, the food was good the gluten free menu was extensive and my wife, who has coeliacs disease, was made to feel nondifferbt than anyone else. All food was cooked in separate ovens so no cross contamination (my wife is extremely gluten sensitive and she had no reaction at all). The waiters were very considerate in making sure her needs dietary needs were met without feeling like an inconvenience. Would heartily recommend the Yew Tree, even if you don't have a coeliac in your party, we will certainly be visiting again soon .

Don't normally post review but had to spread the word about new ,old place discovered as 10/10.apologies for length. Last minute decision for tea out after long day at work. Place had been recommended, didn't book just thought try our luck. For a Thursday evening was very busy with what seemed lots of event tables, gift bags and balloons. Happily there was a table free, guy who greeted us was happy for us to be at round table that seated 5, other free tables were reserved, said we wouldn't be long literally just wanted to eat and go. Can't fault the service. Young guy who seated us took the drinks order, lady took food order and young girl brought the food. All very friendly and efficient. Think we were there a total of 45 minutes from drinks order to paying the bill, but never felt rushed, just didn't have the extended waiting time you get in some places, perfect for us, as quick as a takeaway but in lovely restaurant surroundings. extensive menu with something on the menu for everyone best choices I've seen in a while and prices very reasonable. Even more so when the food arrived as portions were generous and food fresh, not much evidence of frozen items apart from maybe the stick French fries that came with burger but they were again fresh and fine. We ordered Fino Chicken Burger, absolutely nothing to fault apart from so much i couldn't finish it and Steak and Ale pie, (that had been recommended) abundance of meat in delicious gravy top with a light filo pastry served with fresh chips (not fries) and fresh veg just like you'd get on your nans own home cooked Sunday dinner. Two meals and two pints of Cruz Campo bill came to just over £36 worth every penny!!!!!

Visiting our daughter in Preston recently we wanted an evening meal out of town. After a bit of research we came across the Yew Tree. The place had a nice atmosphere, very friendly staff and a great menu. We all had drinks, and when asked what gins and cider do you serve, the waiter listed them all from memory, which was impressive as they serve over 20 gins and an equal number of ciders. The food was tasty, well presented and served pretty quickly for a Saturday. We had a very nice night and will be back next time we are up in Preston.

Granted it was a busy bank holiday. Service was fine, but the food was shocking. Served raw chicken burger and charcoal black burger with not much care or attention being given to presentation

After leaving it a bit late to book a family group of 18 for Christmas Dinner, Fortunately The Yew Tree were able to fit us in. We duly walked in on Christmas day and we were met by Happy smiling staff who waited on us from the moment we arrived. Christmas Dinner was to die for, 3 courses all of which were served perfectly and which left your taste buds salivating for more. Not that you could fit anymore in! I have nothing but admiration for all the staff and especially the chef, you all made our Chtistmas dinner extraordinary and exceeded all our expectations. The food and the service were exceptional! Thank you 😍🥳❤️🎉🥂🍾🍹🍺 See you next year 🎅🧑‍🎄🤶

Went out for some dinner before heading to the cinema and was served by a lovely young lady called Emma, she couldn’t do enough for us and made our time very enjoyable. We ordered scampi and chips and steak burger and both were brought out by Mike who I believe to be the owner also very helpful friendly with a big smile on his face. The food was hot delicious and very reasonably priced. We shall defo be back!
