Lovely lunchtime at The Newton Arms. We arrived for 12 when it opened by the time we left about half 1 it was pretty busy so obviously very popular. Now I've eaten there I can see what. I had lite bite lasagne which included 1 slice of garlic bread and garnish, ordered homemade chips as a side order along with half pint of cola. The price for my lunch was under £10 which is excellent value. The lasagne was classed as a smaller portion but glad I didnt get the full size otherwise it would have been wasted, plenty to eat with the smaller option. Homemade chips were gorgeous. Fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The staff were friendly and helpful without being over powering. Although the pub became busy it's a very relaxed atmosphere, no waiting staff rushing about stressed. Meals are served in a reasonable timeframe, arrive piping hot the waiting staff are very efficient. I will be back for a future visit and will be recommending to friends and family.

Our family really enjoyed a lunchtime meal here. The staff were friendly, the restaurant was nicely decorated and clean. A main meal was around £10 and the lunchtime lightbites around £6. We had to do track and trace and staff were adhering to covid guidelines. Soft drinks seemed a little on the expensive side (£3.40 for a pint of blackcurrant and lemonade)

Lovely pub and the food is always fantastic. I’m coeliac so can’t eat gluten and they’re gluten free menu is great. Lots of options. Had the gf fish and chips last time I visited and it was delicious. All of the other members of my party also had fan meals. My only suggestions/feedback would be that once drinks orders have been taken staff are a little slow to come and take food orders (this may be due to Covid staffing issues though) and the children’s pasta bolognese should really be pasta such as penne or fusilli as it was difficult for our 4 year old to eat spaghetti without help. Other than that it’s great and the staff are super friendly. Will definitely be back

The restaurant was clean and well set out, ordered at the bar, took your ticket to the lady who cuts the meat (who really didn't look or sound like she wanted to be there), and put as much or as little on your plate as you want. The beef was lovely, as was the pork which a family member had, the veg was a bit well done and bland. The gravy was like water and didn't taste of anything. I couldn't put enough salt and pepper on my food to make it taste like something nice. Not fussed about going back for Carvery but will go back for drinks as its a nice clean pub with a decent sitting area for drinks

Came him with my husband. Initially there was a confusion as I thought I had booked but it wasn't a problem and the staff were really accommodating. I couldn't get over the number of gluten free options on the menu and kept checking about things which the staff were brilliant about. I always worry that I am being a pain but they didn't mind at all. The food was delicious I had chicken goujons and the beef sizzler with chips. Throughout the meal staff kept checking everything was okay. The whole place had such a welcoming environment. From experience, it isn't easy to find good gluten free pub food so we will definitely be back. Thank you to all the staff.

We arrived and asked to see the menu before being seated as I was doubtful about vegan options. Having looked at the menu my doubts were reassured - seemingly no vegan options. We asked a member of staff who spoke to the kitchen and came back with 3 ad hock vegan options all of which sounded great. I had a sweet chilli chickpea and bean sizzler which was lovely. Our waitress checked with the kitchen staff for dessert and again came back with a vegan friendly choice. They never made us feel like we were putting them out despite having them create some on the spot dishes. I really appreciated their efforts and warm welcome!

Excellent food and such a warm welcome. We are vegetarian, so the chef made us a delicious cheese and broccoli bake. It was so cheesy! Delicious. The meat eaters in our group said the beef was delicious too! Highly recommended.

6 adults and an 18 month old visited for lunch this week. The service was decent and staff were friendly. The food was what we would describe as average to good pub grub. Our order was slightly wrong as we ordered a full Hunter's chicken and were presented with the 'lite bite' version. However, this was ok as we'd ordered enough food between us to share. The steak and ale pie, fish n chips, gammon and lasagne were very good but the scampi was too greasy to enjoy. I ordered the prawn linguini and although this was plentiful with a good portion of prawns, the sauce was not what I'd expected and was a little strange given it was a honey and mustard sauce (the menu hadn't identified the type of sauce so I perhaps should have checked beforehand). There was a pork dish on the menu with a honey and mustard sauce which I'd have expected but maybe not with prawns? Maybe the chef had made too much sauce for the pork dishes and hence using this up as not wanting it to go to waste? All in all a decent lunch

Booked a table after work Friday 6th Jan. Good food. Initially served by an older lady who was very good. However, we were then served by young girls who were simply not bothered: left menu but never returned to take orders, took ages to clear plates, spilled peas from dinner plates but never bothered to clear them then upon leaving were all chatting on their phones and didn’t bother to say thank you.

We visited with friends and were made extremely welcome. The staff were friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. The restaurant area at the back of the pub is stylishly decorated with comfortable seating. The food was really well- presented; three of us ordered the Tennessee Beef which was absolutely delicious. My partner chose the pork in honey and mustard sauce which he greatly enjoyed (the chips looked homemade and very tasty) Three of us were tempted by the desserts; my vanilla cheesecake was particularly good. Would definitely recommend, it’s a shame it’s not particularly local to us but maybe we need to ensure we’re in the area again.

Shockingly surprised. As someone who has had a Sunday lunch at rosette award winning establishments this was lovely. We came with our two little ones and thoroughly enjoyed it . The lady carving today was lovely and you could tell she worked very hard as she was waiting on tables too!

Went for Sunday Carvery. Staff didn’t really make us feel welcome. The meat was nice, veg was bland, looked like tinned peas, the mash was lumpy and tasteless. In and out in less than 30 mins. Won’t be back.

Arrived at 12:15, (table booked for 12:30), food was not served till 13:45. This we consider is much too long, on finishing ordered a pudding (apple pie and custard), that came in a few minutes. Don't think we will be going back.
