About
We are unashamedly a family business. Albert is the uncle of the founder, Jim Ramsbottom, and led the conversion of Dukes 92 in the early 90’s from the original canal side stable block to the Manchester food and drink institution it is today. Albert used to store his tools in the shed where they stayed until the plans for Albert’s Shed were formed. He agreed to move out of the shed to make way for the restaurant on the condition that we named the restaurant after his beloved shed! We have no such excuse for this restaurant, but we couldn't’ think of a better name. So Albert lives on…and why not?

Lunchtime today with my husband and a very good friend, Ali, our waitress showed us to our table with menus and immediately brought us a bottle of tap water for whilst we were looking at menus. She looked after us so well throughout. My companions both chose starter and main from the lunch menu. (Soup, fish and chips and mushroom risotto, fish of the day - mackerel) I chose soup and smaller portion of the haddock risotto from the a la carte menu. Delicious food in a very pleasant setting with staff watching for eye contact in case we wanted anything.
Love the white tablecloths! Free parking and the best of ambience.

Went with a friend for lunch. We were warmly greeted and given menus with a fantastic choice of starters, mains and desserts at competitive prices. They also offer a lunch time menu with two courses for only £12:99. The food was really tasty and nicely presented.
We will definitely visit again. I highly recommend a visit.

I have eaten at Alberts Shed a few times and never been disappointed tonight booked for a family birthday and we were well looked after, food is good and reasonably priced, staff are friendly and attentive and give you time to enjoy your evening without rushing you through. It is easy to get to with close by train station and plenty of parking if you are driving. Dukes next door is also a good venue for a pre meal drink.

I normally love this place and usually give 5 stars but unfortunately not on this occasion.
Booked sat 8th for 8 people at 8pm for my daughter’s 21st
They run out of oysters! Other 2 starters fine but the mains was different story.
Beef short ribs ok steaks ribeye very thin and fatty so not cooked medium rare the fish was nice but the mushy peas a grey colour looked like they had been sat around! The root veg totally raw I’m all for al dente but that was ridiculous
The chicken ok but not very hot.
The waiter rude too busy talking to a colleague
I was annoyed when I realised they had charged a service charge didn’t say on the night as didn’t want to spoil it, I have since emailed but they can’t even be bothered to reply!

Attended here with my wife for a birthday lunch prior to a little city centre shopping.
Upon arrival managed to park for free directly outside which is an added bonus in the city centre.
Quickly seated near the window with a pleasant view.
drink and food order quickly taken by a very pleasant young lady called Ciara.
We ordered off the lunch menu which is 2 courses for £12.50, food absolutely first class as are the staff who are friendly, courteous and kept checking everything was ok without being intrusive.
Added bonus of a plate of chocolate brownies with cream and raspberries and a glass of prosecco for the birthday girl courtesy of alberts shed which was greatly recieved.
Overall a fantastic place to eat, great food and staff to match too.
Thanks for a fab day.
Will definately return.

We went on a christmas party here, due to our numbers (30+) we had to order in advance, for my dessert i went for the chocolate volcano cake. One of the waiters who's name i didn't take as i didn't think much of it at the time advised me that the desserts contained alcohol and that the only thing on the christmas menu that was suitable was the cheese board. He even made a joke about it saying that the chef likes his tipple. At the time i thought this was nice of him to mention as i thought he had gone above and beyond. As i didn't like the idea of a cheese board I was allowed to substitute for the eccles cake off the normal menu. Won't be having that again, i dislike eccles cake but probably slightly less than a cheese board.
My sister was due to go to alberts (in didsbury) so i warned her about this and advised her to email ahead to see if they could make the volcano cake without alcohol, she got a response and turns out the volcano cake did not contain alcohol.
Very upset that this happened and the other food was underwhelming too in all honesty. I was completely baffled as to why he would tell me that, if he was in doubt surely he would check with someone else such as senior management or the chef himself.

We decided at the last minute to book a table for 9:45 on a Thursday evening, so at the tail end of a long shift for all.
We arrived slightly early and were welcomed warmly and seated, the restaurant is classic, understated and beautiful.
I ordered the crab and avocado starter and my partner the prawns, food was delivered promptly and beautifully presented. The prawns were senational, cooked perfectly and served in a delicious sauce. The crab while tasty lacked actual crab (this is the only negative in an otherwise perfect meal)
we both ordered the rib eye steak medium rare with dauphinnoise. Here is where Alberts and the team surprised us, we eat out A LOT!! This was by far the best steak either of us has ever eaten, perfectly cooked, flavoursome and delicious. (its so hard to get a good steak anywhere).
we had a lovely evening made exceptional by the team at Alberts.
I must note also our waitress Ali who was fantastic, warm, polite and knowledgeable and is a real asset to the team.
we rarely visit the same place twice as there are so many places to try but we have already booked to go back next week as the scallops were not available and my partner is keen to try them.
Finally i should add my partner is a grill chef of some 20 years and has never been completly satisfied with a meal but this is the first time ever! He said "that was the best steak i've had in my life" and believe me a comment like that from him is a very rare thing.
so to cover, do visit you will have wonderful food the kind of food that is joyful!!!, in a beautiful atmosphere with with fantastic service.

We visited on a Saturday night at peak time (8pm); despite the restaurant being very busy we were quickly seated and given menus and wine lists. There is a really good range of fish and meat dishes, both starters and mains. Service was quite quick but not intrusive; wine is well priced and good quality and the overall ambience of the restaurant is very good - it's buzzy without being too loud. We've been a few times now both for lunch and dinner and never been disappointed. Would recommend.

Went to this restaurant today for lunch to celebrate my husbands birthday with my daughter and her partner. Meals ordered starters arrived except mine. It arrived just as everybody had finished there starters. My main course arrived first which I was happy about but then on taste saying it was tepid is a compliment it was awful. The waitress came around after the meals had been finished (my plate was still full of food) and asked if everything was ok! I didn't say anything as didn't want to spoil my husbands birthday. Glass of wine I did send back as finger sticking to the glass as not clean. I did expect some kind of apology but no. I would advise anyone to stay away. So disappointing.

Please accept our apologies for the issues which you received during your visit Pamela, these are not the standards which we set here at Albert's. I'd really like to learn if a manager came over to your table during your meal to check if everything was ok?
Could you please email myself Karen.hackett@ellerleisure.com including what name your booking was under with what date and time your booking was for, so that we can investigate further and address these issues

Had a cracking meal here after our visit to Science and Industry Museum which is just a 5 min walk away.
Food was Brilliant. All 4 of us had different main courses chosen from standard or special lunch menu(£12.50 for 2 courses). I had the Thai seafood curry which was exquisite. Decent wine at reasonable prices and a very helpful and knowledgeable waitress.Thank You Ali. We will definitely eat here again and recommend to others.

I recently attended a wedding at the venue and was left very disappointed by the service provided. Initially, things seemed well organised; guests were directed to a small private area for a drinks reception and guided to the room for ceremony. After the photos, we again had access to the private balcony for further drinks.
Things started to go wrong when we were invited back the main room for the speeches and wedding breakfast. Having served our starters at approximately 17:30 we didn't receive our deserts till well after 20:00. It was quite obvious the event was understaffed. Furthermore, the standard of the food was very hit and miss; a measly portion of soup was followed by one of the worst burgers I've endured in my life. It must have been sitting in a hotplate all afternoon as by time it was served, it was completely dry. It was difficult to discern if it was even meat! The hot desert came luke warm and given the delays in service, the evening guests had to wait to join the reception.
Whilst the staff who were working did their best, they were not only shorthanded but in some cases lacking the expierence to run bar. I received a gin and tonic in a wine glass and had to ask for lemon.
It's really disappointing for the couple getting married that Albert Shed had let them down so badly with staffing the event. Weddings cost thousands of pounds and the venue new how many guests would be in attendance. I would not recommend any future couples using here for their wedding.

We came here for lunch having been quite a few times before. We both had the pan fried king prawns for starters and my wife had the sea bass for a main. I had the steak Diane special. All three dishes were exceptional in taste and quality. Hayley also looked after us very well indeed. Would definitely recommend Albert’s Shed.

We called in to Albert's Shed for a post theatre meal on 11.11.2022 and, despite being half an hour earlier than our booking this was no problem and we were quickly shown to our table
We've eaten in the sister restaurant, Albert's, in Didsbury so sort of knew what to expect from here but this certainly is a very pleasant restaurant with a lovely setting and ambience
After a short delay to peruse the menu our drinks and food order was taken. We went for the Tomato Bruschetta and the Creamy Mushrooms on Sourdough Toast (the latter was excellent and very tasty). The mains were a little delayed but despite this they arrived piping hot and included the Chicken stuffed with Mushrooms (a very good deal for this one, the price including a choice of two sides, pity one of the sides was wrong through no fault of the order) and the Confit Duck Leg on a Cassoulet with French Beans
We finished by sharing the Black Forest Eton Mess which, unfortunately, was disappointing and seemed to just consist of cream on a meringue nest (yes I know that's what an Eton Mess is !!) but this one lacked any real flavour of Cherry and/or Chocolate
Sadly the Duck dish was the problem as it was just way too salty and as there was quite a sizeable portion of the Cassoulet I just became more and more bloated with every mouth full and I could feel my blood pressure rising so couldn't finish the dish and I hate leaving food that's one of my pet hates when there are starving millions around the world. That evening I had to drink several glasses of ice cold water to satiate my thirst
I have to say one of the highlights of our visit was the fantastic service we received from our waiter, Rhys, who should be complimented for his warm, courteous welcome, the way he managed a large number of tables, communicating with us in a very unobtrusive fashion keeping us informed of where our meals were up to without us having to chase him which is a skill in itself that he noticed we had been a waiting a while for our mains to arrive even though we hadn't
None of this will put us off returning and I would be happy to recommend but I just think chef needs a lighter touch on his seasoning

It was my mother's 72nd birthday dinner and drinks. Partner and I and my mum.
The venue is lovely and clean with white tablecloths and great selection of both indoors as well as outdoors tables
The staff are polite courteous and friendly with just enough attention to the tables and service.
The food is well presented and very reasonable portions with a nice selection of wine.
The items of note for improvement maybe:
A. the tables are close together so pleased it was not full
B. Wall repairs still awaiting painting
C. Menu was torn
Great staff and food with a good but small selection of wine in a great environment.

Pre-Covid I have eaten here many times and I was looking forward to doing so again. Firstly after taking our seats we were completely ignored, after 20 minutes we managed to get the attention of a staff member and were finally able to order some drinks and our food.
it still took a huge amount of time for the drinks to finally arrive and we did consider walking out. When the drinks did finally arrive our bottle of red wine was in a wine cooler complete with ice!
Starters were good (chilli and garlic prawns)
Main course arrived and things were wrong. My friend was served mash when he had ordered chips (this was sent back and changed) and my Fish and Chips arrived with garden peas instead of mushy peas. I was told that the peas had been substituted because they had ran out of mushy peas, also they had ran out of bread and butter would you believe. Our server commented that they spent most of their time apologising for the kitchen getting things wrong.
My fish & chips was underwhelming and the chips were luke warm.
5 minutes later the table next to us received their food which included mushy peas.
Despite the Duty Manager knowing our complaints the bill arrived without any deductions. We did pay in full and leave.
