Lovely vegan place with a great ambience, very attentive service and a fantastic selection of dishes. The portions are so generous that it was difficult to get through a starter and a main, so the desserts went home with us.

We came here as it’s close to work and noticed they had a £12 lunch deal on for 2 plates and a hot drink. We shared 4 plates between us and they were amazing: Crispy tofu, miso mushrooms, cauliflower and the raw pasta. Staff were...absolutely lovely and the service was quick for a Friday afternoon. I can’t wait to come back and try the dinner menu!More

This place has come on leaps and bounds since we last visited. We had a large booking and the staff were amazing - they couldn't have been more helpful and were the right amount of attentive, particularly Andrew and Fion, despite a little miscommunication initially....The food was exemplary. All of our guests had 3 courses and everyone loved their meals, despite the fact that many hadn't been to a vegan restaurant before. The range of choice on the menu is impressive, especially considering the quality of the dishes. Portion sizes are generous for the mains and it's great value for money. We'll endeavour to visit whenever we come to Manchester. Huge thanks to the team for making our event special!More

Came out for a small midweek meal and ended up with three courses! Food was all gluten free, vegan and absolutely phenomenal. Dishes we had: tempura vegetables, crispy cauliflower, miso mushrooms, jackfruit tacos, "fish" and chips, hazelnut slice and sticky toffee pudding. Being coeliac, it...was so amazing to not feel left out with the food. It all tasted incredible. We left very full and very satisfied! Absolutely can't wait for our next visit.More

A lovely lunch here. I really appreciated the waitress rushing to get my order in before 3pm to take advantage of the £12 lunch special. I got the tofu skewers and the roasted butternut squash. For either, the sauces that accompany the dishes are DIVINE....The tofu was crispy enough although I think another skewer would be a bit more filling and justify the cost. The squash was roasted perfectly, so it was easy to cut without being mushy. My hot drink was a chai latte with oat milk. Appropriately spiced, nice big mug to sip. Beautiful plateware and plating. Lovely interior decor. Warning, doesn’t do takeaway as was indicated on Google.More

I booked for dinner on Saturday 12 March. A friend had told me so much about The Allotment and I was really looking forward to this, my first visit. It was a complete shambles and I’ll never go back again even if I was paid....On arrival we were told that the restaurant was busy and we’d have to sit downstairs. As we’d booked we thought that was a bit strange. The service was very poor, it took 10 minutes for a drinks order to be taken and at least a further 10 minutes for drinks to arrive. We were both drinking water with our meal and had asked to have wine glasses with the water (it’s much nicer). The waitress was polite and helpful with the menu. Which was the only positive of the evening. When the water came with tumblers we reminded the waitress about the wine glasses and we were told we couldn’t have wine glasses as “there might not be enough glasses for people drinking wine”. I’ve no idea what the logic of that is or what would’ve happened if I had ordered wine or if indeed the whole of the restaurant ordered wine? The menu was far too heavily biased towards Japanese food (which I like but hadn’t actually chosen to dine in a Japanese restaurant that night) and most of the mains were broth based. I should say the menu felt quite different to the one on the website but I accept that menus change and my main issue was the lack of choice if you didn’t want a broth. My wife had three small dishes instead of a main and I had a broth based Japanese curry which I would never have again. Throughout the dinner service the waiting staff gathered round the bar to chat and they were joined at times by the kitchen staff. It looked really unprofessional and explained why we waited so long for drinks and the lack of attention given to us throughout the service. I expect there wasn’t a manager working that night but you’d expect somebody to step into the role or at least some standards to be maintained. When the bill came it included a 10% service charge, I have never asked for a service charge to be taken off a bill but there was no way I was paying that.More

Very friendly welcome. We had a vegan Sunday Roast and it was excellent. They have a nice selection of wines. This is not our first visit and it is one of our go to places in Manchester. Dog friendly too.

Dress code and table lay out is casual. We went Sunday lunchtime and it was a real mix but all relaxed. No table linen.
