It’s a large menu with lots of pizza and pasta choices and plenty of meat and fish mains with seafood a real speciality here. The wine list is all-Italian. I have been to La Roma every new years eve for the past 10 years at least. Normally there are no complaints about the service, food or presentation but this time I felt like the usual standards slipped slightly. It was a very busy evening as you can imagine but we were seated at our table straight away by Stef. Our order was taken for our wine and food a short time later. All of the starters were lovely apart from the baked aubergine with the skin being quite hard to chew considering it had been baked. I can recommend the smoked salmon and prawns. We then waited around 40 minutes for our main courses, the rigatoni Al forno although very tasty was somewhat overdone and dry and crispy on the top, one of the sirloins looked like an off cut and was curled up on the plate but was ok inside to be fair. The rack of lamb and seabass was nice though. The biggest disappointment with the main meals was the presentation of the vegetables, normally you get individual side dishes of veg with your meal but our veg was in a big pasta bowl and literally looked like the leftovers of a pan, all mixed together and literally thrown on the plate. It was not very hot either and ended up being left. We did not bother to mention it at the time so that we would not have to wait for fresh veg. The young waiter was a bit flustered and didn't know which steak was which so had to take back to the kitchen to check and come back out with the handwritten order in his hand also. Deserts and coffee went without a hitch apart from a 30 minute wait for the order to be taken, by this time the restaurant was almost empty. They just need to pay more attention to detail. Would go back.

Returned after Covid lockdown and was not disappointed. The food was gorgeous, lovely and tasty. They offer some pasta and pizza at a reduced price at lunchtimes. I also had the melon and prawns to start which my other half shared because the portion was huge. Covid restrictions were in place and felt very safe. Glad to be back and thank you La Roma

(This was a very special occasion for my brothers birthday who was also returning home from working away with the British army and also my mum and dads wedding anniversary) We had a table for 16 this evening booked for 7.30, we all arrived around 7-7.15 so wasn’t expecting to be sat straight away which was okay as we all had a catch up and drink with the family. We were told at 7.45 that there would be a further 5 minute delay before we could be sat at our table, which again didn’t bother us, as we were sat at our table we waited about 20 minutes for our starters which wasn’t so bad of a wait even tho we all pre-ordered. I had the calamari fritti and it wasn’t prepared properly and was overcooked, as I ate the first piece it was very chewy and and rubbery as I was eating it, it had a similar resemblance to eating a shoe lace, to top off my starter experience there was a wee fly that appeared from the garnish on my plate which put me off. The lad I raised the issue with was completely understanding and offered me another portion to which I refused as was out off by this. We all enjoyed our mains in fairness apart from my sisters steak being rather well done as opposed to being medium rare but she didn’t want to complain which was fair enough. My brother and his partner had the sticky toffee pudding which in my opinion was most definitely bought in. I feel from the moment I made the comment about my starter that word got round as I felt quite uncomfortable eating my main whilst one of the wait staff with long brown hair and grey shirt stared at me with not a very pleasant look on her face. When the bill came the calamari was still on there I did however consult with another member of staff aboit that an they were happy to remove it from the bill. Overall would’ve been a nice experience if I had an apology about my starter. The price of beer was actually quite good at 4.80 for Birra morreti however for a double tanqueray Sevilla and lemonade came to an astonishing £12. Was also hard to get a smile from anyone who served from behind the bar.

First time at la Roma restaurant the service started really well very impressed. Don’t like writing negative reviews, but this is more about the service at the end of the night I found it quite amusing and taken back with the service and attitude of one of the young waitresses who was doing our deserts. When the young madam presented us with the desert menu and ask what we wanted to order she wasn’t impressed because we didn’t order there and then and needed a quick look through to cut this short she presented us with her very bad attitude might have been having a bad night not sure. To be very fair the other young lady who served us with our coffees was very good and cheerful. Unfortunately it was this one young madam who spoilt the end bit of the night. We did leave a tip any way for what we received from the other staff. I hope this does follow through and just a little nudge for this young member of staff basically not to be rude to customers.

We went for lunch and had a lovely time. Staff were friendly and professional, they offer ‘half portion’ lunchtime pasta and pizza dishes which was enough for us. Food was very good, served efficiently and was hot. Definitely going back. Thank you for such attentive service xxxx

Absolutely fantastic evening at La Roma to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday with the family. The food was amazing. They cater for gluten free too - it was the best gluten-free pizza I’ve ever had! The staff are so friendly and helpful. A lovely restaurant and we cant wait to visit again!

Booked our daughters 21st meal here for a party of 8. Must say was quite disappointed with the service this time. We had to try to get the waitresses attention numerous times as they seemed to be very short staffed. We had to ask them to sort the cake out and wasn't even offered an option if we wanted it cut or not afterwards. Was basically left to our own devices and also had to wait a long time for the bill , which we was then given a 10% service charge that we wasn't notified about and server didn't even bring the change back. We've never had any issues before and the food I may add was lovely as always. It was just spoilt by the lack of service which we had booked for a special occasion which was a huge disappointment. We always leave a tip but looks like they had took their own with the service charge. It's a shame as we've always gone there and loved the food and the atmosphere, but the lack of service was a huge let down.

We had made a reservation for 5pm and eventually got the table 1/2 an hour later. There were 5 of us and came to the Roma on a recommendation. The starters were good except for the chicken wings which were greasy and tasteless, after we had eaten the waiter (male with glasses) removed used plates and cutlery but dropped a dirty knife into my lap ( had I been dressed up or in a new outfit I would of demanded cleaning) the knife was covered in food and the waiter took it from my lap with a “sorry” and nothing else. Mains arrived and was very disappointed I had a fillet steak which I had to saw through and was tough which took some chewing. My father in law had a sirloin steak which was also tough and not pleasant in fact he left all of it and took it home. The portion of veg was a table spoon if that and I had 3 very small potatoes. My sister ordered lamb and that had less veg and potatoes. My husband ordered side order of chips and my brother in laws meal should have come with chips. After 10 mins the chips still hadn’t arrived my husband asked do you know where the chips are to which the waiter responded “ well probably in the fryer”, another 5 mins passed no chips so we told them to not bring them and knock them off the bill. We did state when asked we weren’t happy and the soft drinks were taken off the bill. Most of the staff looked miserable and could barely give a smile. Definitely would not recommend the restaurant and hopefully the manager/owner could invest in training his staff not only in customer service but also manners.

Myself and husband visited last night for our wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. The service from start to finish was amazing; the food was fantastic - piccante garlic bread, calamari, lasagna, Greek salad and chicken caccatorie....Moretti beer and white wine. The restaurant was buzzing and Stefano and another manager were very on the ball, ensuring everything ran smoothly! Can't wait to go back next month to celebrate my birthday!!

We had a short notice visit from family so tried our luck getting a table for 6….the restaurant was packed! The front of house manager (Flo) asked us to take a seat in the bar and he’ll try to fit us in…. The girls st the bar were very welcoming and chatty as we ordered drinks. Flo came back to us and within 10 minutes we were all seated and ordering food. Amazing service considering how busy they were. The food was amazing too. We even ordered “off menu” and they were more than happy to accommodate the request. Will defo be going back but will book a table next time to avoid potential disappointment of being turned away!

Had a pleasant Saturday evening with friends to celebrate a birthday. Staff were very accommodating arranging an alternative table due to mix up in numbers. Service was good and overall the food was good with one exception. Three of us ordered Calamari, it was overcooked and rubbery. We persevered with it not wishing to disrupt the meal. Did mention it to the waitress who came up with the classic “ I’ll tell the chef” . Never heard anything further. At around £8 would expect better. Would be happy to dine here again but not with calamari. BJ and friends

This restaurant is in fantastic location and well worth the visit. I had the Seafood casserole which you can tell was made from scratch and from that day's fresh fish supply. Staff are attentive and prices are good. Reading the last two reviews, I'm seeing this type of reveiw more and more when I check out TA for eating advice. It seems lockdown has made us all snowflakes. People need to grow a pair and remember what we've just suffered over the last 12 months.

Very disappointing Sunday roast. Not remotely value for money. Visited Sunday 8th Oct. £15 for a child sized portion of food, (we ordered and paid for adults. Had to have something else to eat when we got home. The y’pud was a small Auntie Bessy’s sized one so you can get an idea of the portion size.
