Booked as a mid-December treat and escape from the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping going on elsewhere in Manchester. I had made the booking on line via the Cloud 23 website, but rather puzzlingly did not receive any text or email confirmation, so wasn't really certain that the booking had been made. Not to worry though as stepping from the dedicated lift to the 23 floor my wife and I were greeted and escorted to our prime location at high-backed window seats in the exec lounge. The reason for this was that the other parts of Cloud 23 were busy and occupied, but we weren't complaining as this lounge was quiet and looked more comfortable than elsewhere. We opted for the afternoon tea, which for December was filled with Christmas themed fare. Although our drinks were served fairly promptly we then had a 45 minute wait for the food, and though we were not in any hurry did seem more than excessive given the sandwiches and cakes must have been pre-prepared. That said the food was novel and very tasty. We ordered further drinks as the food arrived and then again as we were finishing the sweet choices. Again the drinks were served promptly by our friendly waiter. When our bill arrived the afternoon tea had been priced without explanationat £28 per person rather than the £25 marked on the menu, plus the 10% service charge noted on the menu.

I had booked the Cloud 23 for my wife's 40th birthday treat, going with her mum & a friend. The table was booked for 1,30pm,they arrived a little before time, the table was ready so no need to wait. Choice of afternoon tea menus available, we had already chosen the traditional tea. Pots of tea, then the tier of sandwiches & cakes, scones, jam & cream, with more tea if you wanted. The sandwiches were fine, just felt although they had been sat out,but edible, great cakes though, even had to bring some home. Even though it was a wet February day,we managed a little spell where you could get some views across Manchester, this is why you really choose the Cloud. This tea cost £25,but please remember to add the 10% on for the service charge,i had read this before i booked & hope it does go to the staff?. Overall a great location for a special occasion, just don't count on the weather.

Bought vouchers off the internet for afternoon tea in November, combining it with a visit to the Christmas market. A dedicated lift whisks you up to the 23rd floor of the Hilton. The views as you step out of the lift are breath taking. Floor to ceiling windows wrap around the restaurant. it was a clear sunny afternoon and you could see for miles. We were shown to a table for two right up against the windows. We were served cocktails from the menu. Fantastic. This was followed by tea and a delicious selection of cakes and sandwiches. As this was a special event for us we were given complimentary champagne. We sat there for hours taking in the views. I would recommend this as a treat.for tthat special event. Quite expensive but look for the vouchers on the internet.

Came with friends for the bottomless brunch and we were utterly disappointed. We had a list of complaints throughout the time there. Firstly we thought we were having bottomless brunch. The point being your drink is never empty. We were told we had to finish our drinks before ordering a new one. We then had to wait 5 minutes a time for our next drink, the bar service is extremely slow. We were not informed they had run out of peach puree and they assumed we would want strawberry belinis instead, which is a minor gripe I know but it would have been nicer to have been asked would we want this as opposed to just been given it. The staff were very rude with us throughout our time there. They made us feel like a burden and they were not friendly at all. There was then some confusion with the time we had, my friend had booked as was told it was 2 hours, the waiter said it was only 90 minutes. We didn't get an apology for the confusion just got told that we were not allowed anymore drinks and that was that. We asked for the bill off a waiter and for some reason the manager stormed over asking if we had a problem (we had many problems but we were not going to deal with someone as rude as this manager). When it came to paying the bill we refused to pay the service charge due to the issues throughout the day we explained this to the waiter and asked to pass on the feedback to the manager, as having dealt with him 5 minutes earlier it wasn't an experience we wanted to repeat. We could see the waiter telling the manager our problems and the managers reaction was extremely rude and embarrassing we could make out their conversation and the manager was implying we were lying. He didn't come over to offer an apology for the confusion or anything else throughout the day The next day I decided to write to cloud 23 expressing my concerns and to advise that the manager in question needs to learn the art of discretion. After initially receiving an email to say cloud 23 deal with complaints seriously and I would hear back in about 3 days it's safe to say I am yet to hear back..... We expected so much from cloud 23 and it failed to deliver.

My partner and I made a booking for afternoon tea for his Mum’s 60th, thinking it would be a nice, special experience to celebrate her birthday. I am not one to complain but this experience was so disappointing it warrants an honest review. We made our booking for 15.30 and arrived at 15.00 to make sure we were not late and understandably told we could not go up until the time of booking, which came to be then told they were running 15 minutes late, which is annoying, but ok. We continued to wait until 16.00 along with many other people who also had a booking at 15.30 with no apology or explanation. Just after 16.00 they said we could go up, to be sat in the bar area with a complimentary drink, which they did supply and swapped to meet our needs. We sat in the bar for a further 20-30 mins with no real apology. We were then shown to our table and tried to disregard our experience so far to celebrate, however the disappointment continued. When we booked, checked in downstairs, got out of the lift and arrived at our table, we informed the staff that one of our party were gluten free, which was acknowledged every time we informed them, however when our afternoon tea arrived there was not a gluten free option, so we sent it back. It took a further 10 minutes until it arrived again. The gluten free option was abysmal and I would class it as afternoon tea, with two sad looking sweets, ice cream, cream and jam, with standard sandwiches. At this point we were also still waiting for our coffees ordered. On the whole, this experience was bad from start to end and we decided to leave without having the afternoon tea, feeling too disappointed to continue, which was at 17.00, an hour and half after our booking. The staff seemed clueless about ours and others experience and offered minimal apologies. We informed the manager who did apologise and tried to offer arrange for us to return, however based on this experience, I would be reluctant to return, which is a great shame having been to many Hilton’s in the past and expecting a luxury experience and service based upon their reputation.

Arriving 10 minutes early for our reservation we were asked to wait in the hotel lobby til we were called as our table was not yet ready. We were directed to 6 seats where around 15 other people were already sat/stood seated on window ledges. Not a great first impression. Waited over 15 minutes and were not called to embark in the lift to the 23rd floor so stood next to the girl who had told us to wait to be called. Asked again whether our table was ready to be told no but she would radio up again. Finally got in the lift at 3.10pm to be seated in a window seat with great views over Manchester, however we found our table to be quite unstable so asked if it was possible to move which was done quickly. We then waited nearly an hour for our pre booked afternoon tea to arrive and when it did it was very disappointing. Sandwiches had obviously just come out of the fridge with their basic tuna mayo, egg n cress fillings, certainly nothing to lust over, and not the decadent offerings we were expecting. Staff were quite inattentive, matre d' showed very little interest when we queried where our food was, no apology, and didn't even bother to come and say when we could expect our food. No one asked us at any point how our food was, apart from the young lad who finally delivered it. When we got our coats again there was no asking if we'd enjoyed our experience, not what I would expect from somewhere with such a grand reputation. Extremely disappointing and we will not be returning.

Went on a Saturday afternoon 3pm on 8th Feb. This was a 60th bday treat for my mum. The service was shocking. Had to ask to get served after 15 mins after walking to find a waiter, who were all round the other side of the restaurant. Food was ok, drink was nice (when we finally got it) and upon leaving I had to ask for the bill of someone who was rushing past. The bill was brought five minutes later by someone else who then told us someone else would be over with the card machine. I had to ask ten mins later for the card machine to be brought. Bearing in mind I spent over 100 pounds it was an extremely disappointing experience. Won’t be recommending and friends have told me they have had similar experiences.

Me and my boyfriend booked a table for valentines and for chocolate and champagne. (pre paid offer) We left our meal to go to cloud 23 only to be stood waiting in a queue for 45 minutes when we were early for our reservation. There was no apology when we got to our table 45 minutes late despite pre paying for it. Once we got in we waited 15 minutes for our champagne and chocolates, my boyfriend had to ask a waiter to get them. Really nice views of the city but id go to 20 stories for the view, much better more attentive staff and just a better vibe.

Afternoon tea for my sisters birthday was very dissappointing. I have been here before and enjoyed it so thought it would be a nice treat. The sandwiches were awful. Who knew Flora and pickle(branston) was an afternoon tea option! A full savoury tartlet would have been nice, half each a bit mean. I think we had 2 slices of bread between us! The cakes were style over substance, and the pannacotta made my sister feel ill. Lumpy and runny. I feel we could have spent £55 elsewhere and sacrificed the view.

I used an online booking system to book a classic afternoon tea for a birthday celebration with a friend. A full payment of £50 was taken at the time of booking which was surprising as it is not a normal practice at other places. It turned out that apparently somehow mistakenly I managed to book just a small drink of champaigne and a table with a view at £25 per person which was not at all my intention. The table was on a sunny side on a fine summer day so it was very hot and uncomfortable. My friend does not drink alcohol so her drink contained just a few drops of juice with a massive amount of ice. We asked the manager to change the booking for an afternoon tea but were told that it was not possible. As a gesture of good we were offered a small plate of cakes. Very disappointing and overpriced experience never to be repeated again. The online booking system is unclear, vague and does not give any warning about prepayment. The confirmation that was sent to my mobile had a link that did not work. We felt trapped because we had to pay in advance and abused by our experience.

Went with my friend for a celebration. Staff very friendly catered for my allergy but felt that the sandwiches were a bit of a let down. They were just put in front of us and not told what was on them. Other tables were explained what they were eating. Desserts were nice but overall thought it was over priced. Drinks were extortionate and we feel that you are paying for the view.

The views from this bar are lovely across Manchester. Although in daylight it does come across as quite industrial.. by night time it really is something else. I would say it’s massively overpriced.. £15 for a cocktail that was smaller than your average champagne flute and £7.50 for a 330ml bottle of modelo. It’s clearly the view you’re paying for and in all honesty, not worth it. Again, they add 10% service charge on every round of drinks... can become a very expensive and not drunken night out!! I honestly wouldn’t recommend it.. it’s nice.. but not worth a return visit.

Had an afternoon tea as part of the Wellness Afternoon Tea package. We were seated with a lovely view and the cocktails were delicious! Service was good and friendly. Vegetarian friendly? Hmmm I disagree! One issue to flag is the fact we ordered the Vegetarian Afternoon Tea, double checked with the manager who sat us that it was Vegetarian, and the waitress confirmed that it WAS the vegetarian afternoon tea as she put it on our table. However she also said that it was vegetarian but for Some reason the chefs had put the chicken dish on the Afternoon tea. The waitress kindly said she would replace the two sandwiches which she did, but did not remove the meat dishes that were cross contaminating onto the veggie dishes. The sandwiches were tasty but nothing special and we were quite disappointed with the cakes and of the 4 cakes, 3 of them were mousses! I’m also a little sceptical whether all these mousses and Jellies were vegetarian considering we still received meat based products. Not sure if there was a Jubilee special on the desserts but we were expecting more cakes than mousses! We waited quite a while for the bill and to pay, even though it wasn’t really that busy. Two women next to us were also sat on a dirty table. Overall I would say the experience was Average, the decor could do with updating and the view was nice but windows were dirty!

This is a place where you go as a treat, it is very expensive but incredibly worth it. Cocktails were made absolutely perfectly and we were accompanied by a gorgeous view. One of the finer spots in Manchester that costs a pretty penny. Very very worth it and had a brilliant time.

The staff and ambience was the highlight of our experience. Extremely conscientious and very professional offering excellent customer service. For this I would return. The food and drinks were lovely but sandwiches were a little soggy, but not a disaster, they were still enjoyed. We purchased the wellbeing afternoon tea and the facilities in the Hilton were probably the weakest area. There are very limited changing facilities therefore can be extremely busy and cramp. There are only 4 loungers therefore if people were in the jacuzzi and pool the only option was the sauna (which is fine, but not for a long length of time). This area of the hotel requires a renovation quite urgently I think as it brings down the whole experience. The afternoon tea however was thoroughly enjoyable with great views and lovely decor, so thank you to the staff of Cloud 23 for making us feel so welcome.
