Staff are great, accommodation lovely, the management great, food great... would highly recommend to anyone visiting.

Was a nice family warm environment. The food was not as described as on the menu, for example 4 plates came without roast potatoes and 1 had them, my friend politely questioned the waiter about the lack of roast potatoes on the plates and she...was told ‘roast potatoes don’t come with the roast’. This was a lie as one our friends had roast potatoes and also the menu stated that ALL roast dinner come with ‘crispy roasties’. Also we had to wait 50 minutes for our food to come and it was like warm. There was also lack of vegetables on my plate.More

We held our wedding reception here in the back room. The landlord Mark was very accommodating in the build up, giving us some great ideas to enhance the evening, and the bar service and homecooked food was excellent. We ordered the beef hotpot which was...so good in fact many guests went up for a second helping! The room was a perfect size for the number of guests (60ish) and everyone was complimentary about the pub in general including the rooms which were booked by friends and family. Would highly recommend!More

Me and my business partner enjoyed the new menu at the Bowling Green today. Especially recommend the crab cakes and the chicken and leek pie. Attentive and friendly service as always!

Mark and his staff at the bowlinggreen have been fantastic. They really helped ensure our function a wake went smoothly, the venue is spot on really nice friendly atmosphere, the food and buffet provided was superb and little touches such as being able to select...a song were great. Popped in here with my family and had a lovely Sunday roast lamb dinner - the service was fast & efficient. Only issue was we had a dog and had to move table as they are not allowed on the carpeted area. They did give...the dog some treats :)More

Great Sunday Roast dinners, I had beef, hubby had turkey, both delicious, plenty of veg, roast spuds and mash! Service excellent as always...Great value for money.

Great Sunday lunch, fine ale and fantastic, attentive staff. Highly recommended and especially if you have kids as outdoor play area very safe and kid friendly.

We were last at the Bowling green in 2019 and it was all good from service to food & drinks. Unfortunately on 13/08/2023 it was not good at all. The staff were non interested in helping us to get a table indoors and said we...can sit outside. Outside tables were dirty and we were sat at table 201 which still had dishes on which were cleared b a member of staff but he made no mention of he was coming back to wipe the dirty table down, which he didn't. I went in after 5 minutes and asked for something to clean the table with and was handed some blue roll and a bottle of spray. Cleaned the table which was pretty dirty (it's now probably the cleanest table there). Beyond that and the lack of interest from staff plus seeing someone send their meal back because it really wasn't up to the quality that used to be at the BG, we decided to leave. Unless this place improves , we won't be back which is unfortunate as my parents had wanted to book a stay here as they had thought it much better than a chain hotel.More

Bought a lamb dinner and turkey and stuffing. My lamb came (large) it was one piece of thinly cut lamb. The rest of the food had been reheated so I left it all. My wife’s food was cold by the time I eventually got mine...it also had no stuffing ?? Again was reheated food. I would not recommend anyone eat here unless you want cheap tasteless foodMore

We had a family funeral here, and we asked for vegetarian/vegan buffet. It was excellent, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The service was super too, thank you for looking after us all.
