Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not been here for a few years & what’s happened !?! Decor is nothing like it used to be & weird painting on the wall looks like random rolled black paint ! We were told on entry that they needed the table back in an...hour & a half which we were fine with but oh my god, all the waiters were basically running around and we had our food thrown at us each course including the drinks !!! Quality of the chicken in my Cantonese chicken was poor, worse I’ve had anywhere in a long time. Would not come here again, there are far too many better Chinese restaurants in ManchesterMore

Something's changed. I've been to this restaurant for probably 15 years and have never returned a dish. However today, the salt and pepper ribs were sweet and even had a slight sprinkling of sugar on top! I sent them back thinking there'd been some mistake...and expecting it to be put right however the ribs sent back were exactly the same - sweet! If I want sugar and pepper ribs I'll ask for them. 'Salt and pepper'? the clue's in the name. The waitress suggested that I don't order them again - I think I will order them again but in another restaurant :-(More

Used to be a family favourite, visiting every 2-3 months. Decided to go for Easter Bank Holidays. Arrived early to ensure a table and the restaurant was quiet. Ordered 4 starters, 2 came out, of which one was cold. The other 2 took 20 minutes...to arrive after asking several times only to be told they are coming. When the other 2 arrived they weren’t as good as we had experienced in previous visits. We ordered 4 mains, 2 came out together and we immediately asked if the others were on their way. 10 minutes later a 3rd main arrived. We chased the 4th only to be told it was on its way. Everyone else had finished when the 4th main arrived. The food was quite bland compared to usual, normally fresh and tasty. When I asked for the service charge to be removed from the nearly £200.00 bill the guys didn’t ask why, spoke to his manager about it who didn’t even bother to ask what was wrong. They removed it shorty after. We left disappointed. My local takeaway would have been better, hotter and delivered together.More

Both me and my boyfriend came out of the restaurant feeling unwell. We did have a lot of food and thought it was that. But then the feeling progressed. My boyfriend ended up turning white and throwing up. Whilst I was feeling wheezy until the...late evening.More

My husband and I eat here on a busy Friday night. We had no reservations but the table was ready within the estimated time. The food was as good as ever and good service too. I’d not been here for some years but for me...it remains the go to restaurant in Chinatown.More

It’s a couple of years since we last ate here - probably the best Cantonese in Chinatown. And they’ve done some refurbishment. Half of the restaurant has been converted to booth seating – including booths for two. The other half remains as before with mainly...tables for larger groups. Some folk like booths. Other aren’t so keen. And we’re in that latter group. I think you lose something of the general buzz of a restaurant, when you can’t see people or see the servers bustling round with trays of food. On midweek evening, the place was packed – I can’t recall ever coming here and finding it so busy, so there was still some atmosphere. But we were here to eat, not to do an interior design critique. And the eating side of things is certainly unchanged. So, some dim sum to us to share. Really crisp vegetarian spring roll. Steamed dumpling stuffed with prawn and lots of Chinese chives; Another where the dumpling wrapper had been rolled round a chicken filling, into a sort of cigar shape, before steaming and then coated with oyster sauce. The two dumplings were new to us and were really good, in both texture and flavour. There was a tangy soy and black vinegar dipping sauce. Mains were a game of two halves. Kung po is the Cantonese take on the Sichuan gong bao. It’s traditionally prepared with chicken but here, they also do a vegetarian version – pepper, onion, Chinese mushroom, bean sprouts, cashew nuts and the like - in a lovely sweetish sauce with a hefty poke from dried chilli. It’s a longstanding favourite of ours. And there’s something to be said for ordering favourites, even though it’s good to order something new. So, pork with ginger and spring onions was new. But it really needed more ginger to bring it alive. As it was, it was just a fairly basic pork and veg stirfry, in a somewhat gloopy sauce, that was OK but nothing to set the tastebuds tingling. Service is efficient but, as seemingly everywhere in Chinatown, lacks any real hospitality.More

Wonderful meal at Little hang sing. We are veggies and on a limited budget but we had a fantastic meal of mixed vegetables with ginger and spring onion and the most delicious egg fried rice. We had loads of choice on the dim sum menu...with spring onion baubles delicious and Steamed dumplings in black bean sauce. Staff were very attentive and friendly even though the restaurant was packed by the time we left.More

Great place with an excellent vegetarian selection. Took us all a while to decide as there was 3 pages of vegetarian food. Service was quick and the food was delicious. We will be coming back here.

Beautiful meal, we had a few starter to share (including some scollops) that were divine - then we shared the fillet beef in garlic and ginger, it was delicious. Staff were lovely and all washed down with a bottle of Malbec - delish! Thank you

The black female waitress is a godsend and a credit to this restaurant. The atmosphere was nice. The positives end there. Food tasted of stale oil. Very oily food. Observed by all in the group. Black customers not treated as well as Whites or Asians....The Chinese gentleman essentially waited beside the table to make them pay even though some were still eating and calculating their individual bills. One of the black ladies felt hassled and had to resort to telling him that they would call him back when they are ready. While we were having a good time, it was not nice to see other patrons treated this way in Manchester in 2024. For the prices, the food should be better.More
