It was exceptional! From the welcome to the meals everything was magic! I love service when you don’t even think yet and the hosts (can’t tell waiters because they are more than that) are helping and bringing everything you need, When I booked the reservation...I filled the box for information for the stuff if I have any allergies. All food was excluded those ingredients. The food itself was magically delicious and … you didn’t feel that you ate a lot (like having a “heavy stomach”) service is perfect, meals are magnificent, wine was superb! Love it! Definitely come back again. The price ! Was not so expensive as we expected! Love itMore

Intimate fine dining restaurant. Had the Petite Galerie menu. One of us was vegetarian and the restaurant/Chef was very accommodating in adapting the menu to suit. Attentive and friendly staff and was even recognised and greeted in town the following day! Definitely worth a visit.

For us, the food is most important and our menu was superb- creative, refined, beautifully presented and the best we had while in Alsace. The waiters were very friendly and efficient. A couple of less successful aspects- our table in a corner was very hot...under the lights shining on the artwork on the wall. The wines by the glass recommended were correct but quite expensive and not up to the standard of those we had in other restuarants in the region. Long waits between courses ( and we live in France so used to the slower pace). We had advised the restaurant when we made our reservation that my wife was severely allergic to mushrooms- which the head waiter confirmed when we were seated. However, when the first entré arrived sure enough there were girolles/mushrooms visible in the dish- which was replaced with a delicious version without the mushrooms. Still this did not inspire confidence and detracted from the otherwise wonderful dishes.More

This small restaurant is located in a narrow street in the historic centre of Colmar. The two seating areas have a modern décor. Some guests had clearly dressed up while others preferred casual clothing. The staff was helpful, very professional, and well-organised. We had no...problem getting by with our mediocre French and some English. Both of us had the menu "Petite Galerie" which costs 100 euro and comprises five courses plus amuse-bouches and a small loaf of bread. All the dishes were well executed with high-quality ingredients and often an inventive - but not overbearing - twist. The recommended wine was very good as well. The pacing of the courses was agreeable. We had a very pleasant culinary evening. This was our first visit and I am planning to return. I had never been to a one-star restaurant before and this establishment definitely whet my appetite. Annotation: You might find this restaurant less attractive if there are vegetarians or vegans in your group. Seafood is a prominent feature of the "Galerie" menu.More

Very delicious ! Service is friendly and professional! Love the idea of the chef making every dish as a painting! Only one thing need to complain is one of the waiter after I ordered the glass of red wine ( 10 € ) and recommend...me another one , in the end on the bill and I realized the wine he recommend is 25 € !! That’s not a very comfortable feeling ! Pity !More

We had a great dinner with very nice waiters! We love the Amuse-Gueule and the sweets at the end of our dinner. Only the room temperature was a bit too cold.

We had a highly enjoyable meal at this restaurant in the old town in Colmar. Reservations are strongly recommended as it was very busy and rightfully so. There are two main options for tasting menus, a 5 course and a 7 course version (not including...an amazing trio of amuse bouche starters). We were satiated after 5 courses so only go for 7 if you are really hungry. Every dish was a visual pleasure with an intriguing array of colors, flavors, and textures. The white asparagus ice cream (part of the first appetizer) was unique and delicious. The wine list is excellent with an emphasis on vins d'Alsace. There are many excellent options from dry to very sweet. The service was also top notch. All in all, an elegant dining experience.More

I booked a table around 6 weeks before the dinner. I also re-confirmed the booking some days before. In the afternoon when we had the dinner booked for the evening, I received a phone call from the restaurant. I was asked if we are interested...in "a VIP experience to sit at the chef's table". I asked if this table is somewhere in the back of the restaurant and was told no, it is next to the kitchen. I said fine, we will take the table and was then asked if we have anyone with a disability in our party. We were shocked when we got to the restaurant and were shown to a small table with high bar chair - like stools, right in front of the kitchen, next to the coat hangers. The whole area smelled strongly like food. I told the maitre d (a woman) immediately that this was not acceptable to us and she never told me we were going to be sitting on uncomfortable high chairs, in the back area separated completely from the dining room. To my shock, she started yelling at me that i am a liar "that i should have known it would be high chairs because she asked me if we have disabled people in the party". I also asked if it is acceptable to try to make it seem like a VIP experience and be seated where all your clothes smell like food afterwards? She continued her extremely rude behavior and even the chef (owner) started to yell at us when we said that we are leaving now. It is clear that they overbooked the restaurant and tried to sell this small table in the back. Not ready to pay minimum €400-€500 for dinner in such a location. Interestingly, we also had booked this place for dinner last summer, only to receive a cancellation the day before saying they had some issue in the restaurant and would no longer accommodate us. Very interesting indeed. I would stay away from this place, unless you want to be called a liar and all sorts of other things, and be yelled at. Never experienced anything like this in my years of travels all over the world and eating at some of the finest restaurants.More

We had a family dinner while in Colmar. We have been pleasantly surprised from the beginning to the end. Quality justifies the price here. Amazing and unique tastes combinations, excellent wine lists and service. A place not to be missed if in Colmar.

At the end of a six-week stay in Colmar, this was the restaurant that I absolutely had to visit one more time before leaving for the States. The cuisine is the best to be had, and is presented beautifully without being 'precious'. I wish I...could prepare seafood with such finesse. The staff manages to be knowledgeable and correct but welcoming. Advice is gladly given concerning menu items or wine selections. The inside is handsomely turned out with copper accents and interesting lighting. Reservations definitely recommended. Wish I could go back tonight....More

Absolutely racist. We’re Muslim Arabs wearing the hijabs. We visited this restaurant on the 6th of August 2021 with a confirmed booking through The Fork website found via the main restaurant’s website. We came in 10 min before our booking with the confirmation email that...I showed them. And they told us that there were no reservations. They kept playing with the book, won’t let us see the book ourselves and they would go over the wrong calendar date and time thinking we have no clue what’s really going on. I’d point out the wrong date, even the wrong book, and ask them to show me the right page. The man would tell me it’s his book and he can’t show me. What a sad response. Absolutely racist. I told them we drove all the way from Zurich (2 hrs) for this restaurant, the manager came and asked me to sit outside for drinks (no one is outside btw) as she’s trying to ‘find a solution’ for me. 2 hrs after our booking, I received an email from TheFork cancelling our reservations due to an “exception”. Absolutely shocked that racism such as this still exists.More

Recommended innovative tasting menu. We enjoyed each course. However for others we would recommend that you ask for seating inside. We asked to sit outside but found the street a bit noisy with a popular wine bar next door, and we also found the service...more confused and uncoordinated. For example the sommelier only got around to speaking with us after the first amuse bouche. Out of sight, out of mind?More

L’Atelier du Peintre is a Michelin starred restaurant in the old town of Colmar, very close to the St. Martin’s Church. We have chosen to celebrate here my mother’s 70th birthday. We have contacted the restaurant prior to have them arranged flowers and cake. On...arrival the table was beautifully set with a gorgeous bouquet in the middle. They offer two different tasting Menu and the a la carte selection. The Petite Galerie menu with 5 courses for 73 Euro and the Grande Galerie menu with 7 courses for 89 Euros. We all have chosen this time from the a la carte menu. For starters we have ordered the duck liver with celery emulsion, the seafood platter and the egg soufflé’s with roasted tomato cream. All were beautifully plated and tasty. The egg soufflé although sounds strange but the combination has worked out well. Our main courses were the pigeon with plums, the roasted monkfish and the matured beef fillet. The monkfish was served with beetroot, blackberry and shrimp sauce, the beef fillet came with a tomato tart on the side, colonnata bacon and summer truffle. The pigeon was served with plums, almond milk and oregano sauce. This was attractively plated and tasty although the meat was was quite hard. All our dishes were nicely presented, varied in terms of taste and visual appeal. The restaurant has a great variety of wine to choose from. The service started a bit slow but once it got going it was smooth, knowledgeable and friendly. The restaurant was as good as we hoped but without any wow factor. However my mother had a really memorable birthday celebration.More
