Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We called the restaurant to have reservation. It was difficult to communicate in English. Just after we could successfully communicate, they refused our reservation just telling us no sheets are available. However; some minutes later, other person called for reservation and could make it on...the same date. We'll cancel the reservation anyway. Unfriendly worst restaurant.More

This is a nice and cozy restaurant, run by a family where the husband is the chef, the wife is the maitre d'hotel and the son is the sommelier. They are very friendly, make you feel at home and give excellent service. The food is...high quality french cuisine. I really enjoyed the lamb, they were very accommodating to my girlfriend who is vegetarian. Definitely recommend.More

We visited this place last night and just loved it! A typical and authentic French restaurant where the food is chosen, prepared and cooked with love.. Menu is small, with 3 choices for each course but we couldn’t fault it. From the beautiful goats cheese...brûlée, which l had for a starter, to the pomegranate duck with risotto and then the poached apricots with pistachio ice cream, everything was absolutely delicious. We asked the sommelier to recommend wines, all of which complimented the dishes perfectly and came with an abundance of interesting background information. A fantastic place. Book it!More

Spotted a number of good reviews for this restaurant. Wow! The restaurant is family run. Maman front of house, son sommelier and papa chef. What a team. The welcome was fantastic, food was sublime, wines were amazing and great wine list. Huge knowledge about the...wines, terroir and wine making and the food matches for the dishes we chose were perfect. They sell wine too so we left with 6 bottles as well. Can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. In a town full of busy busy restaurants, this was an oasis and well worth the slightly longer walk. Nothing was too much trouble. Saw a bad review saying it was unfriendly, ignore it, the reviewer was obviously having a bad day!More

Amazing food and great service. Very small restaurant. Booking essential as also need to check opening times. Family run. Dad the chef, Mum front of house. Son sommelier and very enthusiastic explainer of menu and wines. Food was Michelin star standard and the best we...had on our trip which took us to Colmar, a great spa with a gourmet restaurant and Strasbourg. It is a bit quirky, but really good.More

A fabulous small, cozy, family run restaurant located in the center of town. The menu was small, but there was a nice selection of dishes in which to choose. The sommelier, the son had an excellent knowledge of wines and recommend his expertise in pairing...wines with the courses. Portions were nicely plated, generous and delicious. The three-course meal was a great value, high quality for Euro 43. As this is a small restaurant, reservations are need. Would absolutely return.More

We do recommend this small family run restaurant. They are welcoming and offer irreproachable service. The menu is limited, sign of only fresh food made just before being brought to you. The food was really good and their sommelier will help you to get the...perfect pairing. If you are in Colmar, this is a place you need to book for dinner.More

What a wonderful meal!! Intimate restaurant with such care to the food, wine, and atmosphere. Absolutely excellent. Plus, the family running the restaurant are so sweet; they gave us many recommendations for the rest of our trip to Alsace.

We went to Le Petit Bidon for dinner. Our expectations were very high because of the restaurant’s rating. The restaurant is quite small having only 6 tables, but very cozy and nicely decorated. The curtains were half closed, so that people from the outside could...not see the inside, which made our dinner quite private and nice. The menu list was not long, but the offered food sounded very delicious. The lady and her son were very friendly and she explained to us all the dishes. We found it quite nice that she interacted with us. We spoke German to her. (she speaks very well) Our food was extremely delicious, my girlfriend had a Truffle Risotto and I enjoyed an Iberic pork with vegetables mousse. Our dessert was also very delicious. It contained chocolate, berries mousse and ice cream. We would definitely eat there again and we highly recommend you to pay them a visit and enjoy their food! (Don’t forget about the reservation)More

The service is great, very personal and friendly. They explain the dishes in at least three languages (German for us, English and of course French) and take their time for the customers. The location is quite small, and making a reservation is necessary to get...a table. This is a plus for me, as it seems to prevent the tourist masses to invade the place. Also the small nature of the business allows for a more quiet atmosphere and the aforementioned personal service. The menu has only a small number of dishes, and no standard ones like the ubiquitous “tarte flambé” or similar. This is also something I regard as a big advantage, because those dishes are very well made and you get something new and uncommon. Pricing is a bit above average. However, for a small family business and the great service and food, this is perfectly alright.More

Everything about our dinner at le Petit Bidon was first rate. The food was innovative and delicious. The family-run small restaurant created a cozy, family feel. The location is tiny (20 seats), so reservations are absolutely needed.

We passed by mid-afternoon, and were fortunate to find the owner saying farewell to some lunchtime guests, and she was happy to give us a reservation for dinner. Le family-run Petit Bidon takes only 20 guests each evening. Monsieur does his magic in the kitchen,...while Madame and their engaging son run the front of the house with charm and efficiency. An amuse-bouche of intensely tomato bisque began our culinary journey. The specials included seasonal Alsatian white asparagus in an exquisite velouté served with wasabi-spiked fromage blanc. Crème brûlée with two cheeses was sprinkled with toasted hazelnuts, much lighter than we might have imagined. The grilled gambas with a reduction of their shells were served on a spelt ‘risotto’ with white asparagus that combined crunch with flavor. The loin of lamb was perfectly pink, with a zucchini mousse and a pyramid of polenta. The owners’ son chose a ‘bio’ wine to accompany each dish, and proudly came by to show us the bottle and explain each selection’s provenance. Our desserts, a mousse au chocolat with passion fruit sorbet, and a creation of strawberries with white cheese and whipped cream, were excellent. The restaurant is small, with many hard surfaces, but the positioning of the tables and the draperies on the windows make conversation easy. It seemed to be a special occasion restaurant: the couple next to us were celebrating their engagement, while another couple, obviously soon to be parents, were enjoying an evening out. Le Petit Bidon is two blocks off the beaten track in the city center and well worth seeking out.More
