By chance walking along the quai we decided upon lunch at this little restaurant. We chose to sit outside on a delightfully warm day. We started with a Gesiers de canard dish which was the best I have eaten, served in a light vol au vant, with salad. Superb. He had foie de veau (calves liver) au framboise which was... More

Booked lunch here on the basis of the web site menus and photographs together with some of the comments/reviews online. we were a party of 4. The luncheon menu appeared to be OK and we ordered together with a bottle of wine. My first course of mackerel salad was somewhat insipid. My companions all ordered what tuned out to be... More

Having walked through the water mirror on a balmy evening in Bordeaux, we were beginning to get a little despondent at the choices of eateries around Quinconces, until we came across La Belle Epoque, a small family run business on the waterfront. The food and service were great. The menu was traditional and the food cooked to precision. Well worth... More

We had a big group (25+) dinner with a predefined menu. The service was pretty fast. The price was very reasonable and the 3 course menu was excellent. The room is nicely decorated in an old fashion way.

Lunch on Easter Monday. Busy with families and locals but the service was excellent. We had the 21 euro three course menu. Choice included a starter of herring on warm potatoes and salad (basket of bread good for mopping up the dressing and juices), a main course which might very loosely be described as a duck shepherds pie (the mashed... I spotted this place whilst walking from our riverside car park to the city centre at lunchtime. The prices looked high but the interior - beautiful tiling, blown-up photos of old Bordeaux - and the fact that it was packed, made us go in. We were right to do so. The formule express for 15€ was excellent value - delicious... More

We kept walking by this restaurant and regardless the time of day, it was always busy. So we popped back for dinner, and werent let down. Only opted for 1 course each but they had deals for 2 or 3. The beef tenderloin and scallops come highly recommended from us. The wine wasnt as good as we'd had in other... More

If there is a more beautiful restaurant interior in Bordeaux, I'd like to know about it. Only about a dozen Parisian restaurants have this glorious Belle Epoque display of French ceramic tiles over walls, ceiling and floor. And these were made by Bordeaux's own Jules Viellard et Cie, which went out of business about 1900. I know this because I... More

I had lunch here a few days ago and it was 35 c, very hot so I didn't want to sit inside, so unfortunately I couldn't admire the beautiful interior decor, that was formality part of the Nantes Hotel. I ate on the The terrace which is not far from the quai Louis XV111 on the Garonne river where the... More

We passed this restaurant today and although it's on a touristy stretch near the river, it looked so authentic and I have been craving a proper French meal - so 'Bordeaux style' I cycled down there tonight and had a wonderful meal. I had an Express dinner menu of Châteaubriand and Profiteroles- I loved the little touches of the tapenade... More
