Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had dinner here on day two of our stay in Pont Aven and were thrilled with the friendly and proficient service , We chose traditional Breton fare, wholesome fish casserole and oven baked clams and mussels stuffed with garlic butter and braised pork cheeks...with cider sauce and apples washed down with a reasonably priced bottle of Pouilly Fuisse. A happy evening in a beautiful little town . Very good value. Choose one of the set menus,More

We waited for ages to be served - the people on the next table gave up waiting and left. We ordered trio de poissons and when it finally arrived there was a miniscule piece of cod, salmon that had been frozen and one small sardine....It was dreadful. We complained but just got a shrug. Clearly there are enough people passing through in August that they don't mind giving poor service. On top of that the waitress spilt a red fish sauce over my partner's shirt and didn't even apologise. When I complained, yes, another shrug.More

Lodges31 hello, We thank you for taking the time to give us your reviews. We are sorry to read that our restaurant did not give you full satisfaction. Our restaurant only cooks fresh products prepared to the minute, hence sometimes a longer delay between dishes....More

OK, it’s true that early December, not all restaurants are open in this touristic place but it seems that you can always count on “Les Ajoncs d”Or” to serve you a good meal. The first evening we had a book a table even if this...was not that necessary but we also reserved a gigantic seafood plate for two people. We were absolutely not disappointed as everything was in large quantity, very fresh and tasty, including a beautiful crab. Looking to other places during our trip, we never found equivalent at the same price. It’s really a great ration price/quality and the same goes for the wine list. The second evening, we had a more traditional diner with fishes but always of the same good taste and preparation. Last, but not the least, we enjoyed our discussion with the lady owner as well as the waiters. Really a great team. Just keep it like that please!More

The restaurant is part of a hotel that goes back a bit in time. It once housed many of the artists who passed through there. The restaruant feels like a boarding house or old style hotel restaurants complete with high ceilings. With history, very nice...decorations and art work that's for sale, you have a good feeling of being in a different era. The menu is pretty broad but with seafood a specialty and they do it well. Service was good and overall it's a good value for the money.More

Great menu. So much to choose from. I had the best beef carpaccio in my life, served with parmesan. The service was great. The restaurant itself is decorated with an amazing collection of paintings. This place is very special. So glad we went there.

Nice stetting at this square, with a terras in the middle and the feeling that Paul Gauguin was keeping an Eye on things. This time of the year not to crowed, benficial to the village and the visitor, and after a long walk, appetite and...crashed on the terras of Les Ajonc dÒr. NO regrets, nice friendly service from the Female waiter, as a gesture from the restaurant,, amuse on the table, de Plat du Jour excillent, good honest kitchen. Finished with a good coffee to get me going again.More

Having parked the car, my friend and I met up with our wives at this establishment in the middle of the town. We each needed a drink as it was a very warm day. It is well situated to allow people watching. It was quite busy...but the service was very good, the hardest part was trying to catch their attention to pay when we had finished.More

This restaurant was recommended by friends 10 years ago to try out for our 24th wedding anniversary prior to our silver wedding the year after. We have eaten there at least once per holiday since then. The food is always very good, with a good...range of menus and special dishes! And it’s so nice to be recognised when I phone up to book! The warm welcome and personal touches make it special. Looking forward to our 35th anniversary meal there next year!More

For us this felt like a tourist trap. Our guinea fowl was dry and was white meat, it seemed like old chicken instead of the dark juicy meat we had before in other restaurants. The waiter forgot us with desert and the time between courses...and bill was long. The formule menu was € 6,- p.p. more than stated on the board. Few days ago we had diner at Chez Matty et Matto, we absolutely prefer that place. (see our other review).More

Finding a late night place to eat is difficult, but we found it fine with perfect salmon and a glass of wine. Lovely English speaking staff and English menus. When I was given a French menu they apologised and we carried on. Tasty food and...a lot of it I would normally have hot I had cold. 4 stars out of 5 for me.More

My husband and I were the only Americans staying at the hotel at the time. The French like their two star accommodations. They know they'll get a clean room and decent, although not spectacula, food. We were treated very warmly by the staff of both...the hotel and restaurant (which sometimes overlapped). The menu is nothing extraordinary and similar to other coastal establishments. The seafood is very fresh.More

We visited on the 4th September at the beginning of a short break to the area, and had a welcoming and warm reception from the waiter. I ordered moules marinere to start and a medium to well done filet steak and my partner soup de...poisson to start and a medium filet steak. The seak was described as the maitre de speciality. My moules were lacking in taste, and really small - though the liquid was a little better. The soup de poisson was very watery and lacked taste. The steak arrived looking very rare for both of us. It was fortunate the waiter had provided very sharp steak knives, as it was still impossible to cut two thirds of my portion at all. The parts of the supposed filet that could be cut after a struggle needed chewing for an age before a piece could be swallowed. I eventually gave up as I was afraid I might lose my teeth or damage my jawbone. On reflection I should not have tried to eat it at all after the first piece as it was probably a part of something that should not have been eaten by anyone. My partners was a little better as it was able to be cut, but needed much chewing. She eventually gave up the struggle too. I mentioned the awful steak to the waiter, but this only raised a Gallic shrug of the shoulders. We decided not to stay any longer and departed 80 euros lighter with the feeling we had been robbed.More

Having read the reviews we were looking forward to a good French meal. We had the fish soup to start and that was not special, but a good French fish soup. The problems came with the main courses. The combinations of food just didn't work...some parts were pointless such as the 4 bunches of sweet red grapes served with the pork. They added nothing to the flavours. Then some parts that damaged the taste of the rest. My husband had fish with choucroute. The fish and sauce he said were fine but the choucroute was so vinegary it just didn't work. My pork was caramelised with honey and ginger. It had crossed the line to being burnt with a burnt taste and I could detect no ginger. It was served with white beans that had had no treatment since they came out of the tin. We are sad we chose this restaurantMore
