Each time we visit the remarkable restaurant of the now (well deserved!) one star michelin chef Keigo Kimura in Auxerre we can't wait to return. The seasonal food, creative and beautifully presented without being pretentious, is DELICIOUS and well priced and the service is impeccable. What more can I say? This is a wonderful, wonderful restaurant!

Auxerre’s one star Michelin restaurant is a feast for sight and taste. I’ll simply say up front that each dish was beautiful to the eyes and fabulous to the taste, to avoid repeating myself. They have 12 tables in a very simple, minimalist room that takes no attention away from the food. For lunch the room was full, and a... More

At first glance, the space is austere: but on a day that approached record-level heat, the clean lines and cool materials were a welcome sight. Upon closer inspection, the attention to details at l'Asperule emerges: the shapes on the wall recall the leaves of the eponymous plant, the explanation of the name on the gougere presentation dish... And attention to... More

We were very pleased with the dinner. In total 6 or 7 courses with a lot of astonishing plates. Difficult to say what we preferred, e.g. asparagus with a soup of chorizo and celery or the marinated trout or the fried snails or perfect grilled quail ..... A couple of interesting wines for tasting along with the dinner. As my... More

My husband and I had the best dinner we have ever had here, and over the past year and a half have continued to live it over and over in our memory ... We will be back some day! Must try!

As Japanese chefs often do, the chef here took pains to create precise, delicate dishes. Each one was a delight. It was a nice touch to be told how many courses each glass of wine was intended to last for--keeping the juices flowing, as it were, while avoiding inebriation. All dinner guests are served the same menu, which is smart... More

Why eat at a restaurant when you could do as well at home? Convenience is one reason but the culinary creations at L'asperule would rarely be contemplated or even completed by someone without immense technical expertise. The set degustation menu at €58 rises to €85 with a selection of four wines. Complaints? Perhaps the chocolate sauce with dessert might have... More

Dinning in a 1 star restaurant can often be an expensive affair. Not here! in this small minimalistic restaurant you have a fixed menu at great prices. on top of that an excellent winelist with affordable prices.

Not your everyday Micheline one star restaurant. Small, packed with 18 diners and little space for the service staff. A degustation menu with distinctive Japanese flavour. Very enjoyable, although not particularly memorable. Not expensive. Last two courses took about an hour, mainly due to the influx of diners, and the tiny cramped working spaces. Would recommend for visitors to Auxerre,... More

Simply one of the best thought through tasting menus I have had the pleasure to enjoy in a while. Every item on it worked together and, above all, fitted perfectly with the weather at the time of our visit. July 16th was an incredibly warm day yet l'Asperule's menu managed to bring freshness and cool to our palates. The decor... More
