The advantage of living in France is you can hop in the car and explore the countryside at a whim. That was how we came across this quaint restaurant in the beautiful hilltop village of Vezelay. Often when we explore the countryside we end up at a little countryside restaurant whose food is... ok, at best. Coquille however was anything... More

My wife and I had dinner here on Tuesday 2 August 2016. The place was packed and the staff was stressed. The dinner that we were served was disappointing: the cheese cake (starter) had hardly any taste and was microwaved, there was only one (1) slice of bread for the two of us topped up with some additional slices of... Four of us traveling together, and the place we had wanted to visit was no longer in business, so we choose this place. Very good food, nice wine list, owner very helpful,

This restaurant is a real gem in the center of Vezelay. The owners are lovely and it was a welcome stop for a midday meal. We had the boeuf bourguignon, a quiche made with a local cheese, Epoisse, which was delicious, and a fresh green salad. We drank the local Pinot Noir wine, new and light. The service was without... In Vezelay to see, what else, the church, and after an hour or so of wandering thru the ground and the village, cold and soaked to the skin we happened upon here for lunch. Greeted warmly, set right down next to the fire, the waiter even offered to hang and dry out hats and gloves. Headed straight into mains -... More

We decided on this restaurant for lunch based on Rick Steve's recommendation and was not disappointed. We sat in the peaceful courtyard and both ordered the confit de canard for our main courses. It was moist and in a delicious mushroom sauce. The waiter was very friendly as well. Lovely choice for the area!

We stayed in Vezelay for one night in early September. We walked the whole town looking at the various menus and prices for dinner and settled on Auberge de la Coquille. Our waiter was very friendly. We loved the andouillette and duck as well as the wine. Very reasonable prices and terrific food, one of the best deals we've had... More

A disgrace to French cooking - the food tasted like it had been heated up from a tin - only the dessert was OK.

Walking past this restaurant on the busy main street of Vézelay in August you'd be excused for thinking "just another tourist trap". And indeed the place is, not surprisingly, full of tourists with perhaps a few pilgrims as well. We had spotted the outside area out the back on our first walk past, and decided to return for a late... More

Looked "touristy", so that is always a consideration as to whether it would be OK ....... very pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent, the food was tasty and interesting, presented well and reasonably priced. Would recommend this restaurant. Varied menu with lots of options. Formules, Plat de Jour and a la Carte.

Thank Gregory R
