The waiter hates doing what he does. He was a miserable person unable to smile and to display the slightest courtesy. That could have been forgotten in case the food was excellent, but it was the very opposite. I ordered a duck confit and my...More

It was out third visit here with a school group and before we have had a brilliant authentic experience with smiley patient service. Tonight was really not good. The staff were less than attentive and the service was terrible. It is a shame that they...More

this is the second time in 3 years that we have stopped here for lunch. High trip advisor ranking helped us choose from the others in the square. Note a lot of recent negative comments re drink price. High cost of drinks is not uncommon...More

After looking around the many restaurants available in the area we decided to have a go at la Mère Catherine. We were sat outside the front of the restaurant (be prepared to squish yourself between other tables, it's part of the French charm..) and we're...More

There isn't a place on earth where it worth paying €19 for a house red to say you've been there! There are plenty of beautiful, genuinely run restaurants in Paris to eat, then go to the artist's square for your people watching and photos with...More

This Dinner would have scored more than an Average with me had the manager not been quite rude and condescending towards us. The waiter was lovely, helpful and nothing but polite. The food was actually very delicious and I feel while a little over priced,...More

It's a tourist trap really; even the waiter laughed when I asked if 14.5 was right for the orange juice... he chuckled and said yes you can buy your own box of oranges for that. Great! Food was pretty standard; chicken in my Caesar salad...More

Went into the restaurant to ask for a salmon entree for my teen kid, while my wife and I were to only take desert. An individual under the name of Olivier was upset to know we would only order one entree, he told us this...More

Description
One of Paris' most historic restaurants, founded in 1793 by Catherine Lemoine, the decor of Chez la Mere Catherine respects its past, retaining features such as traditional antiques, chairs and a bar. Spread throughout large rustic rooms, this is the original 'bistro' overlooking the city, with a peaceful garden and a blooming flowery terrace for wonderful summer dining. Although the menu has certainly changed over the years to meet the wishes of the clientele, the changes are not so radical as to stray from the typical cuisine of France. Offerings on the menu include Honey Confit of Suckling Pig, Ginger Grilled Frog's Legs and Seabream with Mango Coulis, amongst other delights. Entertaining you with performances of yesteryear, cabaret singers put on a show every night, whilst you enjoy your dinner in the romantic atmosphere of the village of Montmarte.
