Four of us arrived and queued for a table. We were at the front of the queue, but the waitress forgot us and seated two people who had arrived after us at a table for four. After waiting ten more minutes, she approached us and told us that there were no tables for four available and she couldn't join two... More

Walking in the street I came across Jacques Genin's store and couldnt help getting inside. I took a tarte au citron. Words can not describe how good this is. Crunchy base with the best lemon custard cream and basil. Dont miss it. I only regret that I didnt bought more of his pastries. Next time I will surely do.

Chocolate products are visually gorgeous. A high end boutique setting. A lab on the floor above to create the unique formulations.

Known for the amazing caramels and other sweets, however, we tried the Paris Brest and the lemon tart. Exquisite! No wonder they are considered the cream of the cream of the patisserie scene in Paris. Creamy, nutty, delicate... the lemon tart oozes the most deliciously smooth lemony cream.

Okay, so I am American, and as such, I am accustomed to good customer service. However, I do not typically expect American-standards customer service outside of the United States. The exception to this is when a business outside of the States markets itself as upscale. Because this place sells candy but pretends to be a museum, and charges accordingly, I... More

Worth making a trip out for it. The caramels are soft, creamy, and buttery. They need refrigeration because their so fresh and made without any preservatives. We ended up buying a mix of caramels from the those infused with fruit flavors to more traditional flavors. We also purchased some chocolates and pate de fui. The sales people were very helpful... After researching the best place for caramels in Paris de Jaques Genin was the winner. The store is very upscale. Like walking into an expensive jewelry store. Beautiful glass cases full of chocolates, caramels, & jellied candy that look like works of art served by wonderfully dressed staff with white gloves. Staff is very friendly & helpful. I purchased the... More

I heard excellent things about the caramels here and was very interested in the fruit jellies, so I decided to stop by. The girl at the counter was very friendly and offered to let us each try a jelly, which were absolutely exquisite (softer then I thought they would be). I tried 2 of each fruit flavor (so about 14... I tried this place because of the excellent review. As soon as I walked in a felt a little uncomfortable only because it wasn't like any chocolate/candy store I had ever been in. We were pleasantly greeted by a man in a suit and all the caramels, chocolate, and other sweets were under glass display cases and handled with white... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
