We ate here last night. Given it was a drizzly Tuesday evening, we were surprised at the number of customers they had but we were served quickly and efficiently by quite young friendly staff. We had the menu at €17.50 and both had ribs with chips, followed by chocolate mousse for me and creme brûlée for my friend. All perfectly... More

We met up with some French friends who had heard this place had good steak tartare. We each ordered a different tartare: "Tonton" (ketchup, mustard & bearaise), bearnaise only, traditional with onions and capers, and 3 cheese. Everyone liked their food a lot. They also come with fat steak fries and salad. Their standard portion size was good and they... More

Went several times over the summer whilst on business and this restaurant became a firm favourite. There must be about 40 tartares and poeles (the latter is tartare that has just beeen briefly shown the pan, kind of like a blue burger). I loved their poele Dechirator with bits of chicken liver, gizzards and lard mixed in, the description might... More

Typical bistro decoration, located at the 14th, nice service. The food is average but the portions big.

As soon as we walked in we knew we are in for a treat. The room was packed of local and it was 1:30pm. Staff can speak some English and were very accommodating. Menu is in French only. And they only do steak tartare or steak that cooked from rare to medium rare. There were also a formula menu with... More

We went here with one thing on our mind - steak tartare! The only 'problem' there are about a dozen choices! The Roquefort Porto one was amazing! Very subtle taste of both ingredients, not overpowering. The only 'problem' was with the ketchup! It was not nice and thick and just came out runny and drowned the fries. The service was... More

we had a beautifully cooked fillet steak from here... and steak tartare.. and it was all brilliantly cooked for the price, but small portions. would recommend having an entree from this place only because the mains might leave you hungry. Better value then AU Metro down the road.

Out of the thousands of restaurants we could eat in in Paris, we stummbled into here after leaveing (without being fed because of the rude staff) La Cantine Du Troquet (the hype's isn't worth the vile waiting staff). Les Tontons is a little gem was so good, that on a weekend break, we ate here twice out of the three... More

We're lucky enough to have this place just up the road from our rental apartment, so we've been in a few times, but we only ate there for the first time a couple of days ago. It's fantastic value with a huge selection of steak tartares and delicious desserts. We had a tartare each with a lovely bottle of rosé... More

The coffee here is one of the best on the street. Staff are friendly and helpful. Reasonable drinks selection. Fair prices. The restaurant side of the cafe specialises in tartare in its numerous variations and did a steady trade, with the restaurant sometimes full. Another local experience not to be missed. Very enjoyable.

Neighbourhood Profile
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the centre of Paris this neighbourhood has something for every hour of the day.
