Getting a reservation for this restaurant should be a competitive sport. I was finally able to score a reservation and was looking forward to the dining experience with friends. We did the wine pairing with our meal, and though the food was good, it wasn't...memorable for any of us. Considering how difficult it is to obtain a reservation, I thought the food would be mind-blowing, but it wasn't. It definitely isn't worth the hype in my opinion.More

We were really lucky to get a reservation for 4 early this month. My wife and I had dined here 4 years ago. My memories of this restaurant was that it was fine and this time, yes it was excellent. Reasonable prices, very creative dishes,...great wine, the dessert was divine, best we had this trip. Unassuming but the food speaks for itself, delish!More

If you can grab a table, don't hesitate! The food was a surprise from course to course. There is no menu, but they ask about allergies and preferences at the start of a meal. My teen daughter requested no cheese (I know - this is...France, right) and they prepared versions of some dishes for her that were every bit as delicious as our own. Capers instead of goat cheese? Genius! Anyway, it was BY FAR our favorite meal during a week of Michelin-starred meals in Paris. We brought home their cook book.More

Rewarding return after being shut out on reservation system for many years. Thankfully not much has changed with a stream of inventive dishes each a study of subtle beauty keeping principle ingredients in focus. Fun beverage program.

The vibe was charming. The meal was good. But the reservation was impossible to get. I got lucky bc I met a guy at their wine bar who had a connection and put my name down that night. It was 7 courses and $120 Euro...for dinner. The meal was very vegetable forward. It was good and I love veggies, but I didn’t think the meal was worth it for mostly veggies. There was a dish w seafood, but it was like a cold seafood broth, which was just okay. It didn’t have any special seafood pieces (like lobster, crab, shrimp. Instead, it had squid, scallop, and maybe clam) in there. It didn’t highlight the flavors of the seafood—it didn’t feel special. Then there was a 1 meat dish, deer. It was good, but very simple. I didn’t think it was worth the hype of being impossible to get a resy. I don’t think I would come again.More

Wow, just wow - the service, the staff and the best of it all - the food! My wife and I frequent Michelin rated restaurants and Septime really does an exceptional job of setting itself apart. Not only does this chef push the boundaries with...uniquely creative dishes but the sommelier seemed to perfectly pair each courses with amazing natural wines from around the region. This was our first experience with natural wines and it really opened our eyes to the unique and adaptable profiles they provide - this wine pairing is a must! Throughout our dinner there was no question that the staff truly cared and while busy never hesitated to personalize our visit. The small number of tables let the perfectly curated design of this restaurant thrive! The decor was modern, yet cozy that instantly made you feel relaxed and warm. Even the bathroom was beautifully designed with perfectly curated vintage details. This will forever be a fantastic memory for us and one of our top favorite dinners. There is a reason why Septime is on the World's 50 Best restaurants - the tough to get reservation is worth the hassle, trust me (tip: ensure you refresh your browser if no times are available as soon as the window opens, often it can be delayed for several minutes until the times show up for selection).More

Septime have been on my ”must visit” for several years and this time I managed to get a table for lunch the day after signing up to the waiting list while visiting Paris. We had a wonderful lunch, although not spectacular. I believe the main...problem is expectations: ranked 24 in the world, 1 star and so on. But when visiting the restaurant there is no stars to show or raise the price, same for the 24 spot. It is just a very good restaurant and it should be trestegs like that. No white cloths, no prententiousnes - so don’t expect the same kind of service as other 1 star restaurants. The wine was just spot on. We had two bottles (1 white 1 red) instead of the wine package, great suggestions from the sommelier. 5/5. The food was not really there to give it 5 stars. The broth was great, and the lobster superb. Grilled cucumber good as well. But the second main, with marrow, we felt it lacked something. The dessert was very nice though! Very pleasent experince for a good price as well. Highly recomend it, but with slightly lower expectations.More

It wasn’t bad, delivers on the standard expected of a one star Michelin restaurant. Though not worth the drama of the booking system. If they would just release all the dates for the next 6 months and let people plan. I am sure it is...some sort of marketing gimmick but it’s annoying.More

So disappointed! We had been looking forward to this restaurant, but it came short of our expectations! Service and sommelier were extremely pleasant and well trained, it’s the food that was disappointing. It was a 7 course special menu. Food presentation looked very interesting you...will see by my photos. Our first appetizer was great, small fresh green raspberries wrapped in spinach sitting on a bed of ricotta cheese. 2nd appetizer was cuttlefish noodles in a very bland broth, next was a dish of 5-6 small potatoes, followed by grilled asparagus and the protein was a small tasteless piece of chicken that was poached! My portion was so stringy I didn’t eat it. Instead of having 3 desserts they should have improved the quality of the menu with maybe something more substantial to at least justify the prices. 120.00 per person for this meal was ridiculous and this did not include the wines. Also, wanted to note that 6 of our plates had chipped. You would think that a restaurant that prides themselves would at least present there food in a non chipped plate and or bowl?More

Have you seen the movie “The Menu”? If you have, then this is it. It’s so ironically pretentious. It’s almost comical how serious they are taking each item that is brought over to the table. Acting as though a single piece of asparagus is somehow...transcendent. I felt like saying the whole time, get over yourselves! It’s just a very simple “farm to table” concept done fairly well. But nothing new. Nothing inventive. Chefs are supposed to know how to finesse great ingredients. But according to themselves and seemingly everyone else, they do it so damn well it’s kind of mind blowing?? It is not. Now— if the bread and butter on the table was superior, and they carried more alcohol then just gin (I mean seriously, we’re spending €200+ per person and I can’t even order a damn cocktail of my choice), and if the staff weren’t acting like they were delivering Christ himself, and they had some music on with a vibe, then maybe it would have felt like an relaxed cool experience at least. The meal and ambience was so DRAB. We left laughing at the end of our “intense” 3 hour meal. If you are a local this might feel super new and exciting and awesome. If you aren’t from Paris, go enjoy one of the millions of other restaurants to complete your culinary Paris experience. If you are from NYC or LA, I wouldn’t go at all. This is a dime a dozen.More

We booked a table for our last night in Paris. The meal was the most highly anticipated part of our week long London/Paris trip, but ended up being the biggest let down. We were able to secure a table 3 weeks in advance through the...restaurant's website; however, after that were unable to have any communication. We tried to inquire if the restaurant was having any issues surrounding the current protests in Paris, as it is in the 11th Arr., but received no response at all. Paris traffic being what it is, we arrived for our reservation late. We attempted to inform the restaurant that we were delayed, however, again were unable to communicate with them. On the plus side, they still honored our reservation, which was a pleasant surprise, as many high demand restaurants would have given our table away. So that was good. We were sat at a communal picnic style table, but assume this was due to our late arrival so we were not bothered by this aspect at the time. Once settled, we were offered drinks before the meal, and then the meal + wine pairing began. The dishes were definitely creative and "experimental", but this aspect of the meal seemed to be more of the focus rather than customer enjoyment. For instance, the fist course started with a small cup of "Turnip water". One member of our group then commented, "watch, the next dish will be the turnips that were boiled in this water." We had to laugh when that is exactly what followed. Our thought was, "Well I hope the next course is better," but that seemed to be the feeling after every course. The plates are small, but that is typical of tasting menus, and not particularly an issue. However, no dish left us craving more. I can not say the food was honestly bad, but was just ok. The wines on the other hand definitely tasted cheap, as other reviewers have previously said; however, the pairing is only 60 euros so in a sense you get what you pay for. Maybe our problem is that we were expecting something truly special given the fanfare (currently rated top 25 restaurant in the world) and hype, but received an experience that was higher in pretention than taste and enjoyment. We heard other diners commenting how special and amazing their meals were, and were curious if they were eating the same meal as us; however when we looked over and saw they were, we had to feel as though they were just agreeing with the current narrative of this restaurant. Bottom line, if you can get in for a reservation and are a real foodie, maybe you will enjoy. For a restaurant so highly touted, the cost is very reasonable; however, I would stress to lower your expectations going in. And if you are unable to get a reservation, do not be too upset. At the end of our meal, we asked ourselves, "Would we have rather been turned away for being late to our reservation and thought we missed a once in a lifetime dining experience, or been so disappointed?" The consensus was that we would have rather been turned away.More

This is the second time I have eaten at Septime. The first was back in 2012 when it was not as sought after as it is now (high end parisians didn't go to the sketchy 11th but it was on the radar as an up...and comer which is what I look for on my visits to major cities). Having not been able to get a reservation due to demand in the last 4 trips to Paris, some friends and I were able to snag one this time. Well, let me tell you first, that the women behind the bar at their holding bar or Cave across the street was a dream. She was pleasant and accommodating. The space is super, old parisian cool. We moved across the street to the restaurant and the servers were great, the food amazing ( we had the 7 course wine pairing menu). Here is where it goes down hill. While the food was excellent, diversified and tasty on so many levels and, frankly, the wine pairings were spot on ( I know a little about wine pairing by training), the self absorbed condescending attitude of the sommelier and the way he treated us by talking down to us when we asked the simplest of questions or tried to engage him in simple conversations such as "Where are you from?", "Where did you study wine?". Anything was met with a talking down, dismissive, attitude that didn't ruin the meal but made him having to come back 7 times an annoyance. Then of course, we knew we could afford to eat there and, short of being an employee, we knew he couldn't, so we could more easily dismiss him, than him us,. But for C sake, we are the customer. We weren't rude, we were inquisitive and a sommelier, like all servers in a restaurant, need to enhance the dinner's experience but I was totally put off and won't returnMore

Septime is among the most difficult places to book, not only in Paris but anywhere. I did not succeed in 2017 and 2019. This time we booked lunch, with three mobile phones and the help of a colleague all hitting the website at 9:59:59 am...for a slot three weeks later. It was worth it. Lunch was extremely pleasant, with the surprise 5 course menu offering simply constructed but tasty dishes with harmonious flavours. The marinated raw scallops with yuzu, a dish with autumn mushrooms and a creamy almond flavoured broth and the dish main (merlan) were all very good. The winelist is almost entirely made up of organic and bio wines. The Greek wine as an apero was fine, the bottle of St-Aubin from H. Lamy very good... Service was efficient and fast but friendly. As was to be expected, the place was totally packed and many would-be lunchers turned away....More
