I'm not your usual coffee house gal. I can count the times I've been to Starbucks, okay? But you don't know how much you miss a good cup o' joe until you're living in a city where the coffee they serve in the cafes is pretty abysmal. But the hipster trend in Paris has spawned some Brooklyn-style coffee houses—some are... More

What more do you need to read. In a country that prides itself in the subtleties of food, Im forever perplexed that they can be so ignorant of a good coffee.... no more! Let's pray this is the beginning of the new caffeine renaissance..Vive le France! Double ristretto with a dash of milk...perfect!

The place is tiny and there is room to sit only by the bar. However, the coffee is phenomenal. And the owner really friendly. Highly recommended for coffee lovers.

This delightful bijou, independent shop serves amazing coffee. The Baristas are "excellent". You can buy a wide variety of beans for home grinding. The home made cakes are really tasty. Four seats inside and a few more outside, so do not dally for too long. Great stop on the way to or from the Pompidou centre. Great value as well.

I live in Melbourne. Probably the best coffee destination in the world, so I found Paris really challenging from a coffee lover's perspective. Terres was my saviour. Good coffee, and will do take away that is still good. A wonderful discovery in Le Marais. Add friendly and helpful staff, who are knowledgeable and you have a winner.

So we came here 12 months ago while we were in Paris. We had such a nice coffee here we decided to come back. Good to see the standard hasn't dropped. Service was friendly and informative regarding the coffee beans used. Very nicely extracted espresso with nicely texured milk. All in all a very nice coffee, will have plenty more... More

This hole in the wall is the place to go for an excellent coffee in the Marais. Prices start at Eur1.20 for un café (espresso). I also bought freshly ground coffee to use in a Bialetti at my in-laws. The proprietor advised me and the coffee I bought was really very good (Terre de Cafe bio). Despite what the French... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
