We just happened upon this lovely little place on our walk through the area. We stopped to admire the oysters in the open window and the very friendly waiter asked if we would like to come in and try some. We almost didn't, but I am so happy we did. It was a wonderful experience of food, champagne, and wine.... More

Opium is a tiny restaurant with only 5 tables and serve a fine selection of super fresh oysters. We start either with the excellent fish soup (the only warm dish on the menu) and the "Lardo di colonnata" an exclusive Italian white bacon (in winter) or the smoked salmon and seafood platter, followed by an assortment of oysters. The rosé... More

We found this restaurant through Groupon. The restaurant is somewhat small, but our server was very passionate about oysters explaining the types and the way to enjoy the oysters. Hint - avoid the lemon and cocktail sauce. The oysters were so fresh. We have 3 different types - we chose 2 out of the three. A little champagne made for... More

As someone who can down oysters like, well oysters, I had my eye on the oyster bar that we had seen the day before whilst exploring the area of Paris where a hotel was. We looked in at the vast array of oysters and saw a small, very small modern place. In we went to be met by the nicest... More

This tiny place has around 10 seats. Would not even call it a restaurant... But it's a must-visit when in Paris. The oysters are spectacular- not less - and the service is as good as it can be. You will leave satisfied, happy and knowledgable - as the great waiter makes sure to teach you about oysters while serving them

What a great little restaurant - only big enough for a few tables, but the owner and his staff make you feel so welcomed! The oysters were huge, and an explanation of its origin and taste proved to be an unforgettable experience. We had a bottle of Champaign as we enjoyed the experience - that only the smallest of venues... More

My sister and I had been past this oyster bar several times over the course of a few days as it is very near where we were staying, but the timing didn't seem right to drop in until one evening at about 6.00. We stopped in for a glass of champagne and a small sampling of oysters. The charming proprietor... More

I love oysters. In the sates I have a dozen at least once a week. This place was a real find in Paris. One of my first experiences with oysters in the old world and their grading system rather than using the place of origin. The owner is a lovely gentleman with a deep knowledge of his family's business who... More

Small place but pure gem. Had oysters - went around France based on recommendation. Started from south of France which was salty and went up north - meaning it got sweeter. Our waiter suggested we have the oysters without any topping (no lemon, no Tabasco etc.) And OMG, it was not needed. So fresh and so good. Their fish soup,... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Odeon / Saint-Michel
As the bustling center of entertainment for the residents of the Rive Gauche, the activity at Odéon never stops. Boulevards are lined with traditional cafes, restaurants, and boutique cinemas. The streets surrounding the fountain at Saint-Michel provide eateries from around the world. Lively bars are just next door and the prototypical terraced French brasserie is on every corner.
