Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great place with great food and awesome atmosphere! I have been here many times, and always take my friends here when they are visiting Paris. Always a success.

Very busy small restaurant. Avoid if you do not want to catch flu as the tables ate so close and there is little fresh air. Arrive early to beat the queue. The daily veal special was tasty and huge. My liver salad was dreadful. If...you want dark grey fried liver with a dry texture and no onions this is for you. I used the sauce on someone's veal to give it flavour. The lettuce looked old and tired and the tomatoes tasted rancid. The waiter made no comment after he asked me how it was and I told him the tomatoes were bad. The restaurant service was quick so I was pleased about that but they have sacrificed quality in their rush.More

Good food and good basque wine Beret Noir. Also good tap basque beer. Second time here, normally I go to the location on rue du 5 Diamants. Strongly reccomendable. Fair price/quality ratio…

5 of us ate here. 3 of us had the best burgers of our lives. Excellent service and staff. It was quite warm inside but it's August- what can you do? Great place-recommended.

We always feel lucky to get a table in this bustling, cramped, cozy place, one of my favorites. Our starters of rillettes and pâté basque were excellent, bordering on TOO rich but so good. Then we had a cassoulet (I know it’s a winter dish)...which was full of meats with a rich red sauce and beans. Also we had chiperons (cuttlefish) that were real (restaurant sometimes pass off calamari as cuttlefish). It had a nice flavorful sauce and rice. We wanted a side of their great fried potatoes but decided we had eaten too much already. We hope this place stays the same with its bantering, friendly staff, and its casual look.More

Absolutely terrible. I've been dining in Paris for over 40 years, and this is just about the worst meal I've ever had. It took two hours until everyone in our party was served, and by the time the last of us received their food, the...first had long since finished. We had to leave before we got our desserts! It might have been different had the food been worth waiting for -- but, believe me, it wasn't. Pour le dire en français: dégueulasse!More

I never write reviews, but I was quite disappointed with Chez Gladines, after having seen so many recommendations for it. The staff was friendly, but--. We ordered dishes that seemed more typically Basque: little whole squid in Basque sauce, and red peppers filled with brandade...in a carrot sauce. The squid were obviously previously frozen, which was not noted on the menu, and were the worse for the thawing. The sauce was good. The peppers were themselves good, but I could not taste the slightest bit of cod in the brandade--it was just bland potato. The carrot sauce was likewise almost flavorless. The sangria was overly sweet. I asked for a salad on the side, and was given a bowl of lettuce leaves with a few chunks of tomato and almost no dressing. The salad garnish in most Parisian bistros is far superior. The place was packed. Go figure.More

Definitely enjoyed this place. Was invited by y friend who is a local and was blown away. We had to wait for a little before being seated but well worth every minute of waiting. The Escalope de veau Montagnarde was so good, very rich, very...hearty, and cooked very well with all its ingredients. I enjoyed the friendly service. Will recommend this place to all my friends.More

A friendly welcome, rapid service and good food. There was a good choice of Basque dishes or more mainstream plates and all the portions were generous. My partner couldn’t resist the escargot and really enjoyed them - and there was a delivery of extra bread...to help him mop up all the juices. The Basque Pate was delicious and I also enjoyed bavette while my other half savoured the huge Veal escalope. No room for dessert but there were some classics o on the menu. Good value, great atmosphere in a busy cafe.More

Remarkable and simple Parisian staple of southwestern comfort food. Two more of them in Paris but this is the original, as is the surrounding quartier de la Butte aux Cailles.

Normally I would rank this place at 4/5 but just not during Covid. Very close table spacing and putting stranger couples together at small tables for four. No health pass inspection. Staff was masked. Consumers should call out non covid compliance.

Just let yourself order something random at this restaurant, the rudest the service the better, this is real Parisian service under South West cuisine! Nothing formal, just amazing food and rough service = Paris at its best! If waiters are nice to you, RUN!

We won't ever come and eat here again. When we arrived some of the staffs looked a bit drunk. They didn't want us to sit cause one person was missing. After we waited for him to arrive we could finally sit. The food was fine...but... We had to eat with the waiters hitting our chair every time they walked next to us FOR THE ENTIRE MEAL. More than that, it wasn't very pleasant to hear one of the waiters near by complaining and cursing about another client. I know some client can be rude but that shouldn't affect us in any way. It's such a disappointment.More
