Little family place on the borders of the touristy stuff around Norte Dame. Mostly salads and light dishes which are delicious. Fantastic ice cream from the Berthillon family. Perfect for a light lunch.

Food was excellent, and the service was even better. Ile Saint Louis is a small community of about 2500 in the center of Paris - everyone knows each other. Virginie and Mona make you feel like you're part of the community, and so do the local guests. I can't say enough good about it. Just don't miss it, even if... More

We went with my cousins that live in Paris. They told us this is the place for ice cream and they were right. We had lunch as well and the food was some of the best we had during are two weeks in France. The service was fast and friendly. We can not wait to go back.

This gem is run by a young woman (13 years in business) and the food is exquisite. The presentation beautiful. French Onion Soup the best I have had. Tempura Gambas, crispy and moist. Of course, being on this Ile, Glacé Bertillon is served. Soup 9 euros, Gambas 12 euro. Great selections of wine available in 50 cl carafes. A thoroughly... More

Just the sort of unassuming but excellent lunch venue that we were hoping to find. We were greeted like friends and enjoyed the fact that most of our fellow guests were French. The vegetable soup was wonderful and I would have loved to indulge in a full meal but that was not part of the plan! However we were looked... More

Stumbled across this little restaurant tonight whilst strolling around the Notre Dame island. Had French onion soup, which was fantastic (especially on a freezing cold evening) and was served with a grilled cheese topping .... I then had entrecôte steak and frites, which again was really well cooked. Simple tasty food served up by the really friendly and hospitable Virginienne... More

Wow, the first time we went there was a complete coincidence and this place is now on our must go list for whenever we will transit through Paris. I never thought that Parisian would be so nice and charming. Our lunch was absolutely delectable, everything is fresh made with fresh local products, no wonder that this place was full of... More

We always make sure to stop in at lunch or teatime whenever we're in Paris. We can particularly recommend the onion soup, club sandwich, tarte tatin and ice cream dishes, and the wide selection of fragrant teas and tisanes. A small, charming place with surprisingly great food, freshly made with local ingredients, and very reasonable prices. Convenient for a visit... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
