This is my favourite place in St Germaine as it hasn't changed for years. Nothing fussy, nothing pretentious but genuine good food in a lively amtosphere where eccentric locals sit cheek by jowl and have their own tables. Our waitress was lovely and writes your order on the paper tablecloth and the owner is a smiler. It takes you back... More

Some things never change, nor should they. I hope this restaurant remains as it is. There is a picture in this restaurant of guests dining on the sidewalk in 1964 and other than the cars, the picture is the same today - as it has been since 1903 at this restaurant. As it was always done, your waiter will write... More

Went there for lunch today. Had foie gras and an onion soup, both of which were ok. But the main issue arose upon my attempt to pay for my meal with a credit card. Imagine that the staff told me they don't take any credit cards or debit cards. Only cash, checks (?? the last place on earth to still... More

Do you want to see a restaurant that did not change during the years? Something that lasted despite everything? Come here! We can really call it typical. Food is good and waiters very kind. Good price. Remember that you cannot use credit card.

Been going here for thirty years and love the place, simple but great food, real old school waitresses, the most amazing atmosphere. Hope it never changes. My favourite bistro in my favourite arrondissement.

This is what Saint-Germain was 30 years ago. Real, authentic French food served with no show. Great prices, fantastic qualities, my American friends this is close to being the secret place you should visit when in Paris.

The restaurant is located in the posh neighbourhood of the saint germain, not far from the musee d'orsay, and very close to the famous bistrot "Les deux magots", which I didn't visit. The restaurant is (apparently) owned by a pleasant woman who manages the venue quite strictly: but she has to, as the restaurant is really petit as its name... More

I'm disappointed. I'm transported back to the Paris of the 60s and 70s to a typical bistro of those times. The place looked tired and the food was only OK. The service was OK but our waitress was trying very hard to get us to have all sorts of extras, including making the drink suggestion when we arrived sound like... More

We stumbled across this restaurant and we were so glad we did! 11 of us came for dinner and it truly was an amazing experience. The service was fantastic, and you could tell that they genuinely cared about the experience at the restaurant. We tried many different menu items: assorted cheese, frog legs, foie gras, french onion soup, duck leg... More

Busy neighborhood spot in the 6th filled with locals. Consistently good "French classics" at reasonable prices. I have dined here no less than 10 times in many visits. If you want "privacy" this is not the spot, as it is a typical restaurant with tables on top of each other.

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
