Nice location on popular street, but back from it (people aren't tripping over you). Friendly staff. Pumpkin soup was a pleasant change from de rigeur onion soup.

In the area and sort of lost in the early afternoon, so stopped here. Good service, had the Quiche special (not into quiche, but in France...so...) was very good. Had a glass of the suggested recommended red wine which was excellent. Was quiet, then got super busy, so apparently they draw a crowd.

We were headed to the Musee du Picasso and stopped for a coffee. The sun was shining on the outdoor tables where locals were reading their papers and chatting. There was only one table eating and the food looked great. Had we not gotten distracted on the other side of the Musee, we would have lunched here. Nice atmosphere -... More

I have eaten here several times before and have left a previous very positive review however my last experience was far from satisfactory. I went there last Sunday. It tools ages to get seen to. I asked for a table at the front and was told it was for 4 people. 5 minutes after I sat down I saw two... More

Walked up and liked the look of it and we were not disappointed. Basque chicken was tender and had excellent flavor. One or the specials was vegetable tart and it was also very good. A nice dinner for two, including wine was under 32 euro. Friendly staff. We would definitely go back.

We've lived a few blocks from Le bar du Marché for more than a decade and eaten there many times. We usually go for the €9 petit déjeuner américain" when we can't cook at home for whatever reason and today was one of those days. We entered the restaurant and waited 15 minutes before we got the waiter's attention. We... More

I went for dinner with my girlfriend, two friends and their kids. The escargots (snails) that we had for starters were nice. The rest was completely lackluster. I had a Quiche Lorraine which was one of the daily specials. It was prepared more like a huge Tortilla Asturiana. I've had far better quiches at nearby boulangeries. My girlfriend had a... More

Wandered along Rue Vieielle du Temple having been told there are lots of lovely bars/cafes ... we wanted an outdoor table and eventually found one at Bar Du Marche. We had a lovely meal here ... for me it was my favourite French onion soup ... accompanied by a very decent house wine (white). Service was good, and the waiter... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
