The location, atmosphere and service of this spot was the highlight. I loved the feel of this restaurant. A good French dinner.

This is a very traditional Brasserie that is always busy. One of the few places that takes American Express in Paris. When I arrived had to wait some 15 minutes to get a table

A traditional brasserie located in Saint-Germain-des-Prez, Lipp has been around for over 130 years. You have a sense of stepping back in time as you walk into the main room. We dined in the second floor - cramped, tables next to each other, waiters with trays magically floating through the room - probably the way it was 100 years ago.... More

I'd read about this restaurant and we came across it walking back to our hotel from Luxembourg Gardens. My wife and I loved it. This is a well known upscale brasserie. We did not have a reservation and waited inside for about thirty minutes as well dressed Parisians came and went. Although well known, this is not a tourist spot... More

On Dec. 12, 2016, I ate with two nephews at the Brasserie. It is a tradition to do it whenever I am in Paris. Food in the average, bill € 145.50 and tip. When at home I realised it was included Cabillaud dish, initially ordered, but cancelled because the maître informed us it was finished. I sent an email with... More

Never changing, this institution is just that. Great atmosphere of old and if you have the courage to eat here, you'll not be disappointed. You'll take in another era... a good compliment to Flore and Magots...

The waiters all wear white aprons and they tailer to your every need. They are funny when they need to be and informative when you have questions about the menu. They would even pull out the table for my wife when she was about to go to the bathroom. I haven't even mentioned the food, which was spectacular. The escargot... More

And it is really worth it, for the garçons it their typical pinguim dress, for the ambiance who didn't changed a bit for long time, for their usual customers - and there are many of them - all of this coming straight from last century! Now the food is not amazing and for the price you will certainly find better... More

A place full of history –and maybe also full of stories– Lipp is a very small typical Parisian brasserie that has been there for quite a long time. To begin with the waiters are movie characters by their own right, all dressed in black with vests and neckties. The posters with the place's rules are amusing at some points. (eg:... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
