Typical French food, with flavors that seem simple and yet so enjoyable! We got a tip from our concierge, and I am glad we could make it! The food was delicious, a bit pricy (but well, it is in Paris), and the staff was adorable. The wine suggested was simply delicious, and the fish (we had sole meunière) was supperb.... More

Lured by a well-promoted 34€ 3 course lunch (with only two choices), we gave Allard another try and are pleased we did. A new (female) chef, what appears to be a fresh staff and serious management combine, albeit on the basis of a single meal, to correct the disappointments experienced in the immediate aftermath of the Ducasse ownership change in... Well this place was so recommend that i had high expectations but unfortunately for me wasn't worthy! We asked for the famous DUCK for 2, and there was no meet enough for 2, the waiter came later with a duck wing to complement, terrible. The taste was nothing in special, the olives are ok and everything is very expensive. I... More

On our last visit to Paris we were alarmed to learn that the venerable Allard restaurant was taken over by Alain Ducasse, with a way too fancy-pants website. We were relieved and gratified to find, though, that the restaurant has been only barely gussied up around the edges (e.g., a tacky list of "Ducasse" wine selection). The main and classic... More

The concierge recommended this restaurant which lies down a narrow maze of streets. Step in and you are immediately transformed into a warm parlour of your aristocratic grandmama where glamorous Parisians come to eat and be seen. The food is hearty and well prepared and Cassoulet was perfect for a winter's evening (tho not quite done in the Carcassonne style).... More

The setting is nice, seemingly authentic, but the food is just about average. It seems to trade on something that went before it. The foie gras was not particularly tasty, although the bread it came with was good, and my fish was watery and snotty, as if it had been frozen. My partners' oeuf cocotte looked unappealing, far too salty... More

What a great meal. The food, the service, the setting, they were all wonderful. Neither of us speak French, it didn't matter. The staff made us feel welcome and comfortable. The food was creative and tasted wonderful. We split two desserts that were out of this world. We are so glad we had the chance to dine at Allard.

Allard kept for long time the best futures of the traditional French cuisine, the decor still untochable for the many years I have visited this once impeccable restaurant of the lovely Left Bank, but now is just a sad shadow of the simple greatness it used to have. I understand that the restless chef Alain Ducasse is the new owner,... More

We made reservations with Allard and had a great experience in Paris . We both started with escargot and they were great . We both ordered exactly the same scallops that were exceptional and a wonderful white wine recommendation. I had the cheese plate for dessert and my wife has a chocolate puff desert that she loved but cannot remember... More

Staying in Odeon / Saint-Michel

Neighbourhood Profile
Odeon / Saint-Michel
As the bustling center of entertainment for the residents of the Rive Gauche, the activity at Odéon never stops. Boulevards are lined with traditional cafes, restaurants, and boutique cinemas. The streets surrounding the fountain at Saint-Michel provide eateries from around the world. Lively bars are just next door and the prototypical terraced French brasserie is on every corner. The setting for this area is second to none; the Haussmann-style boulevards are contrasted by monumental architecture and overshadowed by the iconic Notre Dame, all within a moment’s walk from the Seine. This neighbourhood's world-famous bookshops, cafés, and streets will not fail to impress you.
