The historical aspect and vibe make it worth it. The food, coffee and service leave much to be wanted but will come here every time I visit Paris just because its rare to find a cafe with this kind of energy and feeling. No regrets, just bad coffee and good photos.

We went for a drink before dinner and had a table close to the entrance. The staff is very professional and nice, the interior is simply wonderful. I have been here with some regularity since the late seventies and this is in every positive aspects, a Parisian institution. Go there! A bit pricey, but then, quality is not cheap.

First learn about the history and you will enjoy the place more. Food is average and expensive. Service is from bad to very bad. But this is place you have to stop by if you do not want to miss what makes the spirit of St Germain des Près or what is left of it.

My partner and I spent an entire month in Paris virtually exclusively for visiting the places Hemingway lived, drank, walked parties. This restaurant/bar is one of them, directly in front of Saint-Germain-des-Pres, which hosts wonderful musical concerts. Along with Hemingway, many other artists drank here, among them Albert Camus, Pablo Picasso, and James Joyce. But brace yourself, I have encountered... More

This has been a favourite of ours from our last visit and we stopped by here a few times this trip. Its just what you had in mind when you thought about sitting outside people watching with a delicious hot chocolate or espresso in hand. You can stay as long as you like. There is no rush in Paris.

A great place for people watching, eating and drinking. We arrived in Paris and went straight here for a late lunch. The food is incredible, the staff are friendly, and you can't beat the location. The ham/cheese omelette was outstanding, and the 2 bottles of rose certainly helped with the jet lag.

This famous eaterie is well worth a visit. Delicious, beautifully plated food. The desserts are marvellous. The waiters are rushed off their feet and could try harder at providing undivided attention to clients. The restaurant was on my bucket list of eateries and did not disappoint. Merci.

Les Deux Magots was around the corner from our hotel during our stay in Paris, and it was the perfect place to eat. The menu was robust, the wine list was superb, and the food was delicious and beautifully plated. We sat in the enclosed porch area where we could enjoy the sights on the streets, and it was very... Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
