We asked the concierge at our hotel where could we get great beef Bourgogne. After telling us that this was a winter dish (our visit was in June) he suggested Chez Reni. The restaurant wasn't full at about 8 pm on a June Saturday night and many in the restaurant were Americans (like us) some of which eat there often.... More

NOT lgbt friendly, not a single diner was in the restaurant at 1930 but we were turned away because they were not happy with our presentation. Their loss. Better to spend our euros where we are appreciated.

I am an expert in "mousse au chocolat", and I can guarantee that this restaurant has the best Mousse au chocolat in the world. Their "cotes d'agneau" (lamb chops) were also great but they were cooked the French classical way. That means a bit undercooked (rosé, which is called perfection by the French) with a light sauce. So if you... More

Had a great meal at Chez Rene. My husband had the beef burgundy and I had the coq au vin. The sauces were fabulous. Nice atmosphere with plenty of local clients. Our waiter was very pleasant and accommodated us by translating the menu. A very nice choice for dinner!

We booked for dinner based on feed back we had received from friends. Living in France we have enjoyed many good and some bad meals at restaurants. This ranks as one of the better experiences. This is a typical Paris brasserie. Good ambiance, varied selection on the menu and hearty quality Lyonaise food. Our waiter was superb - friendly, efficient,... More

We visited Chez Rene for lunch as it was given a good recommendation by Lonely Planet. We were not disappointed with the very friendly service, excellent food (I had the Duck which was truly exceptional) and very reasonable prices. We did not have a reservation, but we were welcomed warmly and a table set promptly for our party of 5.... More

I loved Chez Rene in it's original life. The restaurant changed hands several years ago and this was my first visit since then. Sorry to say it was disappointing. Two of us ordered coq au vin and it was very dry and just not a good dish. On a positive note they have added a "sidewalk" terrace which is nice... More

Yes, there are still classic french bistros in Paris, Chez René is one of these. The setting is vintage, including the zinc covered bar. The food is classic bistro cuisine too, but do not expect gastronomic summits. They also serve old fashioned dishes like snails, frog legs and kidneys. The prices are OK for the location, reservations are recommended for... More

We have eaten at many restaurants in Paris. This is a favorite. Really warm hearty food. Bone marrow appetizer - was broiled and served in the actual bone, split in two. Interesting and tasty! If you like kidneys this is apparently the place to go. (We both hate kidneys so did not order it but that's the word . .... More

Chez Rene serves up some delicious BOEUF A LA BOURGUIGNONNE, and Coq Au Vin... yes, they are in very similar sauces but luckily they are both delicious. Other French classics are served. Most importantly, this place is very reasonable. Make a reservation because they have no issues turning away walk in's (which they did to us the first night we... More
