The staff at the Hotel La Tamise where we were staying recommended L'Absinthe, a short ten minute walk away. It is a small, friendly neighborhood restaurant with a nice atmosphere and very nice menu. It's not touristy at all even though there were plenty of tourists there. We sat next to a French man and his Russian wife on one... More

Found this after a walk from our nearby hotel and after a couple of reviews we read suggested this would be good. Had to wait a short time for a table as we had not booked but this meant that we could enjoy a cocktail (with Absinthe of course). We chose from the main menu rather than the specials but... More

Was staying at the Hotel Du Louvre for the weekend. On the concierge's recommendation, decided to give Absinthe a try. Had the fish soup which was the special of the day. It was creamy Fish soup with slices of apple in it. It was very good. Could have been hotter ( which is an Asian thing anyway) for me but... More

I have loved l'Absinthe since 2008, when I was working in Paris on expenses. It used to be run by the wonderful Michel Rostang, but now I believe it is his daughter Sophie in charge. Either way it is still gourmet dining of a very high standard. The place itself is cosy and nicely decorated. Not the same level of... More

Warm welcome by the staff and when he knew I was dining alone, took special care to talk to me. Dined early on a Friday night. Food was well presented and tasty. Staff spoke English.

we started with the small ravioli with langoustine cream sauce and the herring, followed by scallops and duck breast. the waiter's recommendation for wine was a great bottle and not expensive. very warm and friendly service. but... of course, they feature absinthe, of all kinds, a wonderful aperitif and at least for us Americans the on table preparation was unique.... The concierge at our Hotel W recommended this restaurant on our last night before heading home to the US. Was the best meal ever in Paris. We had been eating at restaurants where we have eaten for years. Tonight we decided to stay near our hotel. Glad we did.

Description
L'Absinthe is a "bistrot de cuisinier", a cooks' bistrot, firmly modern. The menu is entirely created, tested and produced in the restaurant's kitchen. Every single task from the slicing of vegetables to the seasoning of sauces including the filleting of fish, is executed in situ from A to Z. Each dish conveys the creative family spirit at the rate of the seasons and inspired by their different journeys around the world.
The restaurant's interior design will also make you feel this travelling and dynamic atmosphere: you will eat in setting which is a mix between a typical Parisian bistrot and a loft in New York.
